  1. Hi Paige; Congrats on being down 72lbs already! YEAH. Not much new to add beyond other posters, but you might want to double check your vitamins too. I take an additional sublinguial (under the tounge) B12 in additional to my normal suppliments. Also, you did not mention water intake/protien intake. You mentioned this just started two weeks ago, so are you getting what you need? Maybe you need more calories for a week, yes I said it. Sometimes your body needs a change as it has been losing wegiht so rapidly that a shake up helps. Add some protein or good fats like avacado/cheese for a week. If that does not work, maybe try add a few good carbs, like legumes. Eventually, you will figure out what your body needs. This is a learning process. Good thing you noticed now find what works. Hugs. I love my sleeve!
  2. Well and upper GI is nothing like getting scoped. But I think you are more annoyed that you have to do both after they told you one or the other. I just had an upper GI before surgery so they could see if I had gallstones (which I did) and pictures of stomach and liver, etc. Think that is the most important. So, for you - ask your doctor why both when then said just one. Did they find something that requires further tests or should they only have done one. Ask questions. Don't accuse just ask why needed. Good lucka and remember no matter what is to be done and the end of this you will be sleeved. Hugs.

    My Triumph Over Bcbs Fep

I had BCBS of IL and was denied. Of course my surgery was 9/17/10 and they started approving the sleeve as on 10/1/10. Yeah, I paid for it but it was worth every penny Love your tenacity and follow up with insurance not letting them off the hook. Oh - I was an outpaitent for my surgery and am glad I did it this way. My surgeon did not offer discounts for outpatient. Experience, technique of surgery and low risk rate of doctor is more important than pricing when chosing a good surgeon. You did what was right for you and I would have been leary of a doc who kept lower pricing and offering "specials." But don't discount all outpatient surgeries for VSG, it is the way barriatrics are going. I was glad to be home in my own bed without people bothering me all night long. No drain, no pain meds (none needed) and recouping in comfort. I spent a lot, but have no regrets. Congrats on a great fight to get your sleeve!
  6. I can only imagine your disappointment. I will fake smile with you and pray that time speeds along. Don't dwell on what could have been, dwell on what you are going to make happen with your new sleeve. Feeling you are going to rock your sleeve! Hugs to you.

Cali - You are amaizng! I remember your first post picture and I can see an incredible difference already. Just imagine what is ahead - total success. Congrats on your loss thus far and cheering you on for so much more!
  9. Ah, the tortureous two week diet. I almost passed out, ate my arm off, screamed, cried and mourned. Never once did I cheat and I am a weak woman. I know you can do this. Not going to lie and say it will be easy but the results are so worth it. One day at a time. Oh - at the end of the day after drinking my protien shakes all day, I rewarded myself with 1oz of turkey jerkey for the chew. Again - I know you can do this! Keep you eye on the prize - a new healthy you!
  10. Mr Worm; Whew - two full sizes dropped already? Yipee! Here is to that weight continuing to fall off you. Keep up the great work. I love my sleeve!
  11. Lacie - I agree. These boards were my lifeline too for that first year and people on here are such great inspirations. You earned that loss and it is your efforts that shed those pounds. Cheering you on to many more achievements and mini goals. Celebrate each one. I love my sleeve!

    Insides Feel Weird

I didn't have a drain, so I can not respond to as if this is normal. Maybe you should call your doctor's office tomorrow and ask to speak to a nurse. Usually they are happy to answer questions. Congratulations on being sleeved - I have no regrets.
  14. Congratulations on such a great weight loss already! Yes, our taste buds change for a while and some things you used to love you may never like again. That is okay. I learned to like new things too. Keep up the great work! I love my sleeve.
  15. Ah dramagirl28; I remember the start of your journey. Thrilled for your BIG goal so a huge congratulations. Looking forward to many more success. Hugs from one of your cheerleaders - iegal PS - come meet your fellow SoCal support group sometime, okay?
  16. Different surgeon than MiniMe & PDX man - I was an outpatient for VSG surgery here in the US. Loved being in my own bed that evening and yes, pain meds were not necessary.
  17. YIPPEE. I love not only this recipe but this website. Thank you so much for making me this excited.

    Any Low Bmi Folks Here?

Welcome - I started off with a 33 BMI - losing almost 75lbs in less than 6 months to hit my personal goal - 10 to 15 lbs below my surgeons goal. The doctor did not give me a time frame other than saying expect to be at goal within a year. Yeah, image how they felt when I walked in at 5 months at thier goal. I lost another 10 lbs (I go up/down 5 lbs now depending upon hormones and junk I eat) within next two months. So a tip- you will need to learn what your formula is and do not compare yourself to others as you will only be discouraged. Remember as all of us lose weight differently. Some lose weight by strictly adhering to a low carb diet (like me) while others must excercise a lot (LilMissDiva) or some lose slowly no matter what approach (Coop). This is not a race against one another or a timed finish. The sleeve works!
  20. Congrats on you being sleeved! First of all remember you are LEARNING about the new you so do not be too hard on yourself. Now is the time to learn new habits to carry you through. In my opinion, (I threw up also when eating) you might be eating too soon or too quickly. I did not eat for the first 4 weeks, liquids until then. So, next time you try something - try two or three tablespoons only. Stop. Try again in another couple of hours after you have concentrated on getting in those liquids. If you still have problems go back on liquids for a day or two and then try something different. Milk was intolerable for me. Scrambled eggs made me heave but not boiled then finely diced eggs. Crazy what I could tolerate and what I could not. My first foree into solids was two bites of applesauce. Next was cottage cheese. Then eggs. Next tuna with a little bit of mayo. Don't be discouraged. Each day is a challenge to grow and learn more. Hugs for courage and strength.

    Food Porn ( Graphic)

Quoting meg ryan... YES< YES< YES Yes, you will be able to eat this food again, just not in large quantities. I have had wings, street tacos, Indian food, jalenpenos (although not as many whole as before), BBQ, popcorn with butter, all of it. Nothing is forbidden any more. Because of this beautiful sleeve I can easily control quantities. Love this sleeve and being at goal. Patience to those of you in the process. Your time will come, sooner than you ever dreamed! Promise.
  22. This year I actually send a photo card with me included. B4 sleeve I was just a floating head or not in photo. Love this sleeve!

  23. Suggest you contact Lil Miss Diva - she lives in area and just had work done locally...I think. Good luck!
  24. Last meal was Moscato and popcorn. DANG - we need to meet. That was my meal one night just last week. Of course I added butter. Love this sleeve and being a goal where I can indulge every now and then.
  25. Highly recommend you do not eat anything unless approved by your surgeon. Yes, Protein shakes are liquid so try some of those. Now - since you were not given a diet plan you can always Google VSG diet plan or Nutritional guide for Sleeve Gastrectomy. I have about 10 diet guides that i have found and just used all in moderation. Caution is best right now. Wishing you great success! I love my sleeve.
