    Meals A Day?

No solid answer as all surgeons are different. Did you get a VSG diet plan from your office? If not google - VSG diet because there are several out there. When losing I ate 5 times a day due to so much restriction, I could not get in enough Protein at just 3 meals. Now, I eat 3 meals a day because even though I am at goal and am not hungry, I have tended to skip meals. I was warned by my surgeon at my follow up that these habits put me at risk for being more likely to get type 2 diabetes. This happens to skinny people too and we have to eat to be healthy. So - answer is check with your surgeon and see what your health requires to meet your protien and calorie intake goals. Now is the time to relearn new habits, good habits. Best wishes!
  2. Incredible. Less than half way there and look how different life is for you already. What a bright future ahead for all of us!

Nov 22 Sleeved And Now I'm Miserable Help

Sweetie; So sorry you are having a rough time. I still can't tolerate scrambled eggs at over a year out. Really weird what our new stomachs can handle. Listen and learn that is what the first 6 months are about. Also had a lactose intolerance for 3 months. Have you tired some soup, don't recommend tomato as it is too acidic, try lipton chicken noodle strained of all particles or hot and sour soup from your local chinese restarant again strained. For over the first month, yes 5 plus weeks, I only had liquids. My new tummy was really mad at me. Started off slow with cottage cheese (one bite) and then greek yogurt. I know the desire to chew is overwhelming but get some liquid protein and try to keep hydrated. It is so important to sip each and every 15 minutes. Set your watch. You will be miserable if you are not hydrated well. Try g2 gatorade or zero powerade to keep up the electrolytes. What does your surgical diet plan provide to eat? Start off small. Slow eating. Used to take me 30 minutes to eat 1/4 cup. Poached eggs or egg salad worked but not scrambled. Tiffykins had this too. Hang in there - things will get better slowly. Hugs.
  4. Oh I love you and your diary...on my way to Starbucks right now to get healthy! Keep my addictions sugar free and protien rich.

    Ecstatic !

You should be estatic. Looking like you have all great things coming up in the next 45 days. A birthday, Christmas celebrations, New Year celebrations and a celebration to a new you with a new tummy. Congrats!
  6. Hi Kimmies; You look simply amazing...love the smile. Remember your start of this journey and liked watching your progress. Congratulations! Yeah, about 33% of WLS patients have to have thier galbladder removed at some point. Small price to pay for such incredible results. Keep smiling. Wow!

    Slimes!

Um, yeah those raw onions will kill you. On my post op diet, no raw vegtables for the first 6 months. I did have before then but in very small amounts. Raw veggies are really hard to digest. So take things in small amounts. Be gentle to your new tummy and hope you feel better soon!
  8. You need to turn that fear into excitement. We are fearful of what we do not know, so educate yourself. There is a great thread you can click on called "what you need for your hospital stay." Post op - well, I had this surgery done as an outpatient procedure and took liquid over the counter pain meds once to sleep only, not for pain. Now, I was uncomfortable (could not sleep on my side that first week) but never in pain. Oh and I am a wussy of the worse sort. I think them putting in the IV preop was worse than any pain after surgery. So, for you- read about being prepared. Pain in minimal but having someone around to fetch for you in really nice. Stock the pantry with those needed items to make yourself more comfortable. You can do this! The results are so worth the discomfort experienced.
  9. I am so sorry you are having such a rough time. You need to talk to your surgeon to get a stronger PPI and let him/her know about lack of bowel movements. But, TMI - I only had one about once a week postop remember than little input equals little output. A softener helps depending on how far out you are. Walking helps with the gas, really. Yes, lactose intolerant for first three months too, this could be upsetting you. Discuss with a medical professional. You are learning the new you and this is not always an easy path. Learn what you can do now and then later when stable, reintroduce some problem foods/liquids as you move along in this journey. At about 6 months out I was totally normal minus the quantity I could eat. I had learned new habits and new ways of eating. So, understand this is a process now. Wishing you the best and hoping you find answers soon.
  10. Great post Lisa; At goal, sometimes it is difficult to post a believeable story that it does get better and to hang in there. No one said VSG would be a total breeze. You relearn habits, new ways of eating and drinking. You fight the stalls and stick with the VSG diet plan your surgeon perscribed. Always hang in there - the sleeve works!
  11. Being happy/content and being fit. That says it all, Diva. You have arrived. Love it!
  12. I certainly hope they don't and in my experience, as feed your eye stated - sleeve works for anyone at any age. I lost all my weight (low BMI to start with) within first 5 months. Almost 80# gone forever. Now I fluctuate by about 3 pounds depending upon what slider foods I eat that day. Sticking to a hard core sleeve diet, I lose weight still. So, it is now about moderation which is ever so easy with the sleeve. Yeah!!! The sleeve works and I am in my mid 40's too.
  13. I didn't but 1) only my husband and a few close girlfriends knew about surgery 2) I didn't think of it I say enjoy and Celebrate anything. Congrats on your upcoming surgery.
  14. How exciting. Keep up the great work and rock that sleeve!

    Did Someone Say 159?

    Gotta be feeling great! Congrats!
  16. Hi Maddy; You need to contact your surgeon. Any sudden change needs to be checked out. I had this happen about three months out and needed to be seen. I was not getting enough liquids although I thought I was and my BloodPressesr turned out to be really low. So maybe you need to adjust your intake? Are you have trouble with all kinds of foods? Try something soft - eggs still make me sick. TiffanyC - sounds like you have the slimez. This is happens to some of us post sleevers within the first few months of being sleeved. For most sleevers this response goes away. This was my first "full" signal that my new tummy had enough. OrgeonDaisy still has this response at 2 plus years out. My slimez when away eventually. Now I sneeze when I am full (crazy huh?) Slow down. Maddy good luck and let us know how you are doing.

    Starting New!

What an excellent way to Celebrate a birthday. All excellent reasons for the sleeve. Echoing another posters sentiments....your great attitude will get you far. Your journey has begun, make the most of it. Cheering for your future success.
  18. Aw, so sweet for you to acknowledge everyone who takes time to post. This support group has helped me in many ways before WLS, during those first few months after surgery and now that I have hit goal. I too appreciate everyone who takes time to encourage, discourage and has the courage to tell it like it is. Good luck on your upcoming surgery - want a progress update when you are able. Hugs.
  19. Assume you have already talked to surgeon...what was his/her advice? If you are not getting enough liquids in, yes you will hate your sleeve. Hun, you need liquids as evidenced by your multiple hospitalizations. Take charge today. Advice- Sip more often and less quantity. If you have to get a shot glass and EVERY 15 minutes drink one ounce of G2 Gatorade or Zero Powerade for dehydration. Set your watch, kitchen time, iphone...what ever it takes. This is brutal but so necessary. Once you are not throwing up for 8 hours straight, try some liquid Protein. costco has some 30 gram or GNC carries 40 gram clear Liquid Protein. Expensive, but not as expensive as those hospital co-pays. Good luck and keep us informed with your progress. Hugs.

    What Are Slimes?

Slimees...lots of salivia or drool coming out of your mouth. Sounds attractive, right? After surgery when I started eating real foods, about a month out - I would get the slimeez when full. This response went away eventually but I did experience it. Crazy huh?
  21. Like any WLS, you will need to make VSG work for you. Grazing can kill your weight loss, don't be fooled. I graze now I am at goal, but prior to hitting goal I was vigilant not to do anything other than my surgeons diet plan. May I suggest you look in the Revision LapBand to VSG surgery forum? I think you will find a lot of people in your situation...maybe with real life responses since they can not only emphathize but sympathize with obstacles and choices ahead. My sleeve is amazing and I have no regrets.
  22. Sonia & Liliana; Good luck tomorrow...your first day of the new you. Remember to sip, sip, sip and then walk as much as you are able. Hugs.
  23. Sonia & Liliana; Good luck tomorrow...your first day of the new you. Remember to sip, sip, sip and then walk as much as you are able. Hugs.
  24. Took me over a week. Doctor told me, little input = little output. Iron suppliments might have something to do this also. Call your surgeon in the morning to feel better, but sleep well tonight.
  25. Hi Bryan; Your journey is very similar to many on this site, so I know you will be able to get a lot of good inforamation and in return, offer empathy and advice to others. The cycles for me were endless and discouragement was often my friend rather than foe. Do not be overconcerned about your appitite, VSG changes much and most VSG's experience a loss of desire for food. Crazy to consider as my life revolved around my need to eat. Excited to hear you have a great support system already. Concerns are normal, just do your research so you can be comfortable that VSG is right for you and your future.
