    Appetite Suppressant Pre-Op?

I'd stay away from it. I used it and my BP just went too high, and I'm already on BP meds. I lost very little---does rev up the energy though!

    Alcohol

Take a tiny sip and wait to see what happens. My research says don't drink. I'll have my procedure in April and am trying to stop the wine now!
  3. Just turned 60 and you are my heroine! Mine will be in March or April. How I wish this had been around 15 years ago!

    Naysayers! Blah....

Dusti---same thing happened with me. I copied and pasted this website for a few friends, then wrote a little e-mail about my decision and mailed it. Very interesting little project. I had told my friends about my decision earlier, and as you experienced, got mixed reviews to say the least. One really honed in on the negatives and left me feeling a bit upset. HOWEVER, in telling them, I knew to expect some negativity. I thought if they'd really study the topic they would realize I was in the company of many lovely people simply wanting to be healthier and NOT doing something they decided overnight! The ones who really need to change the most are the ones most critical, and so it goes. People simply don't like change. One very on-board supportive friend jumped in from the get-go and claimed first dibs on my clothes. Cracked me up, and she's MUCH smaller than I am. I found the support group for the sleeve here to be one of the most upbeat meetings I've ever attended. I won't miss the next one, and am thrilled to have a new circle of buddies with the same goals.

    Surgery on Tuesday

Good luck to you this week! I'm with you on that mall-walking. It'll be different in a few weeks and your knees will be smiling!

Bad case of the what ifs

I think we would all be abnormal to not think of the "what if''s". You've had some great advice given to you today, in my opinion. I don't know how far you have to travel or how old your children are, but I do know that flying is a beast when one is overweight. I also know that my child greatly encouraged me to do this and get healthy. I know that once I decided to do this-----and my sleeve isn't until April most likely----I instantly became happy. Decision made. Press on with it. Make yourself a list and study it-----pros and cons. Read the book The Skinny on Weightloss, and be excited! GO FOR IT!

Less than 48 hours til surgery!

Press on with your good self! Mine is in April, most likely, and your post is very helpful! I'll be just like you---believing it when it's over! God Speed to you!

    Anyone been approved with Cigna?

My group told me to plan on 2-4 weeks but that it could be sooner with Cigna and that it would all be faxed. You are getting me really excited! Maybe I'll get to have the surgery in March rather than April. Thank you---love this website!

    Cigna folks?

I have to have my PCP weigh me and take my bp every month for 6 months. My understanding is its a requirement for everyone with Cigna. You CAN go every 25 days and shave off a month which is what my weightloss group told me to do-----I thought that was brilliant.....
  11. Hi there----as a former Talbots employee, I say watch their sales and specials. Ask me questions and I'll try to help you. I wouldn't invest in their very expensive things until your weight is where it's going to be forever! I'd hit Target for simple things and try these places for ordering: shopnational.com and look for deals and also SoftSurroundings.com They have great sales! Good luck! I'll get my sleeve in a couple of months.
  12. Kris---thank you so much! My surgery is in April in TN. I cannot tell you how wonderfully informative your post is! Keep writing! You inspire those of us coming along behind you.
  13. I think you'll do it. I'm a couple of months away from surgery with insurance requirements and am completely resigned to doing this and sometimes am down-right excited. My group gave me a book called, The Skinny about Weight Loss and it addresses some of your concerns. I've told my friends and am stopping alcohol, trying to get to 62 oz of water a day and so on.....I think once I made the decision, told people, and then pretty much developed an attitude about just pressing on and not worrying over the people not especially on board with my decisions. I think having a LOT of requirements beforehand is a very good thing. This week I'll go to my first Sleeve Support group. I, too, rely on these posts for information. They are so comforting and I've learned so much! You'll do the right thing. If it's right for you, tell your friends. I didn't ask for support or approval, but told them it's what I've decided is right for me ---and that after a LONG time considering this! Good luck!

    Alcohol

My doctor group says alcohol of any kind goes straight to your liver and one becomes a "cheap drunk" real fast. My friends who've had any of the surgeries pretty much gave up alcohol. I quit a week ago to get the idea in my head before surgery in April....
  15. Good luck! Please post as much as you feel like for people like me who have it in the upcoming future! Lucky you to have it now! I'll think of you and pray for a swift recovery!
