  1. I hope you made the seminar. My wife and I both have had this surgery. It has done tremendous things for us. I am only less than a month post-op and already have lost close to 50 pounds, this is including the pre-op diet. I can relate to thinking that I was smaller when I was really bigger than I thought. Now, that I have been loosing and am on track to continue to lose more, I have already stopped taking many medications I have been on and will see my Primary Care next week to discuss stoping more. I have had more enegery and now am wearing clothes that I have not been able to for years. As far as everything you described medically, you should start seeing some improvements, should you decide this is the option, as you loose weight. Whatever option you choose, as weight comes off, the problems start to resolve. Glad you're here and looking at some options.

    Help!

I was thinking the same thing. Track what you eat, limit what you eat, and maybe a fill will help. I also have heard that if you shake up your calorie intake as well as your protein intake, that might help. Stick to protein shakes in the morning as this has been helpful for me.
  3. So, last night my wife looks at me and the clothes I was wearing. Her comment, "You look like a deflated ballon." I asked, "Is that a compliment?" "Yes and no. Yes because that means your loosing weight. No, because that means your clothes don't fit you." I really don't want to buy new clothes yet. I am afraid that if I do, they will not fit in a month.

  4. 46 pounds down, another 90-95 to go. What a fun ride this has been.

  5. When I was a kid I didn't have a computer, internet, Nintendo DS, XBox, or Wii. I had a bike and a curfew. My toys were the outside world. If I didn't eat what my mom made me, I didn't eat. I didn't dare tell my parents "no" or dare to talk back. Life wasn't hard, it was life... And I survived. Repost if you liked the way you were raised, and drank water out of a hose.

    March 2011 Bandsters

    Hope everything went ok!
  7. update on my Dad, he's doing better, they are just going to monitor him for now to see how he's going to do. Thanks for all your prayers.

  8. I just was banded last Thursday. They found a Hiatal Hernia, so they opted not to fill my band because of the swelling from fixing it. They told me during my one week post-op, that it takes 3-6 fills to feel the optimum benefit. For me, it may be closer to 6. Don't give up. I just read another post where someone suggested to change calorie intake a couple of times a week and changing your workout routine. I have herd that this works for some. Just some things to consider.

    help

Sounds like what I have been told, that some fluid may need to come out. Talk to your Doctor to see. If things like this go ont too long, it could cause your band to slip

    Post surgery depression

Depression after surgery can be inevitable for some people. This is not always true for everyone. It is good to make sure you have a strong support group around you. If the meds stop working, it is always ok to go and talk to your dcotor about this. Most doctors understand that some medications have to be adjusted or changed after long time use or after life changes. Instead of focusing on depression, focus on other things that can keep you preoccupied. I.E. walking, reading, sewing, talking to people, etc. Most times depression can set in when one does not have something to focus on. Post-Surgical depression, if it sets in, only lasts for a brief time in most cases. I would not let that keep you from making a change in your life that will help you in your health in many ways to include, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. If your concern is keeping you from doing this surgery, then maybe, you may seek to speak to someone, if you don't have a support group or if talking to your support is not helping. Best wishes in what ever you decide.

Pain No matter what I eat or drink

Get to the Doctor. They told us if this happens, then they need to take out some fluid. Don't let this go on to much longer.
