  1. I'm with FatBGone. Our meetings are monthly and the office is about 45 minutes from me---an easy, pretty drive, and meetings are at 6PM. I enjoy going so plan to for the immediate future anyway. The last one I was only 6 days out from surgery and loved being the Poster Child! If I had horrible traffic, etc., I'd likely just lean more on this forum!
  2. I'm doing so well. I had my surgery on April 8th. My bp rose and has flopped around a good bit. I'm on bp meds and yesterday and today it was much lower. I found myself with 105 over something around 6pm and really couldn't do anything but go to bed. Do you think tomorrow I should cut a bp pill in half and see how it goes? I do NOT want to get that tired feeling again. On Monday I can call my doctors. (of course, I'd call tomorrow if I had to). I'm getting my liquids and protein in and I'm positive it's not dehydration that has made me so exhausted. I was great all morning, took a nap, pressed on with things, and then it hit me bigtime. Suggestions?
  3. It certainly is my plan! I drank some oj---could be a bit of a low-blood sugar deal, too. Feeling GREAT today!
  4. Thank you----very encouraging. I feel too good to think anything is wrong except I don't need the meds as much. I'll call my dr. before taking anything today or just take a half of one.
  5. Thank you-----I feel too terrific and can eat things so easily that I'm not at all worried about a leak. My bp was 125/83 this morning without meds. I will call someone before taking them today. Or just take half .....thanks
  6. I'm 9 days out and I cannot believe myself! I am watching my BP, as it's dipping low. I imagine I'll be off my bp meds soon---that was ONE goal of the surgery! I can still tell I was put to sleep---sometimes feel a little fuzzy, but I haven't needed any painkillers, I sleep normally, and I can eat more easily every day. It has been the EASIEST surgery I've ever had. I'm 60 and am thrilled with the procedure so far. I had one rough day---the day after surgery, but once the bp was regulated and the headache went away, I was good to go home.
  7. Randy----sounds great to me. I'm getting a lot at just 7 days out. I think you're doing GREAT!

    Ghrelin and memory / learning?

    You are too funny!
  9. I would give it 2-3 weeks----I'm only 6 days out and eating/sipping/ takes a long time per meal. Plus, about every other day I have to take a big nap. I also am not sleeping well yet----I think my body is hungry but I don't want any more intake at night! Takes awhile to process a meal!
  10. Here are my pearls of wisdom for you: I am 5 days out. THERE WAS NO PAIN. My surgery date was a walk in the park it was so pain free. I'm serious! I got sick the next day with fever and high bp but the NEXT day I was back on track. The pre-op hour was not bad at all. I had great nurses whose needles were barely felt. I WAS AMAZED. No pain! And had I known the painkiller in the iv would help make me sick I wouldn't have used any because I really didn't need it. One more time: NO PAIN. There was a girl in our support group who thought she had done something wrong. She had band to sleeve surgery and woke up thinking our doctor hadn't done anything. She had, guess what? NO PAIN!!! Think of it as a countdown. "This time tomorrow, I'll be .....whatever"......I saw my surgeon yesterday and here I am having a scrambled egg for breakfast already! I'm having my second cup of coffee as I write this. good luck to you. Stay busy! Walk and sip and walk and sip. You'll be fine.

Tell them. Then rely on this website for support when you find the naysayers. And most naysayers will be heavy and unwilling at this point to change. It'll be a load off your mind. I found a few staunch supporters and now everyone is eager to see how I'm doing. Well, I'm 5 days out and have been sipping and playing in the garden! Not a problem in the world except for the day after surgery and that was by fluke with a lack of bp medicine and allergy to morphine which I didn't need to begin with. Tell them. Remember these words, " I've decided this is the best decision FOR ME." Not much anyone can criticize with that. Good luck to you!
  12. I made it! First day with surgery: a breeze Second day: worst day I can ever remember with fever, nausea, high pb, probably due to morphine the day before which I really didn't need much, and today HOME and feeling decent. I'm resting and eating Jello and popsicles and some broth. So good to have it behind me!
  13. Great idea! I, too, have thought of that reward in time. I just had my surgery Friday so I'm not quite in the market. I live near our bike trails and used to love to ride, although HILLS are the name of the game here! Might I ask you what kind of bike you got? Details! And congratulations!

    my secret.... 8(

You and me both! Surgery was very easy. Next day was high bp, heachache, painfully swollen iv, and nausea. Went away after 12 hours and I was a new person. I'm currently sipping on pureed cream of potato soup with unflavored protein powder. Yummy! We are onto the good days ahead!
  16. Great! You'll do just great! My little advice: don't take pain meds much. I got sick from them. Surgery part was EASY and not much pain at all!
  17. My doctor said no heavy lifting until 3 weeks out---and that entails heavy garden work. Walking from the get-go.

    day 4

My insides must have talked with your insides. I'm better, I think. Trying another shake today. thanks so much!
  19. My doctor's nurse told me to take chewable Pepto Bismol. anyone else having trouble with this?

    Hospitalized

You're not a big baby! You are just having a rough time of it all. I had one horrible, hideous day and was mad at myself all day long for doing this: now, I'm puttering around recovering. Take good care of yourself and get better soon!
  21. I'm 60 and had the surgery on Friday. It was EASY. I got very sick the next day from the pain killers which I really didn't need to begin with. I honestly feel like I'm recovering now from Saturday, NOT Friday's surgery! All is good! Good luck to you!
  22. that's wonderful to hear! I'm just 4 days out and can't wait to post something like this!

    Today is the BIG day

GREAT for you! You'll do very well. Just don't use too much pain stuff when you reallyl don't need it. I regretted that bigtime, but other than that, no problems!

    day 4

Rootman----it IS the runs I have. I'm afraid to leave my house. I hope the Pepto is working. I thought I'd love getting to Soups and Protein shakes. Well, not so much but I'm doing well for day 4 I do believe! Thanks!
  25. I would put on a happier face and get another psychologist to evaluate you and just press on. don't give up on this. Just do what you need to do and get the evaluation in your favor no matter how you have to do it!
