VERY frustrated at my doctor!!!
Margaret replied to skinnynursebetty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with everyone else on here! Find a doctor who has DONE HIS/HER homework on this surgery and can be supportive. You do not have the right physician for this at all! I would research the best surgeon in your area and request some names of doctors who could take you on as their patient. Mine was wonderful and I had no idea she would be so willing to help me. You deserve better! And lean on all of us! -
Questions for the surgeon?
Margaret replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long til I can lift heavy items---vacuum, yardwork were my main concerns. I knew from his office about his credentials and his reputation among friends is stellar! -
April 8th for me. I don't think I can get more prepared than this!
-
April 8th for me. This time next week I'm planning on being right back here in my house, feeling relieved and I hope, not too bad!
-
Welcome! My weight gain came on with hypo-thyroidism also. Welcome to the group! My surgery is April 8th.

You're going to do just beautifully! I'm a music lover. My surgery is next Friday the 8th. I have an iPod Nano and I'm downloading all kinds of "new" music on it for the hospital and the next week, just to calm me down. You are so fortunate to be able to have this. Today, when I went for my last lab work, a nurse told me I was so so fortunate to be able to have the sleeve, for many have to settle for the bypass because of so many health issues. That in itself was comforting. I became "happy" and at peace when I made the decision to press on with the surgery. You likely did, too. Get some new CD's. Enjoy the music. Painkillers will kick out the pain. My two friends here who have just had this didn't even need painkillers! Good luck to you!

Mine is in TN on April 8th! Good luck to us all! -
good for you! You'll be fine. Everyone on this forum sings praises of your surgeon! My surgery is on Friday---a few days after you! You'll be home by then and doing well, I'm sure! thinking of you----way to go!
-
Don't give up! Have your surgeon's office write a letter, your PCP write you, and you appeal immediately by phone, etc. Good luck!

Do NOT be sad. Hold your head up high and just continue with your plan. How I wish I could have done this at a much younger age. I didn't gain my weight until after about 48 but here I am at 60 and thrilled to be having this after worrying about weight for years and years. My friends are with me for the most part. The ones who aren't just aren't and that's the way it's going to be. Just don't worry about telling any more and do what you want to do. I wish I'd never told a soul and just lied about some diet that had failed me in the past! You're fine-----you always have this forum for great support!

gut feelings are usually right. I wish I'd told NO ONE but a very few close friends. My surgery is next week and I think the whole world is going to call to see how I'm doing. Dread it!

clear liquids one day before surgery
Margaret posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love this forum and all the nine million before-surgery requirements. Mine is simple: clear liquids for one day. Now, does that include the Unjury chicken broth? I can always ask the group nutritionist and will, but this forum has so much more fun involved with every question. Here I have ONE LITTLE day to mind the food before surgery and I'm already worried about getting a headache. Woe is me! How do people going to Mexico get to eat tacos and drink wine the night before surgery! Do they not have to drink that awful stuff and "sit" around the house for 6 hours? One more week for me..... -
Congratulations to you! Mine is the 8th of April and I hope for an experience such as yours. You didn't even need pain meds at the hospital? WOW. thank you so for joining us. It sooooooo helps those of us about to have the surgery!

wife is not supportive at all (long)
Margaret replied to doggz109's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Our group has a sleeve support group that meets monthly. Several spouses have attended with future or past patients and they are very much a part of the conversations! I say take her to that group if you have one, and certainly to the surgeon's because she'll likely have to be there for the surgery unless someone else will be your support person, and then suggest counseling. I'm single and I cannot imagine being up against a spouse who hates change for the good. Best of luck to you----you're doing by far the best thing for you and your health! -
Surgery date changed to......Tomorrow

How wonderful for you! I have mine on the 8th----I hope it's as smooth as you are having so far! Keep us posted! -
Me, too! Mine is April 8th and I have cleaning down to a science. It's just like nesting before a baby. I'm stockpiling protein drinks, etc as if stores won't be open for months, etc. Love to see I'm not too weird in that regard!
