Georgia replied to Christina760's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow! You look awesome! -
Hee hee!! Did you happen to watch the Grammys? Mercy! It was sad to watch him. He didn't even know what to do when he was presenting.

A friend of mine uses Zenni Optical and swears by it. I haven't ordered yet.

Boy, I know what you mean about carbs, CGJ! I am going to have to truly detox this week. I want to eat constantly and it's all carbs!

Dear Veterans, has your hunger returned?
Georgia replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Serious, I think you might be surprised. I always described myself as "big bones!" And I do have a bigger frame but it's so weird how your body fools you! Good luck! -
Yep, Florinda, I feel for you. I'm lower In weight since probably maybe, um, the 6th grade and even though I'm thin NOW all the skin is dimpling and wrinkly! It seems to be much more so than even 6 months ago! Yes, I know I'm older but heck, I'm thinking, "I look like my Aunt Eva did at age 75!" It's kinda depressing. But as Dee said, no choice here. We keep hitting it for healthy sake. (BTW, Dee, happy you are FINALLY going to have some order in your life again. And I'm sure that will aid you in getting back to pre-house disaster disciplines)

Dear Veterans, has your hunger returned?

I don't think that for most of us TRYING to get to a very small size is primary. In my case, I am 5'7 1/2 to 5'8" and reached goal of 150, regained simply from eating too much slider junk foods over a thee year period. When I finally got back to goal, I lost another 10+ pounds so that I could have a REAL bounce AND that is the ideal goal range for my body type, height. So, I was truly surprised to find that I was wearing size 4/6 skirts after only losing 10 more pounds. At 150, size 8 was standard. When I regained 27 pounds which put me up to 177, an unhealthy weight for me, I was in size 12. My body's setpoint is being reset and consistent to between 139-145 and I am trying to get down to 135. Vanity? Probably a little. Healthy weight for the rest of my life. More importantly, yes. Hunger is there more if I indulge in carbs. A trigger for me which had happened this week. Insatiable HEAD HUNGER! 5:2 helped me deal with this and lose the weight but maintaining HAD to be a lifestyle and it's very easy to fall back into "ill do better tomorrow" kind if behavior with former obese people. -

I stay cold all the time! Was VERY hot natured before! Yep, lots of layers for me now! -
I think i would like Zumba. Just afraid is to look like a real dork! I think many of the curves have personal Evans but not sure about trainers since it's pretty much just rotation type program. But I think you will like it!

So proud of your courage, Kim. You are proactive on many counts, (WLS and Boobies . So sad to hear of your loss. I know your norther would be very proud of you and that your good memories will help you through the dark times. We are all here for you. Hugs and prayers. Just try to be vigilant about HOW/WHAT you are eating and graze. Your body definitely needs good stuff right now to recover efficiently. The extra few pounds will work themselves off once you are back up and moving. Keep in touch.

LMD, you would be surprised how much can be eaten with 500-550 cals if you plan right. . But like you said, it has to work for YOU. You know what i am finding so interesting here? We are discussing WL strategies AFTER WLS! But Now, we are Normally losing or trying to lose those "few more pounds"! We have to truly find what works for us post surgery, whether low carb, 5:2, 8hr, tracking. Exercise. Maintenance is HARD! It is! Anybody who tells you otherwise is either not far enough out or super lucky!!! Yep, I get hungry and my meals only seem to last a few hours now too but 5:2 seems to help with that also. I've told some of my "friends" who think I've just magically stayed slim and that my surgery means I'll never gain weight and can eat anything I want, I've worked HARDER in the last 6 months than in the prior three years! Re-losing is a LOT harder so find a good balance/maintenance for you and stick it! Right now, I've given in to the carb calling and know that I've got to pull myself up out of it NOW so I don't undo any of my hard work. Yeah, it ain't all fun and games! (Til I slip on the size 4 skirt!) -
I TOTALLY agree with this. I've found in last few weeks that's mini babybel will stem hunger better than other things for me too
-
Okay, I've seen others mention this too. WHAT kind of cheese is this? Oh yes the almonds! I HAVE to buy in 100 cal pouches and refrain myself!!!!
-
So funny to read this now as I JUST went through closets and drawers again! (3 1/2 post VSG). I, too, have BIG PJs and undies. I like having LOTS of "draws" and I just kept digging around the BGP every day! Dumb. And I could not believe the amount of L and XL stuff I had that was too big now. Once getting back to goal and another 10 pounds my body shifted again and those sweaters I thought I would keep and be able to wear are WAY too big. You know that old image of "bigger and looser is better"we all lived by? No more! I took a Back end FULL to the resale shop last wknd and the BGPs are going in the trash!!! (BGP-big girl panties)

I'm 55 And Had My Sleeve Done On August 8
Georgia replied to CreateHealth's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow wow wow! 78 lbs in five months is awesome! You must have been a "smaller" obese person if you only have 3 more pounds to goal. . Lol ( is there such a thing?) Oh, yes! It certainly takes a while to begin to view yourself differently and even then, it seems somewhat foreign. . And, I'm over 3 1/2 years out and my "eyes are still bigger". It's so weird!!! And even better ( I know you do this too) is looking at a piece of clothing hanging on a hanger and thinking "there is no way that is going to fit" to find IT EASILY DOES!! Way to go!!! Keep up the good work! -
Just joined and wanted to introduce myself

That's what I was wondering about. This plication to is JUST that. Not band too, right? -
Yep, sometimes the younguns KNOW more than us and kinda condescend to you! Ha! YOU know your body and overall strength right now. It seems really early to me to do this type strenuous regime, doesn't it? I'd be very careful for yourself!
-
Man, I hate to hear this, Sarah! I live in fear everyday of that "phone call" or as you say, the"silence", when you know! What a friend you are! How long a drive for you to Texas? Friends that STICK. I HIGHLY recommend Teen Challenge. And the Teen is a misnomer. The ONLY rehab that has been successful for my son and it's basically free if she has the ability to so something like this. Corey had to hit rock bottom and then some. We had spent many $$ on expensive rehabs and hospitalization but TeenChallenge approach worked. It is a year long program though.

Whew! I feel some better. LOL we have ten years. (Not really) ROCHESTER, Minn. — People 70 and older who eat food high in carbohydrates have nearly four times the risk of developing mild cognitive impairment, and the danger also rises with a diet heavy in sugar, Mayo Clinic
