  1. Yeah, I managed for about a month! Ha! Only my husband and daughter (well, bestie too) knew. But my other childhood friend flat out asked me after going to lunch one day since I could only eat about a spoonful. When I got a couple months out, I quit worrying about it. When people would ask how I was losing, I'd say "Portion control!" Which IS true. Good luck, All! 3 years out - and 100 pounds lighter. You're gonna love it!

    The 5:2 diet

My sons friend just stopped by and said I looked "skinny" that didn't hurt Love it, Laura! You are always good for a "pick me up" laugh or too!

    Eating as a vet adaptation

I firmly believe gaining is just a "state of mind." Fiddleman, it's what you said "match your lifestyle with your eating habits. I can DEF eat more 3 years out but it is stuff I SHOULDN'T eat. If I stick to the guidelines, Protein first, veggies, no "whites", the restriction is still there in spades! It comes down to former addicts recovering fully and understanding that for some it means stay away!!! Others can be more moderate and increase exercise. Our metabolisms don't "magically" change because we have the sleeve. Its like they say in the tech world, "garbage in, garbage out!" You eat junk, you will gain "junk" (maybe in the trunk!) Love all my fellow Vets!!! So glad I have all of y'all! (Yes, I'm from the South!)

To track or not to track?

I have LEARNED to be a tracker. The hard way! No tracking, no real commitment for several months of grazing and yep, regained 20+ lbs. NOW, I'm a fanatic for MFP and accountability for me. Have lost 18 pounds, just a few more to get back to original goal at 3years out. I found out for me, I'm going to have to. Saying that, I hope I don't fall back into bad habits once I'm "there!" I tend to relax after I've reach a goal so, hmm, I'll have to think up something else to keep me - like losing BEFORE I go on my November cruise so I won't be a blimp when I get back!!!! Ha!

To track or not to track?

That "stalking" thing would kinda irritate me! Lol
  6. Ms. Skinniness, that is EXACTLY where my body liked to be until I let go of it! Ha! No, 145-150 is a "set point" for me. My "early life" that was my weight for years then LIFE happened and I went up and then up and then up... Well, you get the picture' but it is where I will hopefully set my "forever" weight again.

    The 5:2 diet

I weigh usually everyday but I know now (after several weeks of fasting) how my weight is going to fluctuate pretty much based on fast/norm and by the end of the week (from Fri morning to next Fri. morning) I am usually down a pound or so.

    The 5:2 diet

Yep, that weight is IV! It will come off now that you are feeling better. I haven't not experienced the pleasure of kidney stones but I hear they are EXTREMELY painful!

Three and a half years later

I'm 5 months behind you! Hit 3 years June 10th. Almost identical. Weighed 250, lost 100. Regained 20 - now have lost all but 5. Good work! I am not the exercise guru you are, though. Don't have quite the stamina at 59 1/2 but am exercising. Using 5:2 method to lose regain and to go forward as a lifestyle. Good to hear from your post! I know it is encouraging to many out there!
  10. Well, had my "3 year" surgiversary appt. this morning. All TEN minutes of it! lol " How are you?" Doing fine. " Looks like you have kept your weight down and followed the guidelines." (I shake my head up and down. Not telling him otherwise! " Let me see incisions to check for hernia. Wow, Can't hardly see them! See you next year!" And I have to pay for this. My bloodwork was good, though, except for Vitamin D low (as usual) AND I weighed less today than I did LAST year! Yaay! Now, back to normal. I'm off track and feel like I need to fast today because it is my regular fast day but I fasted yesterday! Not particularly hungry either. Anyway, hard to believe 3+ years have come and gone so quickly! Happy Tuesday, Everyone!

    The 5:2 diet

All of you are awesome! Or ALSOME as my husband says! Lol. The way I look at it is don't worry about the bounce up on normal day because by the end of week I am usually Down below the lowest low and lost a pound or so. It all comes out over the week'd time. So you can't judge if it will "hold",or at least I can't, by one or two days.
