Will I Ever Enjoy Eating Again?
Georgia replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sheer "pleasure" we all enjoyed prior to surgery is forever gone I think; but then again, isn't that what got us into this mess? lol For me - two years out - food enjoyment is not there. that one good bite and you think boy, this is good, then the next couple are eck!! ha! -
You know, I loved a good salad prior to VSG, and couldn't tolerate any until a few months out but even now - only a few bites of salad does me in. Since I need to get the protein (meat) part of any meal in first eating the salad along with it just doesn't do it for me anymore. Kinda sad. But I've found a lot of things to be that case. Food pleasure anymore is just gone. And that is a GOOD THING! Except for the carbs I WANT to eat! lol

Well, here goes! Amazing, how FAST pounds come BACK on with only a few days deviated from plan. I've been basically doing low carb for a month or so. Been pretty stringent about it. Started the July 4th challenge - 9 lbs lost over 3 wks.- exercising more, etc. Last Thursday got sidetracked with LIFE - really did not OVER DO in any form but ate more carbs in small amounts. For example, I had a 4 cracker pack of Peanut Butter crackers yesterday. Half a hamburger (with one slice of bread removed). etc Well, guess what? (smile) In FOUR DAYS, all but 2 pounds back! I'm over two years out - reached goal - re gained about 10 lbs and stayed there but Wow! It is so frustrating to realize that if I vary AT ALL I will gain right back in a a few days what takes weeks to lose ! Not a happy camper but determined not to regain anymore and get back to REAL comfort zone. I'm happy with my size 8-10 clothes but I truly worry about regain over the coming months/years! Again, THIS IS A TOOL and a lifeline NOT A CURE ALL!

Kat, since you had the surgery outside of the US, is your insurance going to cover your expenses now? I'm worrying for you!!!! Lordy, lordy! Such a shame to go for your dream and have these kind of complications! You are in all of our thoughts and prayers for continued improvement and quick healing!

Beware Sliders! Lol. Very easy after maintenance to fall into slider carb foods! And once begun, like before, you just crave them more!! I speak from experience. Lol -

My Drain Is The Only Pain...anyone Else?
Georgia replied to angelakay2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i guess I was really lucky. My surgeon doesn't didn't use drains of any kind! I had absolutely no problems. I can sympathize, though!! That would be miserable! Good luck to all! -
Gross Incision :( :( :(
Georgia replied to missmachine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thought my big one was infected (same situation) and had pharmacist look at it when I was in store - they said to see Dr. Did - no big deal - not infected - NOT to put Neosporin on it for some reason. Just keep it clean and dry and NOT cover it. Took about another 10 days or so to improve but if it starts getting really hot and swollen GO!!!! -
I know SOME of you will find this funny. My One Year Bible reading this morning as I was driving to work - part of it was Prov 27:14 NLT (" A loud and cheerful greeting early in the morning will be taken as a curse!!" lol I KNEW that was Biblical and now I have scripture and verse! I have told and told my boss that I am NOT a morning person. Ha! But it DID make me laugh out loud at 7:45 am! Have a great day!

Oregondaisy, that is so true! I've recently gone back to low carb and upped my exercise (well, started since I wasn't doing much! lol) and trying to SLOWLY re-lose the 13 lbs I've regained after maintenance a year ago. So far, I've lost 6 of them but NOT easily. If I change from this for ANYTHING, my weight goes up. My body LIKES where it's at! I read that your body has to be at a certain weight for at least 6-12 months before it really stays there. I obviously didn't heed that warning a year ago. So now I'm paying the piper, so to speak! Once I get back to my goal weight and below hopefully, gonna do my dead level best to accomplish that weight stabilization. Also, just thought you would like to know - once I cut back on the carbs (slider foods, sweets, etc) my dumping has virtually disappeared. Wow! Girl, WE CAN DO THIS! -
Can you see me smiling? lol Weighed this morning -ALL the three pounds were gone and another pound!!!! Yaay!!!! So, for challenge 2 pounds to go to get my 10 off - gonna try for a few more!!!!! (since I have to go to Surgeon for 2 year checkup one week later! lol!) Have a great day, folks!
-
On a good note, though - EVERYONE in LA had a fit over my size! (smile) None of them had seen me since the dramatic weight loss. Many compliments which makes one feel REALLY REALLY good! Yaay, Sleeve!

Okay, BOY, is it sooo easy to up the lbs! Had to go "spur of the moment" to Louisiana for a funeral. Had a great ONE DAY and ONE NIGHT with old friends, catch up etc. Didn't really eat truly bad - had a few more carbs than I have been eating (low carb) and less than a half a piece of cake. One meal at a Mexican restaurant where I ate ONE puffed taco, no rice, no beans. Came home - next day up 3 lbs! Sad! So my hard-earned loss of earlier in the week - poof! lol I got right back on the horse and exercised by riding 3 miles on my bike last night and low carb today. It's just really amazing to me that now over two years out my body reacts so quickly to ANY change and I have to watch everything that goes in to keep from regaining. Something I didn't anticipate.
