Per the website, bandmd.com your ideal body weight is 108-132. Which means that if they look at the high side (132) you are shy of 100 lbs. overweight by 4 pounds. Your BMI is showing to be 39.1. Hopefully the additional information from your doctor will help. The insurance company should look at this as preventive. If you loose weight - then you will not develope the high blood pressure or diabetes. This will also help with your back pain. Good Luck.:clap2:

BGB: Thanks for the information. That is my next big thing - I will make sure to follow the rules so I can get a good fill, I feel very restricted right now - but of course it is only 1 day after surgery!

Got pictures: My doctor gave me 3 pictures - 2 of my band (9.75cm) and one of the xray liquid going down - did anyone else get a picture of their band?

Ok I'm 1 day post - op. I had a slimfast for Breakfast, sugar free popsicle, and my Water - I bought 10 cases of water and I have to drink 4 bottles a day - for my 64 oz. I have had 1 1/2 so far - don't want to drink to fast and I took me a nap ( boy naps are good in the day). Tea Time you are in bandland now - congrats!!!

You can learn alot about the doctors here - I would try to see if there is someone in your area that had a successful experience with a doctor in your area. There were two main ones in my area - 1 in network 1 out - I went to the 1 in network, not only because he was in network, but because the Lap Band is all he does. He use to do the gastric, but he prefers to do the Lap Band, says it is safer and better success rate. I belive in his work really now. I had very little gas pain and I was up and moving around last night - my incisions have tape but it's like in a row - not all over - I love him.

NurseTeresa you are correct - I was there at 5:45 (had to be there for 6am). They wheeled me back, gave me my lala juice, and away I went - woke up in recovery w/o any problems. Came home and slept - since I have a laptop it sits on my nightstand and it's always on. I misspelled some words on some other post - think the drugs still in me. However; I'm doing great.

OK as all can see surgery was fine - I'm home and sipping on my liquids - pain is very managable. Got the heating pad on my port (Thanks BGB), had about 4 popsicles for flavor - tried to sip some soup but sat it in the wrong area and my pregnant doggy got a hold of it - she loves chicken broth. So I just drunk some water. I will post tomorrow.

BGB: Hadn't had a chance to read all previous post - But I'm sorry you had such a traumatic situation, but I'm glad to hear everything is ok now. My prayer's are with you.

Welcome Tulips: I had surgery today, I have a low bmi - my insurance did cover it. I have UHC choice Plus.

Welcome court4short: I have UHC Choice Plus - My BMI is lower than yours and I was approved-I think you will be ok

Last post before going to bed. I feel really good. I'm 1/2 way doing this on my own - my DH has to play superdad/husband. Since I have to be at the surgery center @ 6 am - My kids don't get on the bus until 6:30. My daughter is in a black history program and DH is going to try to make it to that, then after that he is going to come to hospital - Once home - he has to go to my oldest daughters open house 6-730. Our kids are very important to us and I understand if he can't physically be there, I really hate I'm going to miss my daughters program - But I took her to buy her outfit and she understands. Well - thanks for the prayers, Post again as a bander. Tea Time - I will not be able to post before you have surgery so Good Luck, and I will pray for you!!

I actually had my last meal without realizing it or it may have gotten ugly - My DH took the kids and I out to Pappas, I couldn't eat it all so I got a to go box - the next morning I got up and ate it - I went to my pre-op and they said only liquids tomorrow. I thought nothing of it and went about my day, I did go to Popeye's and Sonic (Tuesday Night Special) - Had 1 piece of chicken, 1 hamburger. Today I only got to have clear liquids.

Ladyvase: I'm in it with you - I'm also scheduled for tomorrow - I may be the first 1 because I have to be there for 6am. Good luck tomorrow.

Ok you guy's I had water and NO SUGAR popsicles. I am now watching American Idol, I should be ok for awhile. I plan to go to bed around 9pm. I have the alarm set for 4:30am. I probably won't sleep at all - If I don't that will be fine - I will sleep well during my surgery. I have my prescriptions filled, my OTC meds. I should be good to go. I'm actually driving myself to the Surgery Center so DH can get the kids off to school and then his friend is going to drop him off. Hope I remember where I park the car!! My mother will be here on Friday. Well, I will post later. Keep me in your prayers!!

I'm suppose to be cleaning up - I can't stay off this site - I'm so excited - so far 1 bottle of water down. Scared I'm going to eat something - Thanks MEW I'll check that site out.

I went yesterday for my pre-op. I have to do a clear liquid diet today. Pamla68 - I do have a post op, but for pre op I only have to do Clear liquids the day before. For me this is considered preventive - I have been on diet pills - they took me off and I'm blowing up - I've gained 7 pounds since my consultation. I'm considered a low BMI since it is under 40.

Hello Friends: It's the day before and I am on my clear liquids - I had dreams last night like you wouldn't believe. They were all about me forgetting I was on liquids and I ate something. So guess what I haven't ate or drunk anything yet - I wanted to take the time out now to post because the kids are off to school and I need to finish laundry so everything is done. I will be going to the store later to p/u a few more things - I will also be pulling out the heating pad (Thanks BGB). I went to the store yesterday and got me some slim fast and water. I will be going back to get the popsicles. I have to be a surgery at 6am so I will try to post tonight before I go to bed - Please all keep me in your prayers. It is a day surgery for me since I'm lose risk so I should be home by 2pm on tomorrow.

Thanks MEW, DH took us out to eat tonight - I don't usually get off this early, I normally work nights. We had a great time - I just kept thinking - next time I'll ask for 4 kids menus, 3 for the kids and 1 for me. I can't wait.

OK, it shows that the insurance co cc my doctor's office the letter. But I didn't want to wait. I made a copy and left it at the house - Came into work, called them and got the fax number - went to the fax machine and it was broke. Good thing DH at home - called him and had him to fax the copy I left at the house. They called me and I am scheduled for my pre-op on tomorrow 2/27 and surgery is 3/1. I will be in banded land real soon. I will be depending on you guys - I'm sure ya'll will come through. I'm off tomorrow and so I will take my pictures. I bought some new batteries for my camera, however; I placed them on the table and they are no longer there. Do you think the kids got them - they all are listening to their cd players now. :) Oh well, I'll just go get some more. I'm so glad they can do it so quick. I asked one of the other girls here and she said she pays a $20 co pay for her fills - her doctor was in network when she got the surgery done - but now he's not - she's not sure now how much it will be now - but if network doctor then should be just like a doctor visit.

Read about dinner tonight - I can't wait to be able to join you guys- I would come tonight, but since surgery is Thursday - I want to get the house in order before - cook up some food for DH and laundry and stuff - I will keep you guys posted.
