My experience with Anthem BCBS
tnt21705 replied to finallygettingthere's topic in Insurance & Financing
My insurance covered it and I have Anthem BCBS of GA. They approved my case in 2 days. Their requirements were very easy. The dr's office said I have the easiest insurance to deal with. -

Sure! I got my band 8 days ago. I am a 38 yr old in Texas. -
Today I am day 7 and this day was not good. I feel so full I feel like I have alot more gas all of a sudden. I take two sips and cant take anymore. Made a call into the nurse and they want to do an X-Ray first thing in the A.M. They say I am way to tight and need to see why. I have no fluid in my band. Something has irritated my stomach. Man I hope all is okay. If they have to go back in and cut me I will be pissed. I don't want to deal with the gas. Has anyone every had this happen to them.

not a good day back to work
tnt21705 replied to tnt21705's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel much better today. I went in today at 7 am and they did an x-ray. All is good and I am not too tight. Something must have just bothered my stomach. I think I am taking in too much air. It's all trial and error right now. I just need to get adjusted to the changes. -
Yes I am greiving for food too and I am only 7 days out. I just want to chew something...lol...

I talked about the band all the time before I got it. Then once it was actually a reality that I would get it I didn't tell anyone but my husband, daughter, parents, and two co-workers about it. None of my friends know. I just don't want any judgements or alot of questions about it. And then what if it doesn't work! That would be terrible and alot of people knew that I had gotten it. It's weird how I totally shut down about it when it became a reality that I was getting it.

When the nurse called me last week she said that I had nothing in my band. The nurse on the phone today said they could take out something even if it was just air to take out. I felt fine until last night. Something has irriated my stomach. The nurse said it could be stress or a number of things. She even told me a woman on her cycle can get a tight band. weird! I am sipping on gatorade and warm chicken broth as much as is comfortable. -
My post op says liquids for 7 days and then thicker liquids for 7 days and then mushies for 7 days and then normal food. I see so many other instrux from peoples doctors. I am kinda panicking because I ate a thicker liquid today - day 6 - and hoping that didn't hurt my band. Stomach feels really full like maybe I ate to fast or something. Maybe I am just freaking my self out a bit. I totally misread my instrux. I think maybe it's gas.

3 days post op is this normal??
tnt21705 replied to pamela3782's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
try hot tea and gas x. Your band can get really tight when you get dehydrated. -
I was banded on the 11th and yesterday was the first day that I was able to get a whole shake 8 oz shake down. You'll get there.
-
I drink the dannon dacactive yogurt drinks that are about 35 calories and only 3 oz. That can tide me over pretty good and they are a very thin liquid. V-8 juice works too and the V-8 fruit juices. I am 6 days and I miss chewing right now.

When did you start to feel better?
tnt21705 replied to Rachel412's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Monday and thought I was dying the first two day. The 3rd it got better and has gotten better everyday since. I took the RX painkiller for 4 days. My nurse told me gas X strips and hot liquids will help with the gas. Try hot tea or hot broth. It does help with the gas. I still am having gas pains but it is getting better. I hope you feel better soon. -
I was banded on the 11th and I have had terrible gas pains from the minute I woke up. It has gotten better everyday. It is in my shoulders and back too. My stomach rumbles alot. I am having a hard time with thinking "am I hungry or is that gas?" The pain will shot right up my breast bone. My stomach feels real tight but is getting better. I am so glad I took a week off of work. I thought that the lapband was worse then a c-section just because of the gas pain alone. I will be so glad when I get to mushy foods. I am so tired of protein shakes and broth.

I was banded today and I am in the worst pain of my life and I have had a c-section. The gas pain is so bad and now the incisions are throbbing. The liquid pain meds are not making a dent. I am in so much pain I can't slept or get comfortable. I am starting to think what have I done to myself. I have to go back to work in a week. I hope that I am better soon.

Today begins my 7 day Liquid Diet - Pre Surgery
tnt21705 replied to Kymba's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like that. I also eat a hard boiled egg too. My doctor is not that picky about the liquids. I can do Protein shakes. The shakes make me wanna gag and they only keep me full for about hours plus they make my stomach updet. I think your headache might be from the sugar and carbo withdrawal. I get headaches too. If you like shrimp or fish make some of that and keep in the fridge. Shrimp cocktail makes a good snack to take the edge off and is packed with protein. I wonder if the Protein Shakes bother anyone else's tummy? -
