    Here's A Thought, Shut Up!

Since they have medical background, they feel they should impart there wisdom to you...after the fact. Ms. VeeDub gave great advice. Hugs across this site. Congrats on being sleeved...know you will be thrilled!
  2. For most VSG'ers the hunger goes away, eventually. But not for every VSG patient. I was hungry ALL the time to prior to surgery. For me it went away which was bad since I had to remind myself to eat. Slowly my hunger has come back, but not the all consuming demand of before. Now it might be head hunger...my sleeve allows me to have a tool to beat my demons. Measuring your meals in important and making sure you drink your liquids. Good luck!
  3. Hollirose; You are simply amazing. WOW! Congratulations on such great results!
  4. Congrats on such a great report!
  5. So many groups that can support you...by area, age, lifestyle, and more. Of course, we are all here to cheer lead you on to victory. So send me a private message if you are ever down and need a cyber hug of support. Congrats to all on your upcoming VSG surgery date. Exiting times ahead.
  6. Just wanted to say, thanks for the smile. I needed it. Awesome!!!

    Not Feeling Full....

liquids slide in and liquids slide out...so you might not feel full. I measured everything I ate for months. Some of us get a full signal...my early one was the slimies (drool) when full. Now, I sneeze. Crazy this little sleevie wonder. Take it slow and be patient. Your body and sleeve will change as you heal and go through different food stages. Congrats on being sleeved!!!! I love my sleeve and have no regrets.
  8. My tastes changed for months....long long months. Almost 6 months. This is a journey and your body is adapting to the new you and your new eating habits. Sometimes ketosis causes changes but is a great stage to lose weight. Don't get discouraged, okay? As others have said...each day gets better. I love my sleeve and have no regrets.

    Help!

Be brave and be willing to shake things up. Do you use Myfitnesspal? Great way to track everything. Try adding 100 calories of protien each day this week and see if something happens. Try cutting your carbs to below 50 grams a day this week too. Make sure you get in 64 oz of Water and above 60 gm of Protein this week. Be diligent & don't cheat. If nothing moves, contact your surgeons office to see if they have any recommendations. PS - I self paid more than you, so I know how scary this can be. Don't give up!!!

    7 Weeks To Skinny!

How exciting to be so close. Read what you can, so many here are open and willing to help. Wishing you the best on this start of your WLS journey. Looking forward to following your success story. I love my sleeve and have no regrets.
  11. We are all on here to support and help people pre and post op VSG. I do not believe that lying to someone or providing inaccurate statements "helps" them pick a surgeon. Stop posting opinions thinly disguised as fact. Any future posts about Aceves credentials need to have links to back up statements, otherwise consider them advertisements. I ask you all to reread my original complaint before posting a reply. My post here is not about my surgeon vs. Dr Aceves. Dr. Aceves is obviously a good surgeon, but he is not infallible, nor is he what Suzanne claims in her original posts in this thread since she is unable to provide support other than was Aceves website states. A lot of bravado and air fluff with no substance. These are lies unless supported with facts beyond surgeons website claims. No where do I attack Dr. Aceves for those of you who have chosen him as your surgeon. We are all winners (or losers) which is wonderful for each of us. Who contacted the lovely admin Diva? Me. I contacted Diva to read this thread knowing Dr. Aceves is her surgeon. She read my posts and did not find any fault with them. Really getting tired of same poster promoting her surgeon implying inaccurate statements. Search 2nd above poster threads...she dropped off of site for almost 2 years then came back posting with what seemed to be "ads" for her surgeon. Another VST member, in another thread, even questioned her motives asking if she was getting a finders fee for those seeking surgery with Aceves. I question everything, I research everything and kept coming up blank with this single posters statements being nothing beyond her option yet portrayed as fact. As a response...yes, my surgeon...who is not a god, although is a true pioneer of many WLS fundamentals as supported by outside sources beyond his personal website...has had complications. Dr Q will tell you of each one for they are personal to him. Dr Q, with 14 years of WLS experience and three world first WLS procedures being done by Dr. Quebbemann (as documented in previous postings), Dr Q is bound to have had a few issues. That is why they call it "practicing" medicine. All surgeons who have been doing this for a while all experience complications, even Dr. Aceves. Thank you "once again" for acknowledging that ever Aceves is not a god...somehow believing a man with Aceves experience has never having a leak. What a crock for those of you who believe this. Sorry you believe this tale. Again, RUN if a surgeon tells you they haven't had complications. Surgeon is either lying or does not have a lot of VSG experience. Sorry OD that you have failed to read Aceves complication posts, which was even commented on by Tiffykins about negative Aceves thread experiences being removed. Begging you...back up your statements or call them for what they are...your opinion. Once you stop lying or misleading fellow VST members, then I will graciously disappear. But as a defender of those who have not yet had surgery...all must be made aware that your proclamations are not truth but your opinion. All I ask is for you to back up your statements or just tell everyone this is your opinion...as listed in VST forum rules listed by Admin. Yes, many have a good experience with Aceves...I have no doubt of this. But DO NOT make false claims. Please abide by the rules as learn the difference between truth and opinion.
  12. Wow, as I suspected this is really getting ugly. Suzanne - Again, provide links for your comments...that is all I asked for in my post. None provided after 4 requests so I am highly skeptical of all the claims...as everyone else should be too. GGP said it best in post #44, do research outside of Dr Aceves website. Thank you to amykins who provided picture of Newsweek but as mentioned in this thread, not everyone listed is a good surgeon so be skeptical. Suzanne, I am not saying Dr. Aceves is not an excellent surgeon. What I am asking is for proof of all your statements. As to book - my sincerest apology to each and every VST member & Dr. Aceves for getting name mixed up. Again, trust no one for face value. Check everything out. Blondie - never did I say Aceves is a bad surgeon. So many of you are happy. Suggest you reread my posts. My claim is that Suzanne overstates his reputation thereby gives those newbies false information. OrgeonDaisy - you and I have been on this board too long together and we both have seen a edthread that has been removed about complications from him. But no longer can I provide since this thread was removed. Others VST have mentioned this thread missing too. I can provide that thread to support this if you want. SpeedBmp: Thanks for talking about article and reminding everyone that how surgeons are selected is in question. To summarize: DO YOUR RESEARCH ... and don't trust those who advertise for their surgeons. Saying this...my surgeon was on US national TV again this last week listed as an expert in surgical weight loss. HA HA, I am a crazy contradiction. Double check no matter whom you choose to operate on you. Be happy and confident with your choice of surgeon by doing diligent research, be it Dr Aceves or anyone else. Many excellent surgeons to choose from. Remember, none of our surgeons are gods. Anyone stating they have never had complications...RUN Hugs to all...I love my sleeve and have no regrets.

    Salad

Raw veggies/salad for me were 6 months. Too hard to digest. I sneaked in a bite or two at 5 months...bad me. Plus, lettuce has little nutritional value, so why bother? You only get calories from dressing. When in doubt, ask your surgeon. Good luck! I love my sleeve and have no regrets.

    Got The Date!

Yippee...doing a happy dance with you. Huge congratulations!
  15. Nai - so sorry to hear of the delay. Follow up with everyone. Ask your surgeons office for copies of fax confirmation reports or a copy of email submittal to insurance and to whom it was sent. Ask when they followed up and whom with. Ask why they scheduled surgery without approval. Now with insurance, ask the same thing. Who approves? Get a name. Send directly to them writing them personally and explaining (not yelling) that your claim was somehow misrouted and lost. Hopefully you will get another date soon. Your surgeon only makes money if you get surgery...so I would side with him or her.

    Acid Blocker Question...

Take as needed. I took one in morning and in evening. My new tummy was MAD about surgery for those first couple of months.

    Very Cool Nsv

    Huge NSV. Celebrate them all.
  18. Are you looking for when you felt like ... "Did I really even have surgery?" That was just about 5 or 6 months. My new habits were in place, hair stopped falling out even with Biotin supplements, and energy level was above pre surgery. I love my sleeve and have no regrets.
  19. I love spice...bring it on. Try just a dash of Tabasco as your healing tummy might not be as happy as your taste buds. Took me a while to build back up to gobbling down jalepenos/thai/curries.

    New Job ...new Sleeve

I was back at work after one week...and traveled across country that day to give a seminar. I was exhausted, tired and spent. Know you will figure this out. How exciting. A new job and a new you.
  21. Everyone is different as to what calorie intake. Plus carbs, sugar and protein account for as much as your calories. So, I would track all of the above and try to add in more calories. If you are worried about adding weight, do protein. If you are trying to maintain, add protein and carbs and see how your body reacts in two weeks. This journey is a learning experience.

    Pre Op Diet

My preop was two weeks long. liquid Protein shakes for every meal with one snack allowed like 2 oz of turkey Jerky a day. It was torture. But it prepared me for that post op liquid then mushie stage. Every surgeon is different as for requirements. Low fat/carbs/sugar shrinks the liver allowing your surgeon better access to your stomach. Less risks for the surgeon lacerating liver...which is good. Wishing you the best of luck for your upcoming VSG surgery.

    I Cant Believe It

Dang - what a disappointment. I can understand your anger. Hopefully this is the insurance company fault...I hope. Hang in there, this is not the end of your journey....just a detour. Sorry.
  24. WOW, our local hero, SLEEVE 4 ME is in the news. Read the article about her inspiring story. We all know she is still cheering us on to no matter where we are in our weight loss journey. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/54468-verticalsleevetalk-newsletter-10052012/#entry516875 Congratulations SLEEVE 4 ME! We are looking forward to talking with you yet again at our bi-monthly meeting, next held in November.
  25. Ha, ha. Sounds like a dream but some of us "experienced" sleevers whispered during our SoCal support group get together about how to stop losing weight. Seriously. I lost too much weight and needed to put back on weight. I looked sickly for my height/weight. I am still 10 lbs below surgeons goal weight for me. Sure, I looked good in clothes but I missed some of my curves. Yes, I said it. So, yes you know a million ways to gain back weight...but consider this...do you know how to maintain and not yo-yo diet for the rest of your life? Gain 5 lbs, lose 5 lbs and so on. Sound familiar? My body was extra stubborn too. I think some Weight loss clinics have wings named in my honor due to my repeat visits. Same with TV ads. Buildings built in my name for the money I invested. During maintenance you learn how to balance calories. It is a mind game. Will I gain back all my weight? Changing the mind to not count every calorie/carb that enters your body. Will fear overcome your need for control? When is your weight loss enough? When your surgeon says it is? When your body says it is? When you say it is? What is the right weight? Sounds like a dream but it can be scary so prepare yourself as you approach goal weight. I have seen a few VST members go overboard and go way below a normal BMI weight. IMO this is not physical but mental issue. We need support throughout the entire process, even after goal. Hugs to all of you. I love my sleeve and have no regrets.
