Lap Band Names??
Lady_Dragyn replied to jensjourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I named mine George. It was a nick name my late father had for me as a child (my sister was Ralph), so it was an homage to him. Best of luck to you on your journey. -
bahahaha....that's all

MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!
Lady_Dragyn replied to MarcyLoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not about what you can eat, but more about what it takes to make you feel satisfied. I can eat two whole slices of pizza too, but I'm quite satisfied after one and don't need the other to feel satisfied. Just my 2 cents! -
congratulations!

OH that sucks I'm sorry you had a rough day. Hope things are looking a bit cheerier now! but 27 lbs is amazing!! Keep at it!
-
My hair and nails are doing quite well too. I'm not sure if it's any different than before, as I have always been blesses with great hair and nails, but I was expecting issues, but yay! none!! Awesome and congrats on your journey!

Just need to vent.....
Lady_Dragyn replied to slm2007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep your chin up and keep at it. Venting does help. I'm not going to offer advice, as my advice is all in your "I know" parts. So just keep your chin up and keep at it! We will all be successful, just some of us slower than others! -
My doctor's office asks for you to not have pre op and none for the first few months post op, but once you are back to normal diet it's ok in lesser quantities and they ask that we limit caffiene intake and make sure to compensate extra liquids when we do partake in caffiene. Good luck!

lady_dragyn checking in. Still 275. No plus or minus. I'm a little disappointed, but it's still a 4lb loss for the challenge. At least it wasn't a gain. Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!
Lady_Dragyn replied to MarcyLoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I had my first actual NSV (except for the usual donating of clothing) since surgery. It seems a little crazy to me, but I was so happy. I got out of the shower and wrapped the towel around me (like always) and it actually fit around me and overlapped a bit and covered me like it was supposed to. Now mind you it's still one of the big ones, but it fit! it fit! it's been 15 years since that happened I was pretty happy. So glad everyone is doing well. We will all be successful. We have to be -
Lady_Dragyn checking in - stayed the same - no + or - = 275 Did have a NSV though - seems silly, but it's been a long time - my bath towel actually wrapped around me and met on the other side all the way down! Yay me! It was one of the big ones, but I'll still take it.

well handled, and while in my head I would have down right ugly and rude, I think the best way to handle these situations is exactly how you did. Kill them with kindness. I work in a very confrontational/difficult job (auto claims adjuster) and have learned this over the years. Well done and good luck to you.

My NUT and doc's office said not to coffee due to the acids and that only decaf tea. Once the healing is done and things have calmed/progressed, it's ok to have "watered" down coffee (to cut the acidity per my NUT). By watered down she said mix with skim milk to make it a light brown color and use an artificial sweetner if necessary. I am about 2.5 weeks out and allow myself 1 or 2 cups a week. I never had an addiction to caffiene (never had headaches when I didn't drink it or when I gave it up 2 months before surgery) I just truly enjoy the taste of coffee

Pain on Left Side After Major Sneeze---Day 7
Lady_Dragyn replied to BandedKitten's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My guess is possible a pulled muscle or possibly a popped stitch. I don't know what I did, but about a week out of surgery I popped a stitch and it hurt similar to what you are describing. Hurt something aweful actually lol Peace of mind is great, so if you haven't, call your doc's office but I agree you are likely just fine Good luck. -
Fell Off the Wagon Today :(
Lady_Dragyn replied to mattie7632's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
besides don't change your ticker for a slight increase (in my opinion), you'll lose it all and then some by next weigh in I'm sure! -
completely devestated today. HELP!
Lady_Dragyn replied to akri's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost about 20lbs the first week and then gained 10 back over the next 3weeks before my first fill 1 month out. It is completely normal. Don't fret and keep your chin up, and the best thing you can do for the first 3-4 weeks or so is stay off the scale I know it's addicting, but it really is the best thing you can do. I struggle not to check it everyday, but it's such a disappointment to see even a minute gain, that I do much better checking it once a week. So that's what I try to do. But if I happen to just have a horrible need to know, I jump on to see, but never more than twice a week. -
How long will I feel this way?
Lady_Dragyn replied to rowekins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was lucky and didn't have any pain associated with gas, however my tummy still rumbles to this day (does not keep me up at night though) and I also walk a lot to help keep things moving. And I was also very tired for the first week, better the second week, but still quite tired and by week 3 and 4 I was back to normal Good luck to you. -
A post-op poll to help the newbies
Lady_Dragyn replied to Rachel412's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost exactly 10 lbs in the month after surgery. I lost 12 lbs on my preop diet. I have lost 26 lbs since my surgery date - 2.5 months out. Lots of inches though. I think I'm going to be a "slow loser", but I'm ok with that, slow is better than I was doing on my own. -
Congratulations, that is indeed something to be celebrated!

Congratulations! That's awesome

going down 2 sizes in tops and pants - giving those larger sizes away (though it is odd to see one of my best friends in my clothes {I don't share my clothes usually, I'm very particular}), my rings are getting too big (not fall off too big yet, but very loose), my favoritest pair of shoes are now too big and I can't wear them (but I can't give them away yet), my energy level is through the roof (comparatively), I can walk 3 miles and not think a minute about it, I fit into the booth at restaurants and don't have to squish...there are more, but those are the big ones

Seafood fest the past few days!
Lady_Dragyn replied to Beachy_Babs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat seafood at least 3 times a week - often more. It's good stuff...And I'm from Maine, so it's almost a sin to not like it in my opinion -
I used to play a nurse on tv...lol - no seriously I used to be a CNA (while certainly not a nurse, similar demands regarding patients, just different demands). My hats off to all you and thanks for taking care of those in need. I am now an insurance adjuster and love what I do. While nursing (I was considering going for my RN) was very rewarding, the hours just weren't for me (working swing shifts, etc). Good luck to us all and congrats to all the winners
