  1. Hi Lisa B, I am scheduled to be banded on 7/21 and I'm excited. I started this process over 6 months ago and really didn't feel that confident that my insurance would over the procedure because I too have a BMI of 34. Thankfully they authorized it with no questions so I am counting down the days. My history is very similar to yours in that I have tried numerous diets and lost the weight, but gained it all back. (How frustrating is that?) I am over 40 with three children and finally realized that I needed to take control of my weight and lap band is just the tool to help me along. Good luck to you.

To tell or not to tell?

I can relate totally to how what you're experiencing. I found out last week that I have been approved for banding and my surgery is scheduled for 7/21. I've only told my mother who is very supportive, although I initially thought she wouldn't be. My co-workers and a few friends have negative opinions regarding weight-loss surgery so I am not going to let them know. I have explained my beginnning the liquid diet on my desire to lose weight. I've waited too long for this and will not let the opinions of others ruin it for me. Good luck!!
  3. Saw my surgeon last week and was told that I will probably be banded by the end of April. So excited!! Hope the decision from the insurance company does not burst my bubble. Staying prayerful and keeping my fingers crossed.
  4. Hi Toni. Like you I am also worried that i will be denied by my insurance company. As of last week I have completed all the required PCP visits, testing and attendance at support groups. Now the waiting begins. My bariatric surgeon seems confident that it will be approved and said if it's not we will appeal. I'm hoping the first time is a go. I need this surgery for so many reasons. Good luck to you.
