Yesterday morning, I had a concern about possible infection of one of my incisions (which the doc said was fine). While in the surgery dept I see my cleaning lady who was there with her father So she sees me this morning, and she asks "Samantha is everything ok, because I saw you over there yesterday" So I respond yes. Then she continues "you look like your losing weight. Did you do that surgery" And I responded yes. Ughhh I'm not hiding it, but I didnt expect anyone to come right out and ask me, especially not so soon. I have only been back to work since Monday.

that night and the following morning, I had some dry heaving and spitting up, nothing was in my stomach. The next day I started liquids and the nausea subsided for the most part. -
My First Interrogation

Thanks Kelly! There was pus coming from it. I was sure it was infected. But he said it was folliculitis along the incision line which is common and not to worry. -

That's true...she proceeded to tell me how her niece wants to do the surgery because she has struggled with her weight her whole life. I just dread her spreading my business all over...but oh well the cat is out the bag -
My First Interrogation

Diva Dee, cheer up. Just make sure ur happy with your decision, and that you're doing it for u. I chickened out in the past, years ago, and this time I was sure, prepared, and ready, NO ONE could stop me. When I told my mom in October, she CRIED. She tried for months to change my mind. My family wasnt really in favor of the surgery, but in the end I couldn't do it without them. My family was a huge support system. My friends too. My mom has come around, and is very involved in the process and wanting to know more about what I am eating, how I am feeling. When ppl see that you're sure and educated about your decision and when you start losing weight they will be happy for you and if not screw em, you'll be happy -

Everyone seems to weigh so often.
samantha209 replied to Griselda's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I work in a hospital so there are scales everywhere, in the bathroom, and in fact in my office. Oddly enough I dont have one at home...i figure I dont need one, and I can take the weekends off from weighing in -

honestly I think I want to focus on weight/strength training. Me personally I am concerned about the saggy skin...building muscle will help u burn fat, and eating the smaller portions will help u lose weight anyway. But like Kimmes said, i think it depends on what your ultimate goal is.

I ate a lot today!
samantha209 replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg I feel the same way and it worries me. I can eat 4ozs each sitting with no problem. Reading all these stories about people throwing up, and only eating two tablespoons makes me wonder if I am overeating. But i am barely eating over 700 calories a day...so I will try not to worry about it. -
my prayers are definitely with you. Be strong, and God works miracles

6 teaspoons to every ounce - wow

i totally get you. I just figure since I am in purees, I try to rely on volume...once I hit solids, then I will rely on weight... -

the scale I have is from my weight watchers days. Its a food scale which has a removable measuring cup as well. -

samantha209 replied to Carmy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how to use a scale. I just wanted to verify that it isnt over 4 ozs either way in my understanding your stomach is 4 ozs in volume no??? The only reason I weighed it is because I didnt want to puree more than necessary. -
You're gonna look horrible for a while...
samantha209 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so yesterday I visited a friend. And she has always lacked a filter...sorta just says whatever comes to mind so she was like wow you're gonna look great....horrible for a little while, but eventually you'll be svelte and looking hot. so she goes on to say how her neighbor had WLS and he look horrible initially until he plateaued and then regained a little to normalize. So i retorted i'll never look horrible *flips hair* but It annoyed me. Because I know there will be naysayers and haters who will be whispering that i look horrible or lost too much weight etc. *sighs* -
Tomorrow is my first day back after surgery...my 3 weeks flew by I am actually ready to go back. I miss the camaraderie at work...and was starting to get a little cabin fever. I have my Breakfast and lunch portioned out, and my bottles of Water....kinda concerned about my eating regimen at work but I am sure it'll be fine. Thanks for keeping me company during the days.

samantha209 replied to Carmy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this is hilarious because my doc told me I should be able to eat 4oz of food...which for the most part I can. i am also on mushies which i am sure factors into it, but I can finish 4 oz with no problem....and was wondering if I should be eating 4 ozs weight wise or volume wise and whether they were one in the same. One day last week I weighed a piece of salmon my mom cooked...because it was solid, and then I pureed it and put it in the 4 oz container and it fit.. All I know is I am eating WAYYYYYYY less that I have ever eaten and I hope this works -
