and even better......when was the last time you lost 29 pounds in 2 months AND knew it was never going to come back?!!?!
-
I started out with 100 lbs to lose, have lost 38 pounds in 13 weeks......but I DID have to up my calorie intake and try to get more calories with less carbs for it to work out. Give it some time....I thought I was going slow but my surgeon is thrilled.

I had a "significant" one repaired during my sleeve surgery and never knew I had one. I experienced no symptoms at all............

I know stalls are normal....but....
Deakay replied to feedyoureye's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I keep thinking I'm a slow loser, but my surgeon says not. 35lbs since my journey started with the 10 pre-op and has been 10 weeks today since my surgery. But I was hoping for more....lol. I had to increase my calories a bit to get things moving, and now that the weather is a bit nicer in Michigan I've been better with my exercise. But even though it seems I stall 2 out of every 4 weeks, I measure the inches during that stall....when I checked last week I'm down 17-3/4" as in HOLY SH*T! That's huge.....or was huge. Makes me wonder how I ever squeezed myself into these clothes because they aren't even close to falling off yet, well maybe some of the shirts. The absolute best thing ever.......even though I stall, I know for sure that it is 35lbs that I will never see again. So what if it takes twice as long to lose it, less saggy skin and gone forever?!? I'll take that! -
I'm here too! Saginaw area, sleeved on March 28th....... And Daydreamerz I hope yours goes as well as mine did. I've had a fantastic recovery
-
having never had an issue with finding the right size (yes I am a $5.00 clearance rack bra wearer) my gf and I both shop at the Leggs, Haines, Bali outlet in our area and can find cute bras for reasonable $$. And she is a 40/42 DDD, whereas I am a 38B....soon to be a 36B.

is easier for me to get up early and do it before work.....otherwise it doesn't get done
-
8 weeks since my surgery....saw my surgeon today. Told him you all said "hi"......Just kidding.
-
I didn't have any dressings or strips, but did walk around scratching my belly for a week or so...........and yep, put lotion on it for the intense times
-
I've had no complications and am so thankful I am now getting back into losing, but I still have a ton of restriction and can't eat much. So for now I am tracking and being really good eating every 2 hours during the week while at work. Unfortunately I blow it on the weekends and don't get enough calories or protein so that is slowing me down a bit. But am so busy! lol And I finally caved on my watermelon addiction......it was wonderful And no the carbs still taste ok and sound like a good plan, just doesn't really work out. Good luck with your surgeries........it is going to be awesome!

48 SWF......lol Have always wanted to start with that Anyway, I was sleeved on 3/28/11 by Dr. Matt Fourman in Midland MI. I had an awesome experience with my surgery and my post-op recovery. My pre-surgery weight was 248. I have stalled for the past couple of weeks, and even though I know its normal, is still starting to get frustrating. My plan for today is to go to fitness tracker and start logging everything to see where I'm at. I am horrible about measuring and tracking, but since I have such restriction I know I haven't been over-doing calories. I have been concentrating on getting my protein in and calling it good. I do think my brain could use a few carbs, am having post-surgical dyslexia, which I've never had an issue with before. Hmmm, if I were to have a carb what variety would I want? Who would have thought I could go 2 months without bread or potato? I have never blogged before, I hope it takes and I can update at least once a week.......I hope I take to it better than my dream journal

Which Michigan VSG surgeons are the best?
Deakay replied to debby01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called my insurance company and asked them to mail me a copy of their weight loss surgery policy and took it with me to the consultation. It sure saved a lot of time and heartache -

I had surgery in Midland with BCBS Community Blue PPO and they covered me 100% without comorbidies.. -
I hope she speeds along on her recovery....but we all have those "what have I done" moments. In 3 months she won't regret it
-
my dr. told me to use corn starch.....I just put some on every day under the girls with a make-up brush
-
Call the nutritionist, but how can you get that much in if you are only eating 3 times a day? And as far as the pound goes, I would try increasing your calories to 1000 - 1200 per day. I wasn't losing at all at 800.
-
think it would work with regular shredded cheese? I can't do the fat free......
-
Have a lot of restriction.....can't decide if that is good or bad, or if it will change as I heal more. I am just beginning my 6th. week post-op, 1 more week of mushies until I don't really have much for diet restriction. But yet I still find myself going back to 2 protein shakes a day because its just easier.......Not sure I will be normal anytime soon. lol

unflavored or chicken soup flavored protein?
Deakay replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I bought the unflavored from GNC and it is just gross.........tried to add it to broth, soup, etc...nope, just nasty. I may be able to add it to a smoothie to just use it up but my expectations aren't great. I did get some of the Unjury chicken soup flavor for my full liquid phase, and it is terrific. I still have it sometimes on my too-low protein days just because it is a nice break from the constant sweet flavors of everything protein, and it tastes good -
I know it's normal, but I'm still freaking out (Stall?)
Deakay replied to apple-saucy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been in denial about my stall It started just after the 3 week mark and haven't lost but 1 pound in almost 3 weeks......I have lost inches and am trying to hold on to that. I guess I will head over to the tracker thing and log food for a week or so and see if that helps. -
How long did your 3week stall last?
Deakay replied to Lanette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've only lost 27-1/2 pounds since my pre-op diet.....and I've added crystal light to the greek yogurt, works well too just don't add too much -
How long did your 3week stall last?
Deakay replied to Lanette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We have almost the sames stats!! I was sleeved on 3/28 weighed in on pre-op diet at 248# and had a 3-week stall as we all do.... Mine lasted a week and a half. You HAVE to get your Protein up to 70 - 80 grams minimum, drink the fluids, and my nutritionist had me increase my calories to break mine. So....2 shakes a day, and 3-4 "meals" that usually consist of cottage cheese, greek yogurt, string cheese, refried Beans, corned-beef hash with or without an egg, an omelet.....you get the idea. And take your chewable vitamin! I was only getting between 400 and 600 calories a day, increased it to 600-800, that seemed to help a lot. And when I get on full regular food next week she tells me 1000 calories a day. I don't do fat-free anything really, except the greek yogurt.....eat waaaayyyyy too much cheese (I poop like a rabbit), and am slowly trying to get to real food. Let us know, and I hope it helps. -
I was dong great, then I blew it!
Deakay replied to warrior68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its great that you are still working out/walking! I would take the little victories where you can and maybe consider going back to Protein shakes and no carbs for a few days just to get past the cravings. Have some sugar-free/fat-free pudding for chocolate. There is a better way to satisfy your appetite, and you know better than anyone what that is....... Use this tool to get back on track for your new lifestyle You can do this. You really want to do this. You really will do this! We all have faith in you, you can, you want to, you will......Just keep saying it. That being said, I have one more week before my food free-for-all and I want meatloaf dammit!!! lol, but I had to go back to 2 shakes a day to get my loss moving again after my 3-week stall. So we all have to make adjustments occasionally. -
LONG STALL??? or worst fear true??
Deakay replied to Hip's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
at 3 weeks I was still on liquids I too hit the stall once I started on foods, but with the helpful suggestions here it broke Friday ....... take your time, this will work. -
I've only been sleeved for a month, but I would say the surgery took the struggle out of the equation. It is by far a better way for me than the diet roller coaster. I would say there is more of a "challenge" to get the Protein in and follow the plan. Like right now, I know I need to increase my calories and Water intake to stifle a one-week stall, and its kind of hard to figure out a new way to do it that is the challenge. Mostly because I'm not eating regular foods yet. Yes, I've had a couple of moments with "head hunger" but I was able to ignore them and they went away pretty fast. I am a carb addict, so right now the only thing that scares me is the thought of adding some in without going over-board. This surgery will work for me, and it can work for you if you use it as the tool it is. It is amazing to me the lack of cravings and my ability to make better choices so far I can do this and I'm confident you can as well.
