How Low is Too Low?
Margaret replied to KabinKitty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had my surgery yet, but in the support group, it was mentioned to get an appointment with your personal physician at the same time you have your one week visit post-op with your surgeon to monitor the BP. -
Could those of you with Cigna Insurance tell me about how long it took to have your surgery approved by them from the time it was sent in from your surgeon's office? Thank you---I'm trying to line everything up.....

Cigna Insurance Turn-around Time
Margaret replied to Margaret's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you----I'm through with all requirements this Tuesday and will be ready except for that waiting part! -
Oh my you've been dealt a blow! I'd lean on the weight loss surgeon and your doctor to decide what route to take and to try to rush things along for you. I personally think the weight loss surgery will require a lot of walking and getting up and down to do so. I haven't had mine yet, but I know walking is going to be a huge part of it. Best of luck to you. Your doctors will help you decide, I'm sure. 2011 will be a hard year, but think of how fabulous you'll be this time next year!

How wonderful-----thank you for posting!
-
Bless your self-----soon to be your little self! I haven't had my surgery yet, but I know you are going to have better days now! I'm not so worried about the anesthetic, but things do happen. Keep on---sip, walk, sip, walk. It's behind you!

Tomorrow Can't Come Soon Enough

Lucky you! Tomorrow will not be so bad. They'll give you something to make you not care about anything and time will fly by! Prayers for you and a speedy recovery! -
Feeling betrayed and ANGRY. Advice?
Margaret replied to Skinnyagain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you've made the decision and gotten the date nothing should sway you, especially negativity from ANYWHERE. Isn't it amazing the curves that get thrown our way when we're trying to make a good call for ourselves? I am with everyone else who has written you: press on with your good self and your good intentions. Your husband should not ever be having financial meetings with his parents without you-------or even with you and them, unless someone in there is a financial advisor........I'm envious you have your date!~ I say go buy the items you'll need for your surgery, re-arrange your cabinets, and stay very busy with positive thoughts. And get on this site as often as you can for all the help people are so willing to give! And good luck! -
Excited, Nervous, Anxious...you name it!
Margaret replied to Lanette's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Might I ask which insurance company you have? I'm right behind you-----last dr. visit is Monday. -
How exciting! I wish you all good thoughts! Keep us posted! I'm behind you---probably March, I hope. I wish I could be there with you tomorrow!~

Why did he tell everyone??
Margaret replied to 2*the*new*me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Holly, Holly, Holly---lean on your closest friends and this website and your doctor's group for support at this time. The rest will be but a bad memory and YOU will come out so well ahead that this will have been just a glitch. Maybe your husband is apprehensive and scared on several fronts. Pay attention to how he behaves from this point forward! I'm sure he understands he was a jerk for telling those you wouldn't have wanted to know this. I haven't had mine yet, but wish I'd told fewer people. Now I'm just chilling, waiting on the date and reading up on diet tips, etc from anywhere I can! This week will go by so quickly that the initial anger will fade. Best of luck to you and keep us posted when you can! -
I should be right behind you! I'm soooooo hoping for that same week, but won't know for a couple of weeks. Good for you!

Approved today! Now I am scared!!!
Margaret replied to Sheila RN's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You and me both! I kind of wish I'd never told anyone I'm about to have it. My BMI isn't even 40. I think we're supposed to waddle in a room, use a cane, have a heart attack, wear mumus, drive a van with huge arms hanging out, to qualify in many of our friends' eyes for this procedure! I wish I had my date. In fact, YOU have the date I'm hoping for! What insurance did you have that approved this inside a week? Way to go!!!!! -
wow! Congratulations to you. You cannot imagine how much people like me who are right behind you love to hear these positive stories. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing!

Not sure how I feel about this
Margaret replied to Rev Me Up!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My WL group told me a month or so ago that 30 BMI is being approved more and more. We'll start seeing sleeve news all over the place when word gets out how great it is and how insurance companies are waking up! -
I haven't had mine yet, but the friends here who have gone before me did not have a drain.....
-
I am planning to get sleeved
Margaret replied to julissa0228's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, Judith! I'm getting ready to have the sleeve procedure and cannot wait. I attend a wonderful sleeve support here (TN) and one night a woman who had had her band reversed to sleeve said she thought she surely MUST be doing something wrong it had been so easy. She said the surgery was a breeze, she was eating, she was losing weight, she felt like a million dollars without a problem in the world. She was hilarious! I know it's the way to go if one wants to make a big positive difference in his/her health. This website answers all kinds of questions. If your are has a support group, go! Ours meets once/month for 45 minutes. Last month we brought clothes for a big clothing swap. Best of luck to you. If I had a band, I'd get rid of it with the sleeve without a qualm in the world! -
When I see photos like this, I KNOW I'm about to do the right thing for me. Thank you so for posting these.....

I cannot wait! Congratulations!
