  1. I'm enjoying how the people who don't know I've had the surgery keep asking my if I've done something different with my hair...

    The New VST

Like the new site but I do not like advertising about meeting women with names like "Honey Bunny." I know advertising makes this possible but advertising should be appropriate. Call me old fashioned... Fit.
  6. Same story for me. Lost over 90 lbs. With Optifast and my gallbladder. That was about 18 years ago. Truthfully, I've not missed my gallbladder and have suffered no ill effects with my sleeve. And I don't have to take any gallbladder meds post op! FIt

    Joint pain

I suffered from knee pain too-bone on bone in both knees. Losing weight has certainly helped, but I have been off my glucosamine and fish oil supplements for oover two weeks and I do have some pain returning, but not the magnitude I had before surgery. Also, I had pain in my feet and ankles, which has subsided entirely. fit

    Worldwide Sport?

I use these for my pre-mixed shake and Unjury products for my protein mixes. Both surgeons I saw recommended these shakes for both pre and post op use. Fit

    September sleevers wanted!

Cherice you are not alone! I have been feeling hunger for a couple of days now. I swear my somach is screaming "feed me Seymour!!" So I eat and all is well- provided I haven't eaten too fast!! last night whilw watching TV those old food thoughts popped up- something to munch while watching the tube. but i recognized this wasn't from hunger but from boredom, so I did a load clothes and didn't think about food again. Plus I got a load of laundry done. LOL. Fit

    pre surgery jitters

Hi Thinner! I had the same reaction after winning my appeal! I had the same fears about the "what ifs". I knew the sleeve was the right option for me, but I felt little unsure even as I headed into the OR! But I am 16 days out and life is fine. I wasn't overcome with nausea or gas and am doing well returning to soft foods. An egg never tasted so good!! This forum is full of great people who are very supportive as you progresson your journey. Good luck on your journey! Fit

    YIPPEE!! my thyroid is shot

I have hypothyrodism and it's under control and am doing great with my sleeve. You'll feel so much better once your levels are normalized. Congratulations! Fit
  19. Lady- Your in the right place for support and it's ok to be scared. Having the sleeve is life-altering and surgery does come with complications. That said, I am so happy that I have my sleeve now and wouldn't look back. It's working great for me. You didn't say how the person popped her staples, so its unknown if this occurred because of medical error or patient error. However, if you follow your doctor's diet you shouldn't "pop" your stapleline. After the surgery, you follow the diet progression and sip, sip, sip your liquids, and listen to your body. It will tell when you've had enough. It's also important to follow the pre-op diet so your liver shrinks and your surgeon has plenty of room to work. The good news is...you don't starve after surgery!! I was sleeved last thursday (9/16) and am on the liquid diet for two weeks. I sometimes feel "empty," especially in the morning, but never growling hungry. That's the beauty of having the fundus of your stomach--where the hormone ghrelin is prodcued-- removed. Good luck to you and keep checking in - Fit
  20. Hi April If you find you need to come north to the Seattle area, I am happy to talk with you about my experience and surgeon who I can highly recommend (in Bellevue). I'm thinking there must be a great program in the Portland metro area. Good luck with your search! Fit

TOMORROW IS THE DAY a lil nervous

Take care of yourself and rest. I used pain medications for 2 days, you will be sore. If you have any worries call your doc! I was sleeved 8 days ago and feel so much better. Remember to sip slow and walk around as often as you're able. The walking helped to "wake up my system" and alleviated gas pains. Feel better soon- Fit:001_rolleyes:
  22. I didn't do a full liquid diet, but I had to drink three protein drinks per day. I use WorldWide Protein reday to drink and Unjury chicken soup and plain post surgery. That should get you started. God Luck Fit
  23. This is an update to my post of 8/21/10 in this forum. Today, I received a letter from Premera BCBS overturning thier denial of the sleeve. Thier decision to overturn the intial denial is based on medical necessity because I have Celiac Sprue. If anyone wants a copy of my letter, I'll be happy to email it to you. My new surgeon wrote a great letter, and I meet with him this Thursday. I must admit I'm a little overwhelmed with the news! Never give up! To our good health- Fit:thumbup1:

    September sleevers wanted!

Fleur- You are not alone. I was more excited about winning my appeal than actually having the surgery. I didn't understand why I felt so different, no WHOOO HOOO for me. As you are feeling, I felt notjing. Looking back, I believe that what I was feeling was acceptance. Also, I spent time contemplating the life long changes this surgey will bring. Now as I sip, sip, sip, and walk, walk, walk, I'm feelling more excited about the surgery and about the positve changes that I am already experiencing. Good luck on your journey! Fit

    Dreaded Denial Letter Arrived

Thanks for the kudos. If you're positive for Celiac the other issue is that the R-N-Y is a malabsorptive procedure and Celiac patients don't need further malabsorption issues in thier small intesitines. Hugs Fit
