Okay, Swizzly, what exactly is "primal"- kinda low carb? So, if I understand it correctly, primal meaning what would have been available for early residents of Earth! lol Mainly, meat, veggies, fruits (within reason). Do you do any dairy at all? Like cheese? But not starches, grains, breads, etc. Do you ever eat any thing like oatmeal?

I'm really interested in doing it but.... wondering if allowing myself to "eat anything reasonablly" will work. I'm doing serious low carb and and sick, sick, sick of it but sticking it out because you tend to lose faster but I don't think it is sustainable for me long term. I THINK I could really enjoy this since two days, I would basically LOW CARB it for the 500 calories "fast" days and the other days add fruit, low cal portion controlled whatever. I think this would be more "maintenance" for us NOT weight loss it seems to me. Now, if you had a lot to lose or your body was not in the mode ours is in from long term weight loss, I think it would be a great loss plan. thoughts? I first thought I'm going to do that NOW, then I started losing on low carb to get the "re-gain" off and now scared to change! lol

Coops, yes, no "whites". The only problem is I find that after almost 3 weeks of this, I can't hardly stomach (ha!) anything of any Protein nature. Yuck! Just grilled chicken breasts, broccoli and green Beans and I might have eaten 3 bites! A couple of bites and then eck! lol I can manage Breakfast type meats - bacon, sausage, and an egg or two. I do eat nuts (and have to watch that because I will overeat those!) Today especially, things just taste "off." I've found that my tastebuds are all mixed up now. The "thought" of something sounds really good but when the real thing hits my mouth, not so much. I'm sure all of you have this too. If you could just have a small amount of something and eat it with it tasting good, I think it would be okay. Somehow or another, that is not the case with me. i do feel better just because I don't feel at all bloated and I have lost about 5 lbs (give or take a few ounces on a daily basis) and will continue with this but know that long term I couldn't just do total low carb. Feedyoureye, I think the 72% sounds about right too. And after losing 100 lbs, keeping 75 off for LIFE seems really good, even though I will def try to keep it ALL off. I'm about 80% right now. Coops, I say when that what ever it is goes away, you will be in the 150s permanently! Hey, while I am thinking of it, I bought the book/recipes for FASTDIET (originating in UK). Anybody tried this concept. Alternate fast days. I think this would be excellent for me if it could be done correctly. (smile)

In a heartbeat!!! Tomorrow! Life changing. But just know you WILL have to deal with junk food and snacking down the road. It's not a "magic bullet". So glad I did it.

I used to have regular massages and would die from embarrassment when the masseus would say something like" Man, you must really be HUNGRY,". Lol. Almost three years out STILL gurgles. -

BTW, I haven't heard or seen anyone with VSG who has regained ALL of their weight. A few pounds, yes, but I, honestly, with the sleeve don't know if it would be possible to ever eat as much or gain all if it back. I say do what your heart And soul says do. Your Mom is your Mom. We worry. It's our job. . She will be okay with it if you are positive it's for you. Good luck

I'm now 2 1/2 years out and up about 10 pounds from my goal. Lost 100 lbs and hit 150 at 8 months out. Held a few months and then started snacking too much on carbs and gained over the next fews months about 15 pounds. Got really upset about it and started trying all these different things such as truly low carb, WW, etc. Few pounds up, then few down and got really frustrated! Then, (smile) an amazing thing happened! I went on vacay to Disney World for 10 days, with A PINCHED NERVE IN MY NECK, (not smiling) and all the walking etc and pain somehow got me back on track! I know that sounds strange but it truly did. Now, I really feel like I'm just normal and not worrying about it all. Just watching what goes in my mouth and when. Amazingly, I've lost about 6 lbs in the last two weeks!!! lol So, I will be back down to my original goal soon and actually now, for the first time, understand that THIS is what normal is! No stress, nothing hard, just moderation and no constant snacks (which will slide right through that Sleeve)! Life is good - well, except for the physical therapy, heat packs, muscle relaxers and tins( sic?) machine! But, hopefully, this too shall pass! Go forth and conquer, Fellow Sleevers!!!!!

Runny Nose When Full
Georgia replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hee hee! I'm excited to see others sneeze! My husband thinks I'm crazy and my co-workers laugh when I start because I sneeze at LEAST 6-7 times when food gets to the "spot". And still does 2+years out! Funny how it affects all if us differently -
Way to go! Isn't it an amazing feeling to watch those sizes go down!

Hope For Second Year Sleevers
Georgia replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I wish I could be honest and say I'm not hinged and I don't want to snack and I like to eat really healthy but I would be lying so that cancels why I did this in the first place. I did easily lose 100 lbs with very little hunger in the first year or so. Once at goal, I gradually added back in some carbs and snacks and my appetite for them grew simply because even though I still have restriction for dense protein etc I can "eat around" my sleeve and gain if I choose. I have added back about 15 lbs over a year and now am concentrating on trying to eat normal and not deprive myself but watch what and when it does go in my mouth. My body does NOT want to let go of these extra lbs again. I admit I am not exercising right now. Too much stress and tired with all that goes on in my household right now. I do know this. I would gladly line up to do it again today of necessary. I am healthy, thin and plan on staying this way. But trust me at 2 1/2 years out I know I must work at it too. It is NOT a magic bullet. -
If You Had The Choice - Would You Do It Again?
Georgia replied to Babysteppin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any surgery can cause this. I had a huge chunk of my right thigh which literally burned and tingled even though it was numb when I had hysterectomy in 2000. VSG 10 years later (2010) and believe it or not, with the weight loss it is gone! And that was 10 years of numbness, tingling and pain! -

Hope For Second Year Sleevers
Georgia replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crosswind, you have it exactly. There are always ways around even a small stomach. If u continually eat high sugar, calorie junk food (and you can because most junk food are sliders) you will eventually gain weight. Will u eat like before? Nope. You DO get hungry and you CAN gain. But p, let's face it, we did this not for a magic bullet, but to get healthy. We all have to learn to eat NORMAL. Which in most cases, for most people, is portion controlled, NORMAL eating. Including Snacks, occasion treats and LIFE, lol. Get my drift? Normal. We weren't normal eaters or we wouldn't have needed VSG. I can remember telling a friend of mine pre-surgery, "I just want to be normal!". Well, now I am, and I don't mean normal in the sense obese people are unnormal. I mean, look around, at people who seem to just EAT normally and go about life in the same way. My head has to catch up to that fact. Did anybody watch the first Rikki Lake Show? She covered this topic talked about the very things we are discussing. I am 5'8" 164-169 right now and that is 10 pounds up from a year ago at goal. Too many mini- meals, Crosswind, of high caloric content so again I am rethinking my choices and logging everything that goes in and making better choices in order to lose that 10. Still happy where I am and am at a healthy, livable place for my body if I don't. No meds, normal levels all around and that is what counts! Best to all. Thanks for keeping me inspired! -
