Just read this on an article Twin British Doctors did. Low fat versus low sugar diet. Of course, the low sugar, low low carb versus the low fat high carb won. Both lost weight but low carb low sugar lost 9 pounds in a month. Susan Jebb, professor of diet and population health at the University of Oxford, agreed with their conclusion. “Processed foods pack calories in and are unbelievably attractive and delicious,” she told the Daily Express. “They are temptations for all of us and it is astonishing that any of us stay slim.” ####. Okay, what we call a BLT. Bacon, lettuce, tomatoe sandwich. What's brown and red sauce? Ketchup is red.

ONLY thing that works for me is DayQuil. Does not make me drowsy and works every time. It comes in liquid or liquid gels. And I use the "store" brand too. Same thing just cheaper.
-
Switch up your diet for a few days during feast days like more good fats etc and them go back to norm on fast days. Sometimes works for me. Even if it's more carbs. It's weird but works!!
-
Hmm?? I want to know too. Maybe Alex? Alex, are you there?
-
What is a bacon "buttie?" I'm guessing a Wales Cracker! Lol.
-
Girl, I know the feeling! I think it's because it's Winter for me. I LOVE crackers! I was completely off them while still in losing mode with 5/2. Now, in somewhat maintenance I'm allowing them but boy, seriously, I could eat them FOREVER and never get overfull or satisfied! Seriously, like CRACK! Ha!

I Want To See Before & After Pics!

I agree! You look like a MAN! Ha! I hope that sounds right and you know what I mean! Chiseled and nice looking! Way to go! -
Yes, I plan on a snack between meals most days too. And yes, it is true - you can eat a lot more farther out so that's where "tracking" and paying attention to WHAT you are putting your mouth really has to kick in. I do know, though, that I am experiencing more acid tummy as mentioned than ever before. I never noticed it at all but now I am starting to. According to research it can kick up around 3 years or so. I do have a prescription for Omeprazole that I take when needed. Should probably take every day.

How long did you crush your meds post op?
Georgia replied to Tlambsleever's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I only crushed a couple of days then just took I took one a time and made sure to flush. Them down. Boy, I made a couple bad mistakes when I was still taking BP meds. Took pill with Water and laid down to go to bed only to wake up with the most horrendous burning in my esophagus! I,obviously, didn't wait long enough to let it pass through and it literally took HOURS to stop burning! I finally threw it up !!!! Awful awful feeling Be careful. -
Wanda, I agree with Kim and others. I think you need to set a goal for yourself even if it is in increments - like "10 pounds lost by Easter" or something. I believe we do better if we have a goal to push toward. At least, for me, that's true. And your overall goal anyway is your health! I truly believe YOU can be in the "onederland" group, too!!!!! It's only fifty pounds! Yep, that's right ONLY 50!!! Wow, what perseverance you've had! You've finally made it work for you!!! That's awesome!

Wow!!!! I'm glad you took the time to write out this post! I enjoyed reading it completely. Girl, you DID doge a big bullet!! And the sugar cravings - this is so true - if I even start eating sugar I want more and more and more. Now, my thing is PB cheese crackers! It's like crack to me!! Seriously!!! It is a struggle to be happy with our bodies - even now at lower than I've ever been as an adult. I don't think my surgeon ever mentioned a goal to me either. I just knew I wanted to be at least 150 - a good weight for my height and that would be a 100 pound loss. Another goal I set for myself. Glad you found OA. I think I would like a support group - problem is - I don't think I'd like it enough to give up my TIME! Ha! I have had a sick granddaughter ALL WEEK since my daughter has so much on her plate (full time job, nursing school and 2 girls) If my husband hadn't retired last year and could help out during the day, I don't know what we would have done. "all things work together for good". This viral thing she has had is a killer. Finally took her to Dr. yesterday after almost a week of hacking and throwing up. Not flu just strong virus. So between work, sick kids, feeding the homeless this week (been doing it for five years once a month) and small group, I'm TIRED!!!! LOL The "old gray mare" aint what she used to be!!!! (Well, there's not GRAY now, anyway!! LOL)

So amazing that you have lost almost 200 pounds in less than a year!!!!! Wear your helmet!!!! -
I love mexican food!! So far, I've handled the spicy stuff pretty well; although, I wasn't ever a REALLY HOT spice eater! Now, give me that NOLA Poboy and Beignets. Man, oh, man! Luckily, it's only 1/4 poboy now and one beignet!!!

I'm with you! I could not tolerate the full liquid diet and I was extremely lucky! I didn't have to do it prior to surgery and only a couple weeks after! Like others have said, though, prepare to be surprised. I couldnt tolerate eggs at all for MONTHS! A bite here and there of other things were okay, like refried Beans, but mostly, soups and creamy cheese was my saving grace. Good luck to you!
-
I agree with Gmanbat and others, I think you will be surprised at what you will eventually weigh! Probably less than 180 for sure. I agree with the premise that the younger you are the better off you are - skin wise. I was sleeved at 56, 60 now and lost 110 pounds. I'm 5'8" so I don't have a lot of "hangy" skin. what I DO have is a lot of wrinkles! HA! (age is a killer!) I found that over time, the body somewhat adjusts to weight loss and "realigns". In my case, I'm finding now that the skin that was just somewhat loose has become VERY loose now. Especially inner thighs and upper arms. Yikes!!! But, hey, these size 4 skirts and medium tops look very nice over this "mature" wrinkled skin!!!!! Good luck!

Here's an interesting article about this. I've done some research in the past about Protein needs for women. http://www.livestrong.com/article/441130-how-much-protein-is-too-much-for-a-female/ Female Protein RequirementsThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that females ages 14 to 70 years old consume 46 g of protein daily. This is a very general guideline; a more comprehensive way to determine your protein requirement is to eat 0.4 g of protein for every lb. of body weight. Divide your body weight in half and subtract 10. An average 140-lb. woman would need 60 g of protein daily. You can also calculate your protein needs as a percentage of your total calorie consumption -- eat 10 to 15 percent of your calories from protein. If you eat 1,800 calories daily, 180 to 270 calories should come from protein. Each gram of protein has 4 calories, so that amounts to 45 g and 68 g of protein daily. So, at 139-140 (my weight) 60 is what I need - pretty much what my Dr. recommends. The Dangers of a High-Protein DietMany popular low-carb diets recommend eating up to 35 percent of your calories from protein -- a much higher protein consumption than suggested by federal guidelines. The American Heart Association says that high-protein diets can be dangerous because of their high saturated fat content and limited dietary Fiber and Vitamin content. Consuming large amounts of high-fat animal Proteins increases your risks of high cholesterol and coronary artery disease. Diets low in fiber and essential nutrients, from a lack of grains, legumes and other plant foods, can lead to high blood pressure because of a lack of Calcium, potassium and magnesium. Perhaps the biggest concern with high-protein diets is the effect of protein digestion on your kidneys. Protein and Kidney DiseaseYour kidneys filter waste from your body and help to digest both fats and protein. People in good health can safely consume 20 to 25 percent of their calories from protein and not harm their kidneys. I think we just have to be vigilant about our overall health also. Too much protein and not enough of other things such as good fats, etc. need to be considered also. And yes, you are probably just in a good ole stall! I'm like you, I was lucky not to have any stalls during my original losing process. This too shall pass! LOL

why dont u just stay on the pre op diet?
Georgia replied to neev's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't you just "LOVE" those people who have never had to lose weight or their GOAL was to lose 5-10 pounds trying to tell you how to do it???? Seriously, I could have wrung a few necks before sleeve too! Now, sometimes I find MYSELF wanting to say, "Come on, just eat right!" Ha! How quickly we forget!!! 3 1/2 years and 110 pounds out, the view changes. I've been watching sometimes the "My 600 lb life" show and honestly, I want to just shake some of them. You truly have to WANT to change bad enough to CHANGE. And Kristin, yeah, go ahead and "deck" your friend! LOL -
I was not a diabetic, David, so I can't help you with this. Have you discussed it with your surgeon/their support team? I would do so before beginning the liquids if you haven't. As to losing the weight - you follow the guidelines and your WILL lose 100 pounds and probably more! Guys seem to lose more quickly too! I think you will do great and here's hoping diabetes is a thing of the past this time next year!!!!!! Congrats on your decision! Keep us posted.

How Do You Beat the Cold?
Georgia replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank God, I'm not in Atlanta and stuck on the road! Poor people! I've done it before trying to get home from work - took about 5 hours and usually takes 30 minutes. As for me, with the cold we've had this year - Luckily, I have a wood burning fireplace. It seems the heatpump can't keep up since I live at the top of a small mountain and it is windy coming off the lake we live across from. So, in the last couple of months we have already burned over HALF our wood supply! LOVE my fireplace! And yes, I'm a comfort food person - I don't "do" mac/cheese but Homemade veggie Soup, chili, chicken pot pie! Yummmmmm! Stay warm all!! -
Sheryl, I deleted a bunch of duplicate posts your phone sent for you! Mine does it too! It "hangs" and I think its not sending so I hit send again! And then it sends a duplicate!!!!
-
I thought the same. I know I saw some more too!
-
Trying to play catch-up since I was out all day without a phone yesterday. Coops, hope you're feeling better Sheryl, love the corset. Wanda go girl! Cathy, new low! Yaay! Hang in there Ms Skinniness and M2G and Swizzly! Make those fast days your slave! Sarsar, thinking of you! Chimera too! FYE, what's on the agenda next? You have the most amazing life of us I think! Finally pulled off a real great fast day yesterday hopefully more to come.
-
Well, I apologize for not earlier bit I had to leave my phone with sick granddaughter all day yesterday and just now catching up from wknd. Truly awesome!!! I KNEW that new profile showed you had lost regardless of how YOU see yourself. Isn't it weird how we view ourselves? I went off the grid and a carbs nonstop for four days. Immediately began to view myself as fat! Weighed the morning before my fast was still within 3 pound bounce and after a good fast day yesterday back down to low but boy my mind can do things to me! I'm very very proud of you! Circumstances haven't been kind to you but you've persevered and shown what a strong person you are. Hope you have a great day today!
