Oh my gosh...I'm so sorry! I can't even begin to imagine how you feel....that's an awful lot of stress at one time....where do you go from here? I'm currently waiting for approval from insurance so I can only relate so much... keep your chin up! You have everyone's support up here!

I was told when my endoscopy was done that I have a medium sized hiatal hernia. The doc said I should still be OK for the band...but now I'm worried.... I was wondering if anyone else was told they have a medium sized hiatal hernia before their surgery (banding) and was there any complications or problems with still getting the band? I'm worried that I may be told I can only go gastric...I'm not opposed to gastric I just feel that the band is what is the best option for me... Just wondering if anyone else had dealt with something similiar?

I'm getting ready for my surgery too and I made myself a deal not to openly discuss this idea with anyone other than immediate and directly close relatives. I've found that everyone has a different opinion about WLS and I didn't want anyone to cloud my mind one way or an other. I told only my parents, my life long best friend and my husband. My supervisors know at work simply b/c I wanted them to be prepared that I would need time off coming soon. But I wanted to be able to make a clear decision about what was right for me and for me alone. I'm glad I chose to do this...now I've taken time to really think and prepare myself mentally and I'm READY to change my life. The opinions of others will not impact my outlook or my mind frame right now...I wish you all the best...make the decision about what's right for your body and mind only. Afterall you know your body better than anyone else! ) -
I believe that 100%. I've been a nurse now for >5 years. While I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the profession and wouldn't give it up for anything I've put on 40-50 pounds eating "fast foods" and eating on the run when patients need me on the floor. Not to mention the caffeine intake to stay energized on long night shifts.

Hello all! Just joined this morning. I'm just finishing up the process for the band. I've completed all the requirements and I meet with my surgeon this coming Friday (3/18). I've been researching the band for a long time now. I'm so ready! After meeting with the surgeon, they'll have to submit everything to the insurance company and I'm praying for a quick turn around so that I can start 'living' the rest of my life. I've been following the posts now for several months and find them very helpful. Thank you everyone for sharing!
