    I just want to cry

Have you talked to your doctor? I was feeling queasy all the time and was given and anti-nausea medicine which really helped. Could it be acid? Are you taking an anti-acid of some kind? This is a huge change and it is made harder when you don't feel well. Now that my acid and nausea is under control and I am feeling much better. Don't suffer!

    3 Week Stall

I was in a stall for 7 days (from 2.5-3.5 weeks post surgery). Finally today I dropped a pound so hopefully things will stat happening again. If I didn't know it was normal I would have been upset. It is, what it is. Just hang on. It will pass.
  3. I know it is a bummer Lisa (same thing happened to me!), but you'll make it! Think of it as one last holiday season with yummy treats!

    Slleeve since Sept 27, 2010

I was told not to take Tums-can't recall why, but I thought they weren't good for you. I took chewable Maalox and and now on Prilosec twice a day and doing good, but I had big issues in the beginning. Maybe you need a different ant-acid? Talk to your doc about it. You do have to drink slowly or it will come up and that is normal. Sip, sip, sip. I am a week ahead of you and still pretty much on the same diet you are so I wouldn't be too concerned. BTW, V8 Splash is probably not that good for you if you are having acid issues. It is probably making it worse.

    recovery time off work?

I think it really just depends and you might not know until after. I totally thought I would be good after a week because I generally heal pretty fast and I'd had two c-sections so I thought I have a good sense for how i would feel. What a joke. NO WAY was I ready after a week!! I am over 3 weeks now and totally exhausted, but definitely getting better each day. I am going back to work on Monday and it will be 3 weeks, 5 days. The first week back I am going back 1/2 time.

    Pure Exhaustion

It seems to be more common than not. I know right now I am having trouble getting off the couch. I spoke to two friends who had GB a few years ago and they both said the same thing. It took about 4-6 weeks before they stopping feeling like they were going to just fall over. I am waiting patiently since this has been horrible.

    Having Trouble Eating

I had surgery 9/22 and I am eating the EXACT same things as you. The only thing I had added is refried Beans. Just give yourself an extra week. I am having a hard time and am not inclined to push it. vomiting is not good for you so just take it slow.

Finally Post Op and in pain

I'm feel for you. I woke up in a lot of pain too and I agree-my c-section had NOTHING on this. The good news is it doesn't last long. The first two days were bad, but then it got better each day. Hang in there!
  9. Monday check in sounds good. I just ate 2 saltines with beef stew broth an potatoes-tasted like a gourmet meal lol

    September sleevers wanted!

What you you all think of starting our own thread on the general discussion board?
  11. 1-4-Ignorance is not bliss. You need to know what you are getting into. Let me try to address your questions. Keep in mind, there is no one size fits all. Everyone is different. Is this nausea the same as having a stomach flu? Or is it different? The dietitian told me it was different. You feel bad, you are queezy but when you actually vomit it's not as violent as a flu or food poisoning situation. Would you agree or disagree with that statement? It is more like motion sickness to me. I never vomited from it (there was nothing in my stomoach), but I have had dry heaves. Secondly, was it pretty much non stop? Or did it come and go in waves? Waves. I have fold it stimulated by drinking something cold. Room temp keeps it at bay. Thirdly, and most importantly, were you taking the anti nausea meds? If so, were they helping none? Not since I left the hospital. I would categorize it as bad enough to require medication Just plan on being in some level of discomfort for a week. I am two weeks out and have absolutely no pain and nausea only when I drink too fast and it is cold-so I try not to do that Actually what has had the most impact on me is the extreme fatigue I feel. That I just wasn't prepared for.

    Just got home

I still get woozy when I drink something too cold and Popsicles fall in there. Don't even worry about eating right now. I don't think I touched anything remotely solid until I had been home three days. The pain lasts about a week, but gets better each day. I am two weeks out and no pain at all.
  13. For those who have had surgery...what wer you told about resuming regular exercise? I have looked in my notebook and reviewed handouts from previous classes and it is all very vague. When cold you do cardio (treadmill/elliptical) and low weight training? Thanks!

    September sleevers wanted!

Today is two weeks since my sleeve. It's been a rough two weeks, but down 17 pounds :Dancing_wub:

    Had a scrambled egg!!!!

Well, you inspired me to try a scrambled egg and it was NOT pretty. I only ate about 1/3 of the egg and I ate it very slowly. At first I thought all was well, but about a 1/2 hour later I started puking it up and continued on and off for about an hour. Won't be trying that again for a while
  16. Pamela...I know EXACT how you feel. I too did not expect the recovery to be so difficult. You just don't read too much about that on these boards. Everyone says how great they feel and so I assumed I would as well-big mistake. I am like you. The paid was horrific on the day of surgery and 2-3 days after. Since then, it is the extreme weakness that has gotten me down. I can barely pull myself off the couch. I know I am not getting enough water and protein, which I am sure is contributing to the problem, but I can't get it down. I don't know how people do it. I sip, sip, sip and barely get in about 30 oz of water a day. I am now 1 day shy of two weeks out and while there is absolutely no pain, I am as exhausted and lethargic as ever. I can't wait to feel better.
  17. They wanted todo the "new technique" on me too. It sounds interesting, but they way he said he wanted to "try it on me" put me off. Glad it worked out well.

    September sleevers wanted!

Is anyone else hungry? I woke up this morning absolutely STARVING! This is the first time I have felt real hunger since surgery and I am just wondering if I am alone. I know sometime stomach acid is mistaken for hunger, but I have had so many issues with acid that I definitely know the difference. I am making a pured soup and I'll see how I feel after that, but I was curious.
  20. Hi Shannon...I am doing pretty well. My big struggle has been with stomach acid, but I got my meds changed and today was the first day it felt somewhat "normal." My only other issue has been with one of the incisions. I don't know what I did, but I pulled it a bit and hurts like a SOB every time I move-very annoying. I have tried to take it really easy today and will do the same tomorrow. I go for my 2 week check up on Tuesday so we'll see what the doc says :scared0:

    September sleevers wanted!

Nexxie...You are still really swollen. It is very normal for weight to be up after surgery. Don't even step on the scale. There is no point right. Just keep to the liquids and take it really slow. Sip, sip, sip.
  22. Welcome Lisa Marie...I am just up the road in Santa Rosa :wink0: For protein drink I like the 100% Whey Protein. There is no "protein" taste Bodybuilding.com - Optimum 100% Whey Protein - With Faster-Acting HYDROWHEY! On sale now!

How many days in hospital for vsg?

I spent one night, but wish it was two. You will DEFINITELY need someone to take the lead with the kids for a couple of days so plan for that.
  24. Maybe you should email your doctor and let him know what is going on. No point in continuing with a plan that doesn't work. Maybe you can consult with a nutritionalist and get something for effective for you.
