  1. I am finally home from my surgery on the 25th. I had to stay two days in the hospital due to the swelling. I couldn't keep anything down. That has changed now, but I am struggling to get the full 40g of protein. I am sure it will begin getting easier, but I am still struggling. I am so excited to join you all on the losers bench. Ready to get started!

    Yeah, ouch! first day post-op

Are you trying to scare me for my surgery on Tuesday? I hope everything went well. I have been thinking about you for a couple of days. I don't know what you are going through yet, but I know that you are a strong woman, and you can handle anything! Keep me posted on your progress.

    comfort zone

I have to give myself a pad on the back today. My surgery is set for May 25, and I am on my pre-opt diet. I was invited to go to a 5K run/walk last night. So this morning, I actually got up at 6 am, dressed, drank my shake, and hopped in my neighbors car. I walked the whole thing (no running at this size) with a time of 54 minutes. I actually did it. I didn't give up, I didn't stop. It was hard, and my neighbor was with me the whole way. The feeling at the finish was so exciting, because I finally did something that was outside of my comfort zone. I have never done a 5K before, even when I was younger and in shape. My husband didn't believe me this morning when I left, and told me he was so proud of me this afternoon. If this is a glimpse of what my life will be after surgery, then Let's Get This Party Started! Yeah Me!

    Having second thoughts

I am scheduled for the 25th, and I too am scared to death and nervous as Hell! After I met with the dietitian, it became very "real". However, the alternative is not appealing. I have a neighbor that had it done 3 years ago, and she has NEVER regretted her decision. I see her and I want that feeling. I am a much happier person when I don't feel ashamed or feel the need to hide. I am just trying to stay positive on pre-opt diet to be sure I do everything the Dr. instructed. Each person has their reasons and concerns, and each one is valid. As for how this is different to the lap band, I can't speak from experience. However, I can tell you what made me shy away from the experience. It is now permanent. I did not want something that I would constantly have to go to the doctor for fills and that could be removed one day. I know I need something that would last forever. I am tired of yo-yo dieting, and I can't wait til I get through the recovery period. I wish you all the best in your search for the answer and we are all here to support you with whatever decision you have made.

    Carbonated Drink question

It's the ice! I swear! So now I go to Sonic (everyday, yes they know me by name) but instead of my DP, I get ice Water w/Lime or unsweet tea w/Lime. Right now it's all water. Dr. says no caffeine until after the surgery, so my headache is now gone, and I am actually feeling pretty good. Funny thing though, at the dietician on Tuesday I had already lost 5 pounds in just two weeks. I swear I have been eat a ton of "last meals", but I think it is a great sign of the future!
  11. Okay, I admit it... I am addicted to Dr. Pepper. I am trying to ween myself off of them before I start my pre-opt diet on Tuesday, but I am having trouble. I have a very stressful career that I love, but D.P. is my release. (I am a financial planner & wealth mgr. and the market is down A LOT! :cursing:) So, I am trying to substitute it with Crystal light and tea which seems to be working. :wink0: However, I fell off the wagon this morning. So, what I want to know is what exactly happens when you have a carbonated drink after the sleeve. I am hoping the visualization gives me the motivation to STOP COLD TURKEY! :001_tongue: HELP!

    Carbonated Drink question

My caffeine withdrawal headache is beginning to subside, and I can't tell you how weird it is to try to start a new habit. It must be working, b/c I went to the dietician yesterday for my pre-opt education and have already lost 5 pounds. What a way to start the process! I have 13 days until my surgery, and a new life awaits me on the other side!

    Howdy everyone!

Hi Lori! I also live in your area and I am using Dr. Nick. He is great and you will really like him. My surgery is set for May 25th. If you are in he area Wednesday night, you need to go to the support group around 6. You will find a great atmosphere of many in your same shoes or were there at one time. Let me know if you need any info.

    The Last Day!

My last meal was last night, and it included Mexican food, too! So far so good on my pre-opt diet; however it is just day 1. I met w/ the dietician today, and very overwhelmed by the info given. I guess the most important thing I gained was Protein, Protein, and Protein. Am I missing anything?

    Carbonated Drink question

Hi everyone! I am going strong w/ no more carbonated drinks, especially DP. I start my pre-opt diet tomorrow, and thought I would start my decaf trip late Saturday. So, my question is when does the caffeine withdrawal headache go away??? I have had it for two days!

    Carbonated Drink question

Thanks everyone for the information. I have been w/o for 3 days, and going strong. I really think the craving is in my head. I feel horrible after drinking one, but I still drink them. This is the motivation that I need.

    Carbonated Drink question

I will admit it right now, after the way the stock market gave me a mild heart attack, I will have one on my way home. I will not have another one after that, I promise. I will report back to let you know my progress so I can be accountable. Thanks for your help...
  18. My surgery is scheduled for May 25th, and it can't get here fast enough.
  19. I start my pre-opt diet on Tuesday. So, I have decided to take my family to a Hibachi bar on Sunday for Mother's day for a last hoorah. I am so ready to start though. I got my blood work done this morning and meet with a dietician on Tuesday next week. Keep me posted on your progress...

Anyone know Dr. Nick's Pre-Op Diet Regimen?

Glad to see so many Dr. Nick patients on here! Lots of resources for me... Good luck everyone... I start my pre opt diet on the 11th...

dr. Nick Nicholson in Texas anyone?

I went last month, and it was great... very informative, and very supportive. Many there have already had one type of surgery, and they are extremely helpful to those who have not. I will need a confidence booster on the 12th since I start my pre opt diet on the 11th! I am so excited, I can hardly wait!

dr. Nick Nicholson in Texas anyone?

I am scheduled on May 25th w/ Dr. Nick. I am also local... My primary physician actually used him and highly recommended him and his staff. I am so excited that their are so many others in the area that I can relate to. Anyone attending the monthly support group at Baylor?
  25. I have a date set for May 25th. I am self pay, so not too many questions or discussions.
