Dear Veterans, has your hunger returned?
Georgia replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am right there with you, Girlfriend! And BTW, I have always thought you are STUNNING!! Your size is perfect. I understand the "vanity" 10 pounds and did that myself. 5'8" 139-144 bounce. This time last week I was at 142 higher than week before 139 and now 144 the very TOP of bounce because as I said on another thread I want to EAT all the time. Like you, I've compared and can't see that protein versus others keeps me satisfied any longer. I do know that I still cannot eat a lot at one time if I eat dense protein but then I want something else a couple hours later and have been really giving in to my favs, PB crackers!!!!!! Gotta get hold of myself. LOL. -
Yep, I'm struggling some too. I have allowed carby items to really get to me. I think I, seriously, could eat all the time if I allowed myself to which I've pretty much done the last two weeks and I'm at the Top Of my bounce (four pounds) which could become 6, 8 quickly. Just can't seem to be able to drop the stuff like I did earlier. I do think it has to do, for me, with Winter, snuggling, comfort food, enjoying the cold (because I DO love Winter) and along with that a hint of depression right now over some family issues with kids. I will carry on but... Need to stay connected to stay honest and buoyed by others.

Glad to hear from everyone. Especially those who have been MIA. It's been hard for me to find time to respond to all like others have mentioned. I've been a slug concerning anything remotely concerning exercise and we've have ice/snow and that makes me Eat! Ha!! Lots of carbs been going into this body, I'll admit. And I can tell how I feel and everyday, like M2G, I'm NOT going to eat them . Fasting today. It's 2pm and only 50 cals so far. Hope everybody has a better rest of the week! Let's try HARD!

Sorry you are feeling so bad! Wish I was there to help you unpack!!!!! Hugs

A little off track but did y'all see the Police Choir at the Olympics sing "get lucky?" I have played it and played it in YouTube. The weirdness of that combination cracks me up!

Cheri, no words on the loss of your Father. NOTHING replaces a Dad. I lost mine 13 years ago and it feels like yesterday. My heart goes out to you. I always think of things like my grands never got to meet my wonderful, funny Daddy and I know you have thoughts for your children too. Life can be hard and seemingly just throw too much at us at one time. I know you have always been a voice of compassion and caring to others here and I want to remind you of it. Be kind to yourself too. You are a NORMAL weight; have a new healthy baby and a lovely husband and family. I'm praying answers are found for your recent health issues and that they resolve quickly. I know you have strong faith so I say to you, "This too shall pass!" Love you. Come talk to us on 5:2.
-
OD, did you get your purse? Sure hope so. Anybody know why Cheri stopped posting here? Sheryl, love the jewelry. I still think I would do pop of color in your earrings, though. Another day of snacking. I've gotten into the bad habit of fast and the really doing what they say you can on 5:2. . Which I never did! Yuck. Not to break this carb habit again!!!!

Me too!! WAAAY too tempting!

In a heartbeat!!! I just turned 60 Jan 2nd and my face gets more and more wrinkles and crevasses. LOL. Especially since live lost another 10 pounds. Seems like in the last few months it has gotten worse. My neck improved some with the extra weight loss for some reason but am , I would love to just do neck and bottom of face.

Whoo hoo!! Overweight!!!!!! I'm sorry if by duvet day you mean you weren't feeling well!!!

Quick, concise and covered all the bases! Good job, Kim! Nighty nite.

Sorry you are kinda "winging it"! I pretty much did also. My Dr required ONE nut visit and provided no support except appts although somebody in the hospital did come in and Invite me to a support group but it wasn't sleeve patients. We were too new to have one! Like FYE said, logging is vital to making it all work and if you have increased carbs that will slow your weight loss down. 5:2 can help jump start your weight loss IF followed correctly and what we found is that in order for it to work for us (WLS) we have to eat very clean on non fast days. http://www.52fastdiet.co.uk/index.php?sid=e4a0425a6bd15cca37ab7bbb545beb71 It's really quite simple. 2 semi fast days of 500 cals with a "fasting window" of at least 12 and better at 16-18 hours of fasting. Such as eat nothing after 7pm night before and then nothing (except water/coffee/tea) until around 11-12 next morning. I usually go to around 11 or noon and then have a light baby bel cheese or string cheese. You could have a boiled egg or scrambled egg. If hungry in afternoon another 50 cal cheese or an apple. I would have had approximately 100 cals leading up to dinner when I will have something like chicken stirfry ( a LOT of food for around 250 calories) or homemade veggie Soup with a salad or a lean cuisine that has no more than 25o cals. And then a snack before bed (early Around 7-8 pm). That would put me somewhere around 450-500 cals. I try to hold at 500 but some days 525-550. To lose weight in the other days no more than 1100-1200 calories with some good fats like avocado slices or 100 cal pack of guacamole and cut up veggies as "chips". Almonds (100 cal pack). I lost a regain of 27 pounds in about 4 months and in the months since another 10 pounds below my original goal of 150. And it builds discipline into my lifestyle of maintenance.

I managed to pull off a real fast day with 508 and it's 9pm. I'm REALLY hungry!!! Guess I'll go to bed so I won't stray!!!! Ha! Since the USA not starting out so great in Olympics. Shawn White fell. Our man figured skater fell. Smh!!!

Bless your hearts! Cancer is So prevalent and relentless these days. I know you have had some issues too with GERD, I believe. Take care of yourself also. My prayers will be with you. Please feel free to "talk it out" if you need a place. -
Okay, let's talk about 5:2 shall we? I can't say that I have had a real 5:2 week but wow my eating is going pretty good. I went back to some basics.. things that worked in the past. (Sheryl) I haven't been so good with 5:2 lately either. Too many carbs and today I was above my "bounce" for the first time in MANY weeks! Not good. Fasting today and gonna get back to basics as you spoke about, Sheryl. don't remember If I mentioned... Craig (my hubby) twisted his foot on the motorcycle while he was in Mexico... it took him 4 days to get out of the dirt road area and back to Sacramento. He limped around for two weeks, thinking the foot would get better (macho!) then finally went and got an Xray....BROKEN LEG! Crazy mofo! I married a Viking! So yesterday, I took him in to have it rebroken and set, with a metal plate screwing it together, and a cast. I have taken off 2 days from work to play nurse... he is on some heavy drugs... but seems like he is doing pretty well. I have been feeding him all kinds of crap with a few healthy things snuck in for good measure. I have managed to eat many of the same things, only less. Heaven help me! Its supposed to rain tonight... fingers crossed, we really need it and a bunch more or the water and food supply is in danger. Some towns may even run out of water this summer. I have been saving my bath water to flush the toilet and water the trees (Kim) Wow! Broken leg and waited TWO WEEKS! Only a man would do that! Ha! Well, glad he has you to "baby " him somewhat. And yes, I'm with you - I have eaten too many things I had stopped eating and feel it! The NO RAIN thing - I've been following it and as Florinda said, have seen some of the aerial shots comparing past with present and it is truly, truly scary!!! I am so upset I want to be able to learn to sleep with that thing but to me it sounds as lound as a vacuum cleaner., (Denise) I agree with the others! CPAP does NOT have to sound loud. If it does, it's usually because the mask is not adjusted or is slipping. My husband uses one now (I did for many years until WLS) and he is THIN! If his mask slips, it DRIVE ME INSANE!!!! HA! Maybe a different mask type? Coops, I cannot imagine the depth of what your son is feeling right now. To lose a mentor tragically like that is devastating! Suicide is a horrible thing. It always leaves so many questions for those loved ones who remain. And the desperation that drives someone to feel there is no other way is so, so sad. I was reading something on the Phillip Seymour Hoffman death this morning that really resonated with me. "Hoffman, a kind, decent, magnificent, thunderous actor," did not die from an "overdose of heroin" - he died FROM heroin. We should stop implying that if he'd just taken the proper amount then everything would have been fine." "He didn't die because he was partying too hard or because he was depressed - he died because he was an addict on a day of the week with a y in it... Let's add to that 10 people who were about to die who won't now." Aaron Sorkin on the death of Phillip Seymore Hoffman. Perhaps, Coops, somebody who was considering suicide now will be saved and get help through your son's mentor's death. I have to believe some good will come out of it all. Life, at best, is sometimes too difficult to understand. For all who are struggling today - I'm thinking of you! Whether it's food issues, marriage/relationship issues, depression, health, or children. I believe there is hope beyond what we can "see." Blessings to all today.

Got this article in my emails this morning and promptly read it through. Very enlightening and also, somewhat scary. Yep, I need to make sure, at age 60, that I continue to limit my carbs!!!!!! http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/819232?src=wnl_edit_specol&uac=208230EZ dementia.pdf
