    Hello

Congrats! hope your surgery goes well
  2. my diet goes: Clear liquids (apple juice, water) for 2 days, full liquid (cream strained soups) for 2 weeks, puree (baby food) for 2-3 weeks, soft (scrambled eggs) for 2-4 weeks, and then regular diet. I was banded yesterday so i have not experinced the "stuck" yet. But as I understand it, it is when a piece of food gets stuck on the way down to stomach. Then you have to "productive burp" to get the food up. I have a lot of pain at the port site. It is hard to sit, stand, and lay down. the gave me liquid lortab for the pain, it takes the edge off but still lots of pain. I heard this pain only lasts for 3-4 days. Good luck with your surgery!
  3. Thank you. and don't worry. Everyday is another day towards your surgery. Hang in there. I can't wait to get on full solids. :)

  4. i'm sorry. I could not find you of FB there r a lot of people with your name lol

    Banded Yesterday, extreme pain!

surgery done yesterday. had some anxiety before surgery, but my mom came with me and kept me from bolting out of there lol. Port site has alot of pain. Its hard to sit, stand, and lay down. takeing in 4 oz of Clear liquids every hour. Nausiated once, but no other problems right now. The nurses gave me an ice pack and i have been using it alot. I don't think the cold is helping but the pressure of holding it there is what is helping in my opinion.

  7. Hope you had a good birthday yesterday. My surgery went well. I am still in a lot of pain today. the pain is at the incision where they put in the port. I have four incision sites. I am allowed to drink 4oz of clear liquids an hour. So far i haven't had any problems. Just a little nausiated when i drink 2 oz of water and my pain medicin to fast. I walked around for 20 min and that helped.

  8. My docotor said that i should be on 2 weeks liquid, 2-3 weeks puree, 2-4 weeks soft food.
  9. and just to tell ya... I had my information meeting on 2/8/11. so it took me two months to get everything together.

  10. When I went to see my surgeon last friday, I just said "I want this surgery next week" and they made it happen. I guess they were just tired of me arguing with them. lol. I started the liquid diet early so I could get in any time and also for lent. I do not recomened starting early unless you have too. April 7th is my sisters birthday too. Happy Birthday! Hope your day is as good as mine.

  11. the reason I got in so fast is because I have been pushing it. my insurance is up April 25th, I turn 26 years old and won't be under my parents insurance anymore. I had to call and fight with everyone to get my paperwork submitted to insurance in a timely manner and then I had to fight with insurance to get approved faster.

  12. Congratulations. I just got my surgery date yesterday. April 7th. Good luck on yours.
  13. Hello The protein shakes I like the most are the atkins shakes. I have tried the milk, dark chocolate and the carmel cafe. I have bought some strawberry and will be trying that soon. I also suggest finding a protein powder to add to milk to help get in all the protein you need. GNC has a lot of different powders that are high in protein (a little expensive though) I am not banded yet (next week) but I have been experementing with stuff since March 9th. I started the liquied diet for lent. I also had mad cravings in the beginning. I found that mixing different soups and things together helped with that. Like for my taco cravings I added, nacho cheese soup, beef consumme, and taco seasoning. There is also a forum in the post op sections i think with liquied diet recipies.
  14. My surgery has been scheduled for April 7 :) How is your pre diet going?

  17. Hello everyone! I just got my approval to have surgery yesterday. This thursday I have my first appointment with the surgeon. What should I expect? Will he do blood work and so forth? I am kinda nervous because I have not quit smoking yet. I tried to do it cold turkey and failed. Did anyone get denied surgery for smoking?
  18. I got approval from my insurance yesterday!:) Now I have an appiontment to see my surgeon on Thursday. :) I was starting to think this wasn't going to happen, I'm so happy right now

  19. I do not have a date yet either. I am waiting to hear back from insurance company. All my paperwork has been submitted. I got lucky and didn't have to wait months to do a diet though. I hope it goes quickly for you too.

    Liquid Stage Recipes

I have just started the liquid diet for post surgery ( i do not have a date yet but i'm also doing it for lent ). I have had Taco cravings like non other, so i made this to help Fiesta nacho cheese Soup, beef consume, skim milk, taco seasoning. I mixed in blender to taste and warmed in microwave. It realy helped curve my craving. It is spicy though. but so gooooood.

Hello, I just joined this morning as well. I am waiting for pych eval to be sent to clinic and then sent to insurance. I realy hope it doesn't take to long as my insurance runs out soon. I will be 26 at the end of april. I realy think i need this surgery to live. I have high cholestoral. My triglycerides were over 600! My blood sugar was a little high too at the last check. My weight is 271lbs and I'am 5'7". I have a long history of diabetes and heart disease in my family and no one has been as big as me. If i don't have this surgery i think i will be dead by 35. I also have joint problems in my knees and ankles that have bothered me since high school and lower back pain. I have a lot of concerns of the aftermath of the surgery. Will i like my body? Will my boobs look like pancakes? Will people realy treat me differenty? And unfortuantly I'm afraid of dating afterwards. Is this guy just wanting to go out with me because i lost weight? These are the questions I am hoping to answer on here. thankyou for any replies.
