Need some water ideas!
hmm33502 replied to TheRevisionedVagabond's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I water everything down!!! My favorite is cherry spark from Advocare! I also get some lower sugar fruit juices and cut them at least in half with water...sometimes more!!! Banded 2010 weight:327 Sleeved 12/28/16 weight:253 CW: 228 GW: 155 Heather in Texas -
I can't do this!
hmm33502 replied to Sweetheart2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember how hungry I thought I was for the first week. Just stay the course. It gets so much better once you are on solid foods. Most of it is head hunger. I agree about the acid reducer once your Dr clears you for meds. Hang on and don't let hunger get the best of you! Daily calorie amount?
hmm33502 replied to Jcreasey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only started tracking food and calories at week 5. I get 400-800 calories per day with 60+ grams of protein daily. Banded 2010 weight:327 Sleeved 12/28/16 weight:253 CW: 228 GW: 155 Heather in Texas -

Possible revision to sleeve from band
hmm33502 replied to alli.wakefield's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a great amount of success with the band, but lost, gained, lost, gained....I ended up having issues eating anything healthy. No meat or veggie would go down without pain and I was only at 2cc in a 10cc band. I also never reached "green" so I ate slider foods....5 weeks ago I was sleeved and I couldn't be happier! I can eat healthy without that horrible "stuck" feeling. 25 lbs down so all is good so far! It is such a different experience! I still deal with head hunger, but I'm better at thinking through it and evaluating it properly. I also was put on metformin XR for PCOS. I have been off of it since surgery! Good luck on your journey! Banded 2010 weight:327 Sleeved 12/28/16 weight:253 CW: 228 GW: 155 Heather in Texas -
I just brew some chai tea, let it cool or add ice and 1 scoop of Quest vanilla Protein powder. In a shaker bottle and add Water for the consistency that I need. No need to sweeten, quest has a sweet taste already! Banded 2010 weight:327 Sleeved 12/28/16 weight:253 CW: 228 GW: 155 Heather in Texas

Have you ever used vanilla Protein powder to make a tea latte? I make an iced chai latte or Thai tea most mornings! Banded 2010 weight:327 Sleeved 12/28/16 weight:253 CW: 228 GW: 155 Heather in Texas

I HAD MY SURGERY YESTERDAY!
hmm33502 replied to KendraLynne's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They used some of the same incisions that were used for my band. I had 6 total incisions, but the only one that was painful was where they removed the port. I was in the hospital for a little over 24 hours. I was finished with pain meds on day 3. It was a much easier recovery, gas wise, than the band. My only suggestion is to forget everything that you knew with the band because the feeling, including the signs of being full, are completely different. It is great to not have the "stuck" feeling! Good luck to you! Banded 2010 weight:327 Sleeved 12/28/16 weight:253 CW: 228 GW: 155 Heather in Texas -

Revision from Lap Band to Sleeve

Revision from Lap Band to Sleeve
hmm33502 replied to RavenDW17's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Oh my goodness! Do it! I had my band removed and sleeve performed in one surgery just 5 weeks ago. It is completely different and so much better! My surgery took longer than expected due to scar tissue, but recovery was so easy as compared to the band recovery. I stayed 1 night in the hospital and was completely off of pain meds in 3 days. I had so many gas issues with gas trying to escape from my stomach and hitting the brick wall of the band. I don't have the same problems with eating healthy foods like I did with the band. I'm amazed that I don't really get hungry or crave food. Following the diet plan by my dr has been super easy. I don't really eat sugar or carbs. Just LOTS of Protein. I drink 80 oz of Water daily. It is wonderful! I was back to doing cardio in week 2 and had no energy issues past the first week. Once I was cleared to eat (week 2 for my dr. No purée phase) I was back at work and back to life as usual. The best advice I can give is to follow the doctors orders to a T. Don't think that you can do anything or not do anything that you did with the band. It is so different. I'm down 23 lbs in 5 weeks and workout at least 5 days per week for 1-2 hours. I'm adding strength training after I get the approval at my 6 week appt next week. I'm very strict about my eating, but it is so much easier now. Good luck! Is there anything that surprised you?
hmm33502 replied to 50yearoldme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was surprised by the stalls. I had heard about them but I experienced one at 1 week out for 2 weeks. I guess that I expected to consistently lose, but in the big picture I have lost 23 lbs in the 5 weeks since surgery. Not too shabby! I was sleeved at the end of December and we started at around the same start weight! I was banded back in 2010 at 327 lbs. my biggest piece of advice is to get more full body pics of yourself front and back!!! And make sure that you take measurements. I went through a 2 week stall where I lost NOTHING, but my super tight small size pants started to fall off! Good luck! How do you handle people asking questions
hmm33502 replied to XmeghannstarX's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Really? Never? I have been only sleeved for 1 month and I get questions or comments all the time. I just don't know how to get around going to dinner with people. I try to suggest active dates and outings where we aren't just sitting and eating or where I have more time to eat. I didn't have that problem with the band, but I also wasn't dating or hanging with people that I didn't know. My family knows and some of them are also sleeved, so no big deal, but wait staff is always asking if I liked my meal because I didn't eat it! How do you handle people asking questions
hmm33502 replied to XmeghannstarX's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't really thought too much about going to restaurants with friends/ co workers. What do u usually say when people ask or comments from wait staff? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I have gotten good about pushing food around on my plate where it looks like I ate more than I actually did! I also use the "I'm not feeling too great" excuse, but that doesn't really work 2 meals in a row. I really need suggestions from others who have faced this!!! How do you handle people asking questions
hmm33502 replied to XmeghannstarX's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes!!!! I don't have an issue telling people what I'm doing to lose weight because I'm eating less and moving WAAAAY more. I have an issue with questions like "you did t like your food?" Or "you didn't eat very much." I have anxiety about eating around new people.....and I'm attempting to date so anxiety is an issue! I have told some people about my journey, but it isn't the first thing to discuss when I meet someone. What do you say to people who comment things like "You didn't eat very much!" Or "you didn't like your food?" I'm asking in particular about people that I like and want to keep around so "how much I eat is none of your business" and comments like that aren't an option. Think new dating scenarios... Banded 2010 weight:327 Sleeved 12/28/16 weight:253 CW: 230 GW: 155 Heather in Texas

Barium Swallow After Surgery
hmm33502 replied to stephanie.napoli's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It was no big deal. I watched it go from my stomach into my small intestines and go pretty far pretty fast. It made it easier for me to feel better about drinking Water constantly. I saw how fast it went down and know that my empty stomach can't actually "fill up" with water. It did taste terrible! Who is doing everything RIGHT?
hmm33502 replied to anonmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure that anyone is "perfect" and it hasn't been easy, but I'm almost 5 weeks out and 23 lbs down from surgery. I had a 2 week stall in there where I lost nothing. It broke and I'm down!! I get 60ish Gm Protein and 80oz of water/liquid daily. I workout 5-6 days per week for at least an hour. I'm just doing cardio right now, but stepping it up after my 6 wk appointment next week. I am almost down 100 lbs and was very successful with the band, but had a revision due to complications. Don't let imperfection break you and don't compare yourself to anyone. Do exactly what your dr says to do! You will be successful! Banded 2010 weight:327 Sleeved 12/28/16 weight:253 CW: 230 GW: 155 Heather in Texas -

I did dip a chips in Chuy's creamy jalapeño sauce and lick it off! Luckily the people I was with were OK with double dipping! I was on any an all food at 3 weeks, so not ever missing crunching. Banded 2010 weight:327 Sleeved 12/28/16 weight:253 CW: 230 GW: 155 Heather in Texas -
How much did you lose the first week?
hmm33502 replied to Jcreasey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 13 lbs the first week then went on a 2 week stall with absolutely no loss. I tried to focus on healing and not loss for the first week. I am 1 month out and 23 lbs down. I started walking and exercising as early as I felt good. Banded 2010 weight:327 Sleeved 12/28/16 weight:253 CW: 230 GW: 155 Heather in Texas
