I understand what you're going through. My boyfriend is supportive, but many members of my family are not. Especially my dad. He always tried to force me to loose weight with the same tactics he used when he was a Marine. Clearly, that didn't work, and now he's been kept out of the loop. He has no clue I'm having surgery next week....this should go well, considering I'm recovering at his house. Definitely lean on us. I know I am :thumbup1: Hopefully your wife will start to see the changes in you and she'll come around.

September sleevers wanted!
Fleur de lis replied to determined1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did. My pre-op diet is high Protein, low carb, no sugar and no starchy veggies. But the other night at dinner, my boyfriend ordered the Caramel Gold Rush (we were at Longhorn) and I definitely had 6 bites or so of that. After, I felt like an ass and I keep worrying that my slip-up is gonna put the breaks on this operation. I still have 7 days left, so I'm just going to try REALLY REALLY hard not to do it again. -
Thank sound A-MA-ZING!!! I'll probably make it tomorrow. Thanks!

Well, I wrote this on another thread, but that's what I get for not looking around first. So here goes: I'm on day 5 of my 14 day pre-op diet (I'm getting sleeved on 9/27). Some days I'm okay but others I feel like all I do all day is eat. I've been sticking to no carbs and no sugar. Well, except for when I had some honey mustard with chicken tenders the other day. The sugar in it made my whole body feel like it was alive. LOL. Anyhow, I'm wondering how others are coping. Are there any recipes you can share because I am going to strangle myself if I eat chicken and green Beans one more time, and I still have 9 days to go.

I Feel Like I'm Starving
Fleur de lis replied to Fleur de lis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I think I probably do just need to switch up the meats I'm eating. The other day I made shrimp and felt like I was in heaven. LOL. There are so many times that I want to use lemon, but I can't have lemon juice. Something about the acidity and healing. I cheated last night and I felt like such an ass. I was doing good all dinner (steak and veggies) until my boyfriend ordered dessert. I definitely had 5 or 6 spoonfuls of the most delicious apple pie a la mode EVER! But afterward I was like, uhhh....hope I didn't just eff this up. I guess we'll see on the 27th. Good luck to you! -
Thanks for the advice! I'm starting my last week so I'm definitely going to try some of these tips.

Have 100+ lbs to loose?
Fleur de lis replied to texashopeful's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My goal is to lose 180 lbs, but i could probably lose 160-150 and be happy. I'm scheduled for 9/27 with Dr. Webb in Jacksonville, FL. I CAN'T WAIT!! -
I asked my doctor several times if I need to stop taking my BC and he said that it would be fine. I could even take it on the day of surgery and only take a little sip of water, if necessary. My period is supposed to start 4 days after surgery, but I was thinking of not taking the sugar pills and just starting a new pack right away. I've done it before and never had problems, but I also wasn't on medication for surgery. Sigh. Guess that's another question I'll have to ask him.

I don't personally have experience with it, but a friend of mine has. She said it doesn't feel like anything and there's no pain. She had a Brazilian laser done.

now there's a side-effect I didn't expect!!
Fleur de lis replied to Globetrotter's topic in The Gals' Room
Good information! My poor boyfriend hardly gets any now. It reminds me of Blue Collar Comedy when Bill Engval compares sex to getting a chess set (or something like that) in the mail. "You get one piece every 6-8 weeks...." HAHAHA. So I'm sure he will appreciate this :scared0: -
I know what you mean Susieq. I haven't had VSG yet, but I've had operations in the past and yeah, I think that smell comes from anesthesia. I drank tons of water, but I don't know if that did the trick or if it finally just worked it's way out of my system. It should go away after a while.

This is something I hadn't even thought of! Now I have to figure out when to ask my doctor because I'm sure my mother will not want to hear this.
-
That's true. But I cheated today :scared0: I'm so disappointed and hopefully didn't just screw myself.

Liquid Diets Unite!
Fleur de lis replied to settebee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my last response, I said that I was going to get the Premium Advantage shakes. Here are my comments: they only come in chocolate, which for me is a bummer. i hate them it's not that they taste funny. but they leave me with a weird aftertaste that lasts all day. it also makes me feel "not satisfied" the rest of the day. one day I didn't drink one at all and managed to survive on 3 meals a day. the next day I had one for Breakfast and felt all day the urge to eat. I tried it two more days with the same results. -
(some pics)proof you have to lift weights!
Fleur de lis replied to ryansgirl's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Thank you SO MUCH for this. It's been my biggest worry about after surgery and I can't even think of being able to afford another surgery. This lets me know here's hope. And I actually like lifting weights and going to the gym, so hopefully things will go smoothly for me as well. You look great! -
I understand exactly how you feel. Although I haven't had the surgery yet (I will on 9/27) so I can't really provide a solution of working through these issues, but it's nice to know we're not alone. When I began this process, I told me mother over and over how I'm afraid I will fail at this and put the weight back on. I haven't been skinny since the 3rd grade so I have no clue what it's going to be like. I, too, haven't told my father. A few years ago, my mother took out a loan to pay for gastric bypass but my father convinced her that all these horrible things would happen a the result of the surgery, so she backed down and took her money away. This time, he is being left out the loop completely. I probably wouldn't ever tell him, but I'm getting the procedure done in Jacksonville, where they live. So when I leave on Monday morning to go to the hospital and he wakes up to my car being at his house but I'm not there, he's going to start freaking out and calling me. At this point we've decided to call him once I go into surgery. Good luck to you!
