  1. HeyGuys, the only thing I can add is that so early out from surgery your stomach and esophagus is still very swollen. Need to be extremely careful with dense protein. And the other thing is the longer you follow a strict routine the less likely you are to fall into habits later that will add pounds BACK on. Trust me! They DO come back. 2 years out yesterday and once you hit that timeframe you have to be very careful that your routine diet is a good one. Only long term approach is moderation with exercise. The weight FELL off me very quickly with little or no effort and within a fee months I was at goal. Then I got cocky and started snacking too much. Yep! Bam! 10 lbs right back like that. STILL have lots of restriction and if I follow the rules I will be good. (lost 4 lbs since). Best to you both! It is a great, great tool!

    Where are the 50s ???

Okay friends. Update. I bought a CRUISER (interpreted as old lady bike) and started riding 2-3 miles a day. No junk food. High protein low carbs. Proud to say 4 lbs down! Yippee! Gonna do this July 4th challenge goal! (10 lbs ). Yaayto us!
  3. Thanks, aoa. I really agree that we need each other for support. I am two years out yesterday. And for the first time in many months had a "slime" episode! But I ate the meat too quickly and knew what I did wrong This site has kept me focused or RE focused as I am at this point. We NEED each other. Sure we won't always agree but we can agree to disagree privately. On another note, the July4thChallengemotivated me to get going again. This surgery is not a cure all as we would like to believe but it sure is a great tool to get us to a healthier life. I would do it again tomorrow. No sleep apnea, no HBP, no meds and 100 lbs gone forever IF I choose to make it so with work! Thanks for the support!,,

    July 4Th Challenge

Yaay me! Lol Rode my bike 2 miles AFTER pushing it down the hill and then UP the hill. Folks, this ain't just ANY hill. Straight up ! My driveway is a long straight up drive to the top of a hill! It scares everyone who has to drive it the first time. All I could think of the whole time was " da da da da daa da. Da da da da daaa da...". Think Dorothy. Lol
  7. Mini me, me too! Not 120s. Never there but was at 148 (sleeve4me! ). I am 5'8" so that is fab for me. Bought me a new bike yesterday Gonna try it out. Low carbing again. I am in the July 4th challenge and my goal is 10 lbs. guess I better get up off the couch.

    July 4Th Challenge

I'm in! Lose 10 lbs by July THIRD! Lol. My date with my surgeon for 2 yr chkup!
  10. I agree with Nanna09. It is MUCH harder to lose any regained weight. I can way too easily eat junk and want to graze Also. I think it will be a struggle from here on out. I know I have to really get to some kind of exercise as a last resort to control the regain! But we can do this!! And will!!
  11. Yes mine did too! Dr. said "we would discuss it later" He was more worried at that point about my potassium which was so low that he wanted to hospitalize me to get it into me before I had a heart attack! Weird. That was about a year ago. Going to have blood work etc done this month so anxious to see how I fair now.
  12. Okay, Coops! Been right there with you! I am sooo tired all the time, I even think WHEN I am in bed sleeping that I feel exhausted! lol I am under a lot of stress right now with grandchildren/daughter living with us and I am having to take on a lot of added responsibility I didn't intend to have at 58! (thank god I am 100lbs lighter!) I feel the same way about the weight. I know, for me, it's just a matter of exercising and sticking to not snacking too much. But, truthfully, those sliders are still serving me as a "crutch". There, I've said it! Fatty, fatty, boo ba latty! ha! May be thin on the outside but I'm a BIG girl inside still! ha! And worry, worry, worry all the time about regain - WHILE i'm eating a cookie! Hang in there! This too shall pass! REALLY. I believe that - everything looks worse when you don't feel well. On that note - are you taking B12? Just another note - and don't get mad at me people - when you are going through menopause, etc and no hormone balance, many doctors are now prescribing a low dose anti-depressant. I had a full hysto in 2000. Did fine while I could have the hormone replacement therapy and then the scare about cancer/heart disease came out and they pulled the plug on that! Trust me - I would welcome that small threat versus hair loss (extreme and then VSG) no desire at all (nope), and depression!!!! I took a very small dose for a couple of years that really, really helped me. Just made me think, "Hmm, I can do this!" Off now but I would discuss with your Dr. if you don't feel better soon - physically and emotionally. We are all here for you!!! And that nurse - KICK HER IN THE SHINS NEXT TIME!!! How rude!

    Watermelon

Right after surgery ( a month or so) I was getting so light headed and dizzy that I asked my surgeon about snacking between meals with it and he said fine. I was very worried at first why I could eat so much of it and not other things! lol Watermelon gets a bad rap but it has great nutrients in it too! Love it!
  15. "We were surprised to find that currently thin women were viewed differently depending on their weight history," study leader Janet Latner, of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, said in a news release from the University of Manchester, in England. "Those who had been obese in the past were perceived as less attractive than those who had always been thin, despite having identical height and weight." You think??? Its true!

  16. Got my anniversary email from Alex today!!! 2 YEARS! Hard to believe on the 4th of June 2010 I started this amazing, wonderful journey! I'm blessed!

  17. I am not stuck on a stall but stuck in a rut! 2 yrs out and cannot get myself back to basics. I did low carb all last month. 2 up 2 down! So then I fell off the carb wagon big time! I tell myself every day I won't do it and the. I do. I have regained about 13 lbs and don't want to do that!! Got to do better. Help!

    Malabsorption Cramping?

This is just NOT true. Most sleeveeprs do not have vitamin deficiencies and can gain all nutrients needed through their diet. While it is advisable to take B, calcium and multi there ar snot malabsorption issues. There just aren't! Iam two years out. I experienced a period of very low potassium early on because of very rapid weight loss and not following strict enough to dietary needs but since then, no. Also took vitamin D by prescription but most of my friends have too from their Drs and they haven't had WLS. It's the new thing to look for concerning women and heart disease so Drs are much more aware of it. I didn't want to have bypass because of the malabsorption issues

    Trouble With Eggs Post-Op?

I agree with all the comments. Eggs just don't taste the same to me after VSG. I eat them most mornings scrambled w 2%cheese for low carb and more protein and can stomach them if just right (:)but some days just can't do it. But right after surgery Nooooooo! Made me hurl. Lol
