    The 5:2 diet

FastDiet is 5:2. Five "normal" days. 2 Fast days withal 500 calories. Book says 25% of TTEE bit sleevers generally don't eat the 2000 they base the 500 on. We are all following the 500 women/600 men method. Better to NOT be consecutive for us. 12 hour "rest" preferred for maximum fat burning. For example, the day before your fast you eat at 7pm nothing else till morning. If you ate at Breakfast at 7 you would have a 12 hour window. Eat your small meal, Protein Shake or whatever works for you (I do oats) others do Greek yogurt, eggs, cheese/veggies. If you need to small snack mid day then dinner 7 or so. No more then you would have another 12 hour window Tim the next morning. I eat usually late morning or mid day who h means I have a longer rest to start then small snack and that leaves me around 300-350 calories for dinner. Grilled chicken stirfry, Tina salad, lean cuisine. Whatever works for you. Maybe some fresh fruit. Done. Then next day NORMAL for you. I fast Tues/Thurs. others do Mon/Thurs to spread out days. I have completed 3 weeks. Lost 14 pounds. Been lucky. Average weight loss 1-2 week. I am being very conscious of everything in ALL days. Logging all in MFP and exercising 30 mins ( big for me!) most days. Lifestyle. Don't even really think about it at this stage. Not hard for me at all. Others say otherwise. But THIS will be my maintenance. Once reach goal again (6-7 lbs) want to get down below to have 2-3 lb bounce and then it's just life or 6:1 if I think I can keep it off that way. I have small treats usually once a week during social events. I eat CLEAN and healthier and MUCH less on normal days. Sleeve has really shown up again and true hunger. There you have it. Hope that helps, Friend!
  2. Just start out right! No more than 2 lb bounce I'm told. So as I say not as I do! Lol. BUT in a few more pounds I DEF will. No more regain. They recommend 6:1 for maintenance too
  3. Oh, and FYE, Coops, Laura, gang, down another pound this morning!!!!! Whoop!!!
  4. You know, Oregondaisy, I just responded to you on the 5/2 thread and I feel your pain. I let myself get way off base and regained too. Working on it now and have much hope in what is working for me now. I don't think we truly realize that MOST thin people WORK on staying that way too! As they say, " it takes work to look this food!" It was so easy for me to lose the initial weight Nd reach goal that I got really lazy thinking I would be okay eating junk. Nope! The realization has finally dawned that it will have to become a true "thin" lifestyle. As they say, "nothing tastes as good as thin!"

    The 5:2 diet

Bbbarbie, I agree. Stick with your Drs instruction and plan. It will come off and you will be better off while still healing. Good Luck! Connect with others who are at your stage so you have a real community of folks who are where you are right now.

    The 5:2 diet

Great backup data for 5:2 or AF. Conclusion The use of intermittent fasting offers the potential to improve weight loss and enhance the cardiovascular health of overweight and obese individuals with type 2 diabetes and reduces cardiovascular risk. This type of intervention is cost-effective and associated with a low risk of adverse events.

    The 5:2 diet

I AM DOING THURSDAY! Half day gone and my bowl of oats eaten at 11am. Not even remotely hungry. So weird. Mind over matter, I guess. Look at you, Laura! I would love to ride the toboggan thingy. I think. Enjoy CO.
  8. Oh, this is SOOO me! I dont HAVE to have bread - yes, the occasion biscuit in the morning or "pigs in a blanket" yep! And I love toast, though, i don't rarely indulge. But what derailed me this past winter was the sweet sliders! I could and did down a bag of little white powdered donuts with no problem and Hersheys kisses, well, let's just say it wasn't pretty! I realized then there was still that little addict inside of me waiting to be unleashed! So, now, I MIGHT indulge in the rare sweet at a social event but not a habit and not frequently. I just have to abstain because one is NEVER going to be enough. I read Dr. Oz who and i quote, "Indulge yourself! Now if I want a piece of cake or pie, I cut me a slice and have one big bite and relish the taste of it. Then walk away!" YEAH, RIGHT! Raise your hand if after that bite, you could WALK AWAY! I thought so. No hands raised! lol
  9. Read the blog and can relate. I TELL myself I will only do moderation but this only works with things I dont ABSOLUTELY LOVE and thus, it's abstainence! Ha!

FYE, I also just noticed your Surgeons Name!!!! Who could go wrong with a name like that!!!! lol
  11. Okay, I "added" all you who listed your MFP and you probably will get request from me. georgiasm1 on MFP! Community! Love it!
  12. OregonDaisy, do you have a user name on MFP?
  13. I think you hit the nail on the head, FYE! Once the initial, "oohs and aahs" are over from friends/family and the real life begins we former "fatties" tend to forget that we did this to build a BETTER, HEALTHIER life! Beginning to THINK normally may never happen completely since we spent so many years using food as our friend, enemy, counselor, partner in crime, and whatever else you allowed it to be! And i heard someone yesterday - totally different venue, never been large - say, " Even though I was a size six now and was a size eight, NOW size two is where I WANT to be! Yep! Never settling can be good and it can become our worst enemy. As FYE said, we have to find ways to build a new life around things other than food. At the very "mature" age of 59 1/2, that can be easier said than done but the Georgia I am today sure wants to go and do and live and love and enjoy life to the fullest!

Okay, BIG NSV and on a Fast day! Have you ever fed 50 people big, fat meatball laden with sauce and Parmesan cheese on an empty stomach? Well, I HAVE, lol. My month to feed the homeless shelter for my life group and luckily, didn't have time to even sniff them! And we ran out so there were no leftovers! (All got fed- seconds were given out). Yaay, to me! Now, where is my Lean Cuisine? And then I still have about another 150 left over to eat in a hurry since it is 7pm!
  16. YOU LOOK AMAZING, COOPS!!! Seriously.

    The 5:2 diet

I just thought, "This really will be a way of life!" Not even thinking about the fact that I am only having 500 cals today. Amazing!!! I'm loving the 5:2 lifestyle so far

    The 5:2 diet

One thing I've noticed here from all trying 5:2. When you do a shake or yogurt Oma NORMAL day (prior tostarting5:2) did it hold you for the allotted time between meals? It wouldn't me. I don't really get hungry between meals on on the fast days but I eat either oatmeal or eggs for breakfast then usually a string cheese around noon then a good dinner. Yes, I know the high Protein level in Greek yogurt is supposed to help with hunger but it really doesn't for me. Just a thought if you find yourself getting hungry. To have shakes, yogurt, etc. all day would NEVER enable me to long term handle it and we are trying to establish long term lifestyles I think. At least I am. Just a thought. And Laura and Coops, happy vacay!!!!!
