How many fills is normal or not normal?

I'm sorry if I offended you...I didn't quite know how to ask my question about fills since I'm newly banded in April of this year. I'm certainly not trying to encourage anyone to compare ourselves to one another, I really believe that while we are all on the "lap band journey" together, that we are each on our own personal journey with weight loss and that that journey is very specific to each individual. I know that some folks need more in their bands and some need less to find their sweet spot. Since I've needed several fills to keep my weight loss going and my hunger down I guess I was just looking to see that others had experieneced the same thing too. That's what this site is about I thought...you know...finding support from others on the journey. Again sorry for any offense.

    Couch to 5K anyone?

  5. I've had my band now since April. Doing well overall and I have no complaints. I've had two fills now and I'm up to 5 cc total in my band. Question is...how many fills is normal? I understand that everyone is different and you need to judge restriction with weight loss, etc. I'm happy with where I am now but I wondered if in the next couple of months if I want more restriction is that being too greedy when my weight loss is average....how much do the majority of us have in our bands? Is wanting more restriction a bad thing? I do still have hunger at times even though I 'm eating like they've instructed me too. Any thoughts?
  6. Been a while since I've updated....Doing well still with the band...have a total of 5 cc now...able to tolerate anything as long as I chew really well and take my time...I'm down in the 220's now...I'm hopeful to be at or under 200 by xmas...started training for my first 5k this week...very excited!

did i make the wrong decision?

Sounds like gas pains from the anesthesia...it gets better I promise!
  8. 3-4 days for me to at least get rid of the aches associated with gas pains....by the end of the first week I felt pretty good. I took two weeks off just to ensure I healed and relaxed.
  9. This question is for all you seasoned bandsters...So I know we're not supposed to drink after we've had the band placed...I wasn't much of a drinker to begin with so it hasn't bothered me in the least bit...however as many of you know there are times when a drink is almost impossible to refrain from (wedding toasts, etc) So my question is this...in the event that we decide to partake in a drink, what's the best choice for us to make? I know fizzy/bubbly drinks or beer is not an option (I've heard it stretches the pouch!! . I'm only a couple of weeks out so haven't encountered this obsticle yet....any suggestions?
  10. Also...bought clothes in an XL yesterday vs XXL...can I just tell you how wonderful that feels!!! :o)

  11. Hit the 230's today....239 to be exact...haven't seen those numbers since last summer....amazing that I've taken off the weight that I've gained in 1 year in the course of 1 month! LOVE THE LAP BAND!!

  12. Soooo...how did it go??

  13. Hey there!! I'm glad to see you're doing well! Me too! I was banded on 4/27...back to work this past monday and doing good! How's the diet going for you? I'm in the mushy phase

    Banded April 27

Everyone sure was right about walking that gas pain away. I would say for 2-3 days I really didn't feel like myself...sat at the house and asked myself why in the hell did I do this to myself...by day 3 though moving, breathing and drinking didn't hurt hardly at all. In fact my inscision pain only lasted for 2 days...after that it was really only the gas pains in my shoulders and a wave like pain that would start in my sternum and then move up (almost like a burp) then resolve. This one freaked me out...but my doc said it was all related to gas pains/anesthesia. I noted that the gas pains were worse when I sat up first thing in the morning too. Moving helps best of all. I returned to nursing at the bedside tonight with some lighter duty restrictions. Overall I feel pretty great! I've only got 4 incisions...I figured there would be five but only 4; the scabs and glue are falling off already and they're healing up nicely!
  15. I was finally banded on April 27th....did well overall...walked in at 9am...was on the table at 10 and walking out the door at 1230 if you can believe that! It only took my surgeon an hour to place the band and fix my hernia. I'm feeling better today than I have so far...I'm able to move around more...gas pains are kicking my butt, but I'm trying to walk, walk and walk some more. First day was pretty rough, but I can say it's getting better everyday. Glad to have finally started the 'rest of my life'....
