Since my surgery on June 20, 2011 I have lost 150 pounds -- my endocrinologist bitched at me for loosing so fast - lol anyway I am having low blood pressure as a result its 98/60 which isn't in the danger level yet but I still get dizzy when I stand up. Has anyone else had this problem? -
How To Prevent Hair Loss After Gastric Sleeve Surgery
notsochubbybritneyspears posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi guys, its been awhile since I posted. I am 85 pounds down - surgery date was June 30, 2011. I didn't have hair loss issues and I attribute it to these things: I took 10,000 mcg of Biotin every day. I used Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner. I also used this product called Kitoko Oil - Protein. If you have any questions let me know........... -
You can Get Dumping Syndrome from the Sleeve
notsochubbybritneyspears posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I am out of the mushies, I went to ihop with a friend -- they don't have the most nutritional choices so I ordered a Kids menu french toast and turkey bacon -- I ate the french toast with syrup - not sugar free - I was being adventurous. Needless to say no more maple syrup ever again, my blood sugar dropped, I was sweating, nauseated and felt dizzy. Just some friendly advice so you don't have to experiance this as well. -
I am 9 weeks post op and went to my endocrinologist office yesterday - based on my bloodwork - my hypothyroidism is gone and my insulin levels are normal. I was right on the edge of being Type 2 Diabetic. Although I have only lost around 40 pounds, I am loosing more inches then anything -- I am going to have to go pants and bra shopping this weekend. My advice - stay off the scale its going to drive you crazy. I just wanted to announce that this surgery is successful based on my thyroid and insulin levels bouncing back to normal.

Yesterday in my last Nutrition class they were talking about hair loss after surgery. My hair is one of my best assets and I have to say I am a tad freaked out about it thinning or losing it. Is it temporary? Any solutions to prevent? Thanks

I purchased the unflavored Protein to mix with regular drinks and it just makes the consitency weird and I mixed it with yogurt and cottage cheese - same thing. Protein shakes are getting old. What has everyone else been doing besides shakes?

Dr. Halmi, Bluepoint Surgical Group, Woodbridge, VA
notsochubbybritneyspears replied to zoelifechick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery with Halmi on June 30th -- loved him, loved the staff and Potomac Hospital was wonderful - they have really improved. The private room you stay in is awesome. I only had to stay one night. My only problem was nausea and it took five meds to get that controlled. Also if you hate IVs like I do - you can ask the surgery team to numb your hand before putting in the IV -- if they say they don't do that, tell them you know for a fact they do -- the anesthiaologist has to do it. Good Luck -

Mushies Too Soon and the 30 30 30 Rule
notsochubbybritneyspears posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I was advanced to mushies too soon, I feel very nauseaus after eating and feel like hell. I think I am going back to liquids for now. Anyone else run into this. The 30 30 rule - wow that is going to be a tough one, its hard not to have a sip when eating. This will be another big challenge once I go back to mushies. Until then I am in nausea city. -

notsochubbybritneyspears posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I am loosing weight in odd places, I was 311 pre op, and now 286 - yay I was excited to see I lost a lot. My incisions look good, they used dermabond. I also saw pictures of the insides, my liver looked good, and I saw my new sleeve, looked like a zipper instead of staples, pretty cool. so yay and onto the mushie phase -

Oh My HAIR!!!
notsochubbybritneyspears replied to Smof4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was freaking also and started taking lots of biotin prior surgery and continue it now after surgery. I have new hair growth and its making my hair thick. So I am trying to beat the hair loss monster. Keep up the protein intake, vitamins and biotin. Also - Nioxin is a great shampoo as well. -
My emotions are all over the place. I am irritated I see nothing yet, yeah I know over a week post op isn't going to show yet. I feel icky emotionally and I wish I could chill in the pool. Bad day.

My first Restaurant Trip
notsochubbybritneyspears posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A friend wanted to meet for a drink, she got to drink a beer, me a unsweet iced tea. However they had some tasty tomato basil Soup I ordered, I didn't even finish half of it. It was cool I made it all work, however her chicken wings looked freaking yummy. So it wasn't too bad. It was nice to get out. -
Some advice from a new sleever
notsochubbybritneyspears posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi guys, wanted to pass on something to suggest to your doctor. While I was in surgery, they added this little pain pump device, that is basically anethesia (misspelled sorry) for your stomach muscles. Basically you have these two little lines going in the top of your abdomen attached to this little ball of meds you carry around and you can shower with. Basically I haven't touched a pain med at home, it runs out in about 3-4 days post op, you remove the little lines and it doesn't hurt and throw away the ball when its flat. Its awesome, made recovery so much better. Wanted to pass this on to make your experiance pain free. Any questions let me know. Its worth it!!!! -
