Toqu: What type of appetite suppressant do you take?
-
I'm not sure about the fills. I figured if I get banded, I will pay for the fills if I have to. I've read that the fills are about $100, the money I will save from not eating out and on groceries, I can pay for my fills. I buy everything else I will do it.

On another thread someone suggested cutting up your food in to small pieces like you do for kids when they are learning to eat. I will be giving that a try. It really makes since. If it is cut up then I won't bite off to much and the smaller the pieces spread out the more it will look like I'm eating!! -
I didn't have to jump through any hoops - My BMI is 35.5, I don't currently have any comorbidities but they run in my family. Cancer, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, High Cholestrol, congestive heart failure, kidney problems, etc. My uncle just got his kidney transplant - he had been on the waiting list for over 3 years. My brother past away with congestive heart failure, so on so forth. My job is very stressful and I think the insurance company is very aware of it. I think they do it as a preventive measure. If they band me now - I can't keep sitting on my butt eating and getting overweight and then be out of work due to medical issues. Whatever there reason I like it - I'm getting BANDED BABY!!!!!
-
pamla68: I think they do both. I called the Dr. office to see if they got the letter, she told me that I would get the letter first or at the same time - the Dr. office is closed on Friday's, because they are open on Saturday - so I will try to fax tonight and call tomorrow, or I will fax and call tomorrow. I'm so ready to get the ball rolling down the hill. bamagirl36526: Thanks for the congrats -

Thank you guys so much - I feel like giving a group hug - I'm hoping to be banded before we go camping - I think the walking around the park and running behind the kids will be great excercise. I will be gone from 3/11-3/14. I can't wait.
-
Oh yeah - I will take a picture on my motorcycle - which I plan to be able to ride again this summer!!!
-
OK, Now it's all down hill from now??? I bought new batteries for my camera so I will be taking my before pictures. I want one in a bathing suit I wore LAST summer - a dress my husband bought me and a workout outfit. I will take my measurements so when I don't loose pounds I can reflect on my inches. As long as the scale/measurments do go in a negative way I will be ok. I will no longer be a victim of food - I will take control of my life, instead of my life controlling me. I will keep a food journal for a minimum of 3 months. I will exercise a minimum of 30 mins a day. I am so ready for this. Reality is setting IN!!!!

It's here. I was coming from my kids school and I saw the mailman at the end of our cul-d-sac. I didn't even pull my car all the way in the garage. I messed around in the garage until he got to my box...I stalked him as he put my mail in and drove to the stop sign...then I pounced on that mailbox like it was my last meal. There it was UHC and my name..ignoring all other mail I opened it - You are approved. Thank you - THANK YOU MAILMAN!!! Then I called the Dr. office (wanting to fax this to them - don't want to waste anymore time), however; I got the answering service. Oh well - I will make a copy and carry it around in my car - I'm almost banded!!!! -

Heard anything yet? Well If it helps - I'm still waiting - Let see: 1/29 - Dr sent info 2/12 - Insurance co said approved - letter just needed to be sent 2/19 - Insurance co said can take up to 2 weeks to get letter 2/22 - still waiting Hey - Let us know when you get your letters!!
-
Mindysa: There was a girl at my job that use to do that. We couldn't figure out why she would buy food, chew it up and then spit it out. Another co-worker finally got up the courage to ask her. And she told her that she had the lapband and she couldn't eat the food she wanted so she would do that and it satisfied her. I don't plan on doing it. But I think it is very honest of you to share. I'm sure you are not the only one!!!

Thanks Betsyjane. I checked the mail before coming to work and nothing - I plan on calling the insurance company on Monday. I wonder if they can fax it to me. I'm so ready to be banded. I've gained 2 more pounds. -
Lower BMI bandsters: No activity today - we need to have a check in day - Maybe Sunday - Take a little time and do a least 1 post and let everyone know quickly how you are doing. I'm use to getting on here and reading post but none since yesterday - hope all is well. Happy Friday!!! Have a Great weekend -

Well Everyone I called the insurance company and they told me that I was approved. I am waiting on my letter and then I will be scheduled to have my surgery. I can't wait. Have you guys started Mall Walking? Hope to be meeting with you guys soon. -
I have UHC choice Plus - My doctor submitted my insurance information on Monday 1/29 and I called them on Monday 2/12 and thay advised it had been approved but they had overlooked sending out my letter and it would go out that day or the next. I called my Dr's office and they gave me a reference number and they told me to ask for the claims review dept. Maybe you are talking to the wrong reps. Wish you all luck.

Hello Everyone: I'm still waiting on the letter from the insurance company. I'm going to call the Dr.'s office on tomorrow and see if they've heard anything. I've been told by other Banders that once I get my letter and call the office I should be able to have my surgery the following week. I hope so. Missy67: I think in the end you and your DH will be much happier. You will be successful with loosing weight and keeping it off and that will make him happy because you are happy. I think that is a motivator for me. I wish you luck and keep us posted. Thanks to all those that answered my question about the pre-op info. I found it and plan to go out and pick up everything this weekend. I'm like a kid at christmas, I can't wait!!! Type to ya later.

Missy67: My husband wasn't for the band either. He is also overweight and he takes meds, but he totally against the surgery for him. I've been on this roller coaster for awhile and felt that I can't do this anymore. One day when I was at home (alone) I went to take my shower and passed the mirror. I stopped and looked. I diguested myself - there is no way in the world that I would be able to continue to live my life like this. Later on I sat down and thought what if I keep doing what I'm doing where will I be? For the last 15 years I've been looking for a tool that would help me loose weight and keep it off. We've all tried them all - All the infomercials, the dieting, the starving, but those are TEMPORARY FIXES. We do loose, but then we regain and then something happens and 1 bad day turns into 2 and then 3 and so on. I knew about the lapband but didn't know a lot about it - I started researching that day. I thought I have to take care of me and then I can take care of my husband and kids. If I'm unhealthy how can I be a good wife or mother. My kids are like the energizer bunny - I have to be around to be there for them. I told my husband about it, I told him why I wanted to do it and I went to the seminar. He left the house one day and about 15 min later he called me and said - "I'll support you if you really want to do this". From then on he's been very supportive. The best advice I can give is to take care of you so that you can live a long life with him. I'm sure after the surgery when you start having all that energy he'll be a HAPPY MAN!!

Hello Lower BMIers: I checked the mail and no letter yet. I'm home when the mail is delivered then I go to work. So I don't have to be worried if it is sitting in the mail box. Can someone help me find the site where I can find out all the stuff I need to buy BEFORE surgery. I want to have everything I need before surgery. I'm sure DH would go get it if I need to, but if your DH is like my DH he would come back with multiples and say try one - see which one you like. Well, I'm on my way to work - got an ugly schedule today 330p-1230a. Will be chatting with yall later.

I so miss talking to you guys - I kindof got busy there and the computer was the last thing on the list. I have a 10 year old and twins (boy/girl) that are 8 and we have had a full schedule these past couple of weeks. Jules: Thanks - I can wait to be part of the "Group" Babygotback - You are so encouraging - I'm not even going through some of the stuff you are addressing but I get encouraged when you post. We have planned our camping trip for spring break. We are going to Jellystone Park in Waller, TX. Spring Break is in March - I hope to be banded before then - if not it will have to wait until I get back. My kids are so looking forward to camping. I'm now in the "Get the house together mood". I read that I should have everthing done so I don't have to do anything while I'm recovering. My treadmill is broke so I plan to put it in the shop BEFORE surgery so I have no excuses when the time comes. Hey - I know they say if your doing something with your hands you won't snack. I subscribe to a site called grocerygame.com. It saves me $$$$ on grocerys. When I cut the coupons out of the papers, I notice I don't snack. So I try to do it at night (when I would normally eat), on my breaks at work, etc. But it is great, I know we can't eat ALOT, but it saves when you know when to buy products and when you use coupons. Check it out, again its grocerygame.com. Well I will be back on a little later -

Hello Everyone - Haven't posted in awhile - did go back through to catch up - You guys are doing great. I called the insurance co today. The rep said - "Yes you were approved, but it doesn't look like they mailed your letter". So they are to mail it today or tomorrow and when I receive it I will be on my way. I will check in later -
