How many vets are actually AT goal and staying there?
Georgia replied to clk's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
M2G, To get back on track we attended a Back to Basics class offered by our surgeon (free...yay!) It was great because we needed a review of the Rules of the Tool. I chatted at length with the instructor (my fav. NUT from my surgeon's office) about the 5:2 plan. She had not heard of it, but upon my insistence that several sleevers who are 2+ years out are swearing by it, she said she would be fine with me trying it. I'm to check in with her in a month and we'll revisit where things are at. My husband thinks I'm a little cray cray to try it, LOL, but he probably doesn't need to do it at this point in time. WOW! Wish my surgeon offered that! -
Nope, if you are one year out from surgery (so we don't have "newbies" screwing up their sleeve and not following Surgeons' instructions) and have followed the diet for at least 2 weeks to see if you really like/will follow it, request to join and you"re in!!!!

It was changed to a group instead of a thread. You are welcome to join the group. We did it since it is designed for those at least one year out from surgery and trying to reach or maintain.

It was! I'm lucky enough (blessed) to have not One But Five almost lifelong friends who have been there for it all! The good, bad and yes, THE UGGGGGLY!!! One of the five refused to be a YaYa, said she didn't have the energy! Ha! Well, about all we do when we are able to get together now is yack, eat and sleep! But, boy, we do a bang up job of it! And we find interesting places to do it! Ha!!

Yes, original 5:2 plan based on 25% of TDEE (average woman 2000 man 2500). Knowing most sleevers do not eat anywhere near that I just used the same I was using daily which was between 1200-1300 and the same as regular 5:2ers fast days 500 calories. I honestly can't remember when I started I believe around first of June. As of last week, I had lost 18 lbs. bounces up a couple today after a great weekend with friends which really kinda surprised me when I had walked a whole lot and even though 3 full meals a day didn't feel like I had overeaten but hey, I had a great trip and know it will be off this week. I am very happy with this eating plan and know I will regain my original goal soon and Coops, maintain long enough to reset my SET POINT! LOL.

Here's a pic of me and the YaYas from this weekend. And that's about as hard as it got from Friday til Sunday! LOL

VERY INTERESTING. I KNOW MY BODY HAD A SET POINT. I FEEL I DIDN'T HOLD MY NEW ONE LONG ENOUGH TO LET MY BODY ADJUST. from the webmd article. Losing 10% of your body weight, and keeping it off for six months to a year, helps your body reset your set point, notes George Blackburn, MD, in his book, Break Through Your Set Point: How to Finally Lose the Weight You Want and Keep It Off. When you lose large amounts of weight at once, you set up an internal struggle and hormones spike to make you hungrier as your body tries to defend its comfortable range, Wadden explains. That's why experts recommend losing 10% by changing your eating and exercise habits, and then maintaining your new weight for a few months before trying to lose more. Your body will get the signal to lower its "set point," and you'll get used to new food choices, smaller portions, and regular exercise. Blatner says she has seen people who lose 10% of their weight "start to realize how a little weight loss impacts their health in very positive ways... They feel better, sleep better, have more energy or less joint pain, and some people are able to reduce medications." Based on your current weight, eat about 10 calories per pound of nutritious food (low in fat, rich in lean Protein, high in fiber), get regular exercise, and assess your weight after a month or so. "Your weight will settle out and typically you will lose 10%, then hit a plateau, which is a good time to maintain the weight loss," Wadden says. As you get to a healthy weight, you can go up to 12 calories per pound.

Well, it was a great weekend and I walked, walked, walked. (all there was) and boy, it's a good thing! Up 3 lbs this morning!!! Ugh! But I guess with three catered meals a day plus yummy home made desserts thrown in I should be happy. I didn't truly overeat. Couldn't. Restriction is seriously strong now but all high calorie content. Fast day tomorrow and low calorie today!!! ill post a pic of me and the girls later on get to goal.

Well, I'm sitting in the middle of fields between rice, corn and soybeans in a big lodge called CrossHeirs. It's remote, secluded and lovely with my four other YaYa friends and husbands for the weekend have a chef cooking so you can imagine. . I am walking two miles morning andevening and not overeatng. So far. Lol

Not sure I like the group thing. . You can't view groups from the mobile apps that I can tell. Only full web version.

Did that. There was no thread started. I started one. Called 5:2 with a post. Is that right?
