Of course I forgot something. LOL. I can't eat any starchy veggies: potatoes, corn, beans, peas or yams. No yogurt, only low carb milk, and absolutely no fruit. Which is the part that's killing me the most :001_tt1:

Oh. Sorry about that. My criteria is to not eat carbs or sugars. I can have salad dressings as long as they have less than 3g of carbs. I've been told I can eat any type of meat and seafood: chicken, pork, beef, lamb, etc.

Definitely! I have yet to explore everything on this site, so I don't even know how to add friends or anything. I just happened to notice that I had a notification, so I apologize for the delayed response. It's funny though because I just read something you wrote and thought "hey! we have the same date!" How's it going with the pre-op diet?

I'm finally excited about this! I just got a call form my surgeon's office that I am scheduled to be sleeved on 9/27. I've been struggling not to tell people close to me until I was for sure locked into this. I can't WAIT to change my life. I'm also really surprised about how quick this was. It might be because I am self-pay, but I started this process on 8/23 (met with my PCP, got an EKG), about a week later I had my upper GI and blood work done, met with the surgeon yesterday, and in 17 days I'll be having surgery

Liquid Diets Unite!
Fleur de lis replied to settebee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't yet been sleeved (9/27/10) but from talking with the program coordinator and his wife who work at the center, and have both been sleeved, they really like the Premium Advantage protein shakes. I also haven't tried them, but I'll be heading over to Sam's Club tomorrow to check it out. Also, for the powder protein shakes that you have to make yourself, they suggest a low carb milk. It's made by Hood and it's called Calorie Countdown. -
I know I know....it wasn't the healthiest...

Whataburger is also a Florida thing. LOL. Well, it was, at least. The ones I've seen have closed down, but I don't know if it's statewide or just Orlando. -

Thank you -
Has anyone had a child since their surgery? How has getting back in shape worked out for you? According to my doctor, I shouldn't get pregnant 12-18 months after surgery, which is fine because I didn't plan on doing that anyway. I am worried about it for later on though.

Hi Wedding Planner, I just realized I didn't really answer your question. The surgery is being done at St. Luke's Hospital. It was between there and Memorial Hospital, but Memorial charges more for some reason.

"Emotional eating"
Fleur de lis replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's funny that this is the first post I saw because I got on to ask about overeating after the sleeve. I just got finished eating dinner and didn't stop until I felt like I was going to explode; my usual habit. As I'm sitting back trying to stop the ache, I'm wondering if this is something that I will be able to control after surgery? One of my big fears is that I will not really know when to stop. Even with a full sized stomach, it's sometimes hard to gauge when I'm satisfied, as opposed to being full to capacity. Has anyone else experienced this? How have you worked it out? -
I'm going to North Florida Surgeons with Dr. Steve Webb. An old roommate/friend of mine referred me to him.

My psych eval was pretty short. My surgery will be happening in Jacksonville and because I live in Orlando, they were kind enough to do it over the phone for me. I was asked questions about my eating habits, living situation, the eating habits of those that I live with, things like that. Nothing too scary. I'm guessing I passed. LOL

September sleevers wanted!
Fleur de lis replied to determined1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey all! I haven't been scheduled yet but I'm hoping for sometime in Sept (maybe by the end). I have my surgeon's appointment on 9/9. I'll be checking in later! -
Poll: To tell or not to tell co-workers
Fleur de lis replied to Texanatheart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I may have to use that one for my father. He doesn't know because about 3 years ago, my mother was going to finance this for me. Once he found out, he managed to convince her that all sorts of horrible things would happen to me as a result of the surgery, mainly death, and she pulled out and took her money back. This time, she is financing again, but we have not included my father on this decision. What makes it harder is that I'm having the surgery in Jacksonville (where my parents live) but I live in Orlando. So I'll be staying at their house while I recover. I don't want to tell an out and out lie, but it's hard to sneak around and "not say" why I've REALLY been coming to visit so often. Sigh. It's hard being sneaky. -
Poll: To tell or not to tell co-workers
Fleur de lis replied to Texanatheart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have told very few people that I'm in the process to get WLS. My mother knows, my boyfriend, and one friend. That's it. And I'm even kicking myself for telling one friend. I'm hesitant to tell others, as well. Mainly because I have family members that are not supportive. As far as friends go, I just don't know if I feel like explaining things to them. As we all know, most people will not understand this decision unless they've been in our position. I'm still debating on whether or not to tell them post-op but I feel like I might have to. They'll probably notice that I'm eating a few tablespoons of food, not drinking, and not stuffing my face full of ice cream. I don't work right now so the next time I have co-workers, they won't even know that I was once much larger. -
Hi everyone. I'm new to this journey, although this is my 3rd attempt at getting the surgery. I have so many questions that I don't even know where to start. This biggest one is deciding between the sleeve and the band. I'm so afraid that I won't be able to control my eating without the band but I've also read a lot of the revision forums and I don't want to be regretting the decision to get the band. Also, I'm reluctant to even get excited about getting WLS because the last time I went through this, a family member was going to pay out of pocket for it. However, the day before my first doctor's appointment, she decided the withdraw her offer (and her money). I don't know if I could handle going through that type of emotional pain again. Has anyone used Dr. Webb in Jacksonville, FL?

Thanks everyone for you replies! Since my post, I have had my upper GI done, blood work, paid my deposit, and I have my first appointment with my surgeon next Thursday. Looks like things are starting to move along. As happy as I am that things are moving forward, I'm STILL hesitant to get excited. My mother thinks I'm crazy, but when you were burned like I was the last 2 TIMES, I tend to be a little more cautious. I told her I'll be excited on surgery day. LOL
