Thinking Of Having The Sleeve Done , But Im Scared Any Words Of Wisdom ?
Georgia replied to luv2plumb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You know, I was one of the lucky ones, no bad experiences. Came home after two nights in hospital on a Friday. Went to work half days on the following Wed and then full days the next week. Drug out, yes. Sick, no. Pain, very, very little! Tired, yes. But, overall, nothing like I imagined. And it's all uphill from there! Good luck! -
Another thing, plain Water made me REALLY nauseous (and still does somewhat) so make sure you have some flavoring or Protein water on hand for a while. Most everyone I know didn't handle straight water well for a while. Good luck to you! Yes, it is a drag sip, sip, sipping - but "this too shall pass!"

3 weeks post-op: Pizza and Pasta?!
Georgia replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Others have already stated the obvious. You made the difficult choice to have weight loss surgery so that you could get healthy and live longer while enjoying a full life, I think. If at three weeks you are already sabotaging yourself, I would really think about getting some counseling to go along with your new "sleeve." Yes, we all DO make mistakes, so the best way to help yourself with the emotional side of this sleeve thing is to just get some help. Seriously, it's a "mind game" as well for those of us who are "food addicts." I wish you well and success!!!! -
You look great! congrats! And after a baby!!!! Yeah, Girl!

Oh, wow! Now, aren't you proud??? Keep up the good work!

agreed!!! Private. Exclusive. Members only. Just us. LOL

Was this done in the states or Mexico? I agree. Do you think it was do by a general surgeon and I hope not a quack! Looks really bad and jagged to me too. I do realize with a lot of excess there are different situations but yikes! That's really scary looking.

I so agree! I get positively sick at my stomach after having been in and out of stores like Bath and Body Works, etc with all the "smells" and perfumes. I had to quit wearing perfume years ago because it started really soon a number on my sinuses and headaches!

Whom are we "testing?" ))

Please Help Me Wrap My Head Around This...
Georgia replied to LipstickLady's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Ha! Dehydrated peach! How true. I had melons and now shriveled peaches too! I don't really care, though. All those gripes about gaping blouses and buttons in happy with no gaps now! Lol -
Wow! Hope you get answers, Camper! I have had the low potassium and have taken liquid a few times. Once so low they wanted to hospitalize but I convinced them otherwise. Take care. It can cause heart attacks if your potassium gets extremely low.

Yeah, I was a sneaky eater too. Learned it from the best, My Mom! Drawers with candy bars and sacks under the bed. . Anybody remember those days. The weird thing now is I can totally overeat on junk if I get started that's why now I just try to not have that stuff in the house although, at Christmas, there is more here for parties, etc. But the weird thing I just went to Christmas luncheon with dressing, turkey, mashed potatoes, four layer delight, rolls, green beans! I probably managed 3 bites of dressing, turkey and a bite or two of potatoes. 2 bites dessert! How weird is that??? Sometimes this sleeve is crazy!!!! But now, I don't stress as much about something here or there because I think I can handle it with a fast day or so.

Reading all of your posts makes for a jolly afternoon! We are definitely an eclectic mix of wonderful friends! Globe, I LOL on the "arm" part! I do that sometimes, hold the skin under my arm and think, "Wow! My arms would be so skinny!" Ha! Weird. Switzerland, California, Oregon, Colorado, Afghanistan. And the list goes on! Isn't technology wonderful?? Here's me and the hubs at Christmas Luncheon today. Didn't realize this sweater looks so big!!

Bless your heart, Sweetie. I fully understand. Went through years of it with my son. Unless you've been through it with a child it is hard for others to comprehend and others tend to think since we are the adults that we HAD to have caused it! Good for you on the honesty with her. I lived many years With guilt thinking they're MUST have been something I could have done to change things. Sometimes there is simply NOT. some kids only learn by the road of hard knocks. And we suffer along with them because we would gladly take it if we could to help them be okay! I agree that you need to care for YOU and in Doing so will be better able to help your daughter. Take care. Good thoughts and prayers your way!!

Attention Veteran Sleevers!
Georgia replied to gastricsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it is definitely harder the farther out you are unless you figure out a good maintenance plan and stick to it because it does become easier to eat more foods and lots of "sliders." If you stick to basics, track your food/calories and exercise you will be fine. My sleeve is still really tight if I eat correctly!!
