Looking for Dr. Spiegel patients
Bikergirl replied to Ryanband07's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my surgery by Dr. Spiegel (3/1/07), He was ok during my consultation. He came in before my surgery and talked to me. I have a follow-up tomorrow @ 1:30. I received a courtesy call today to remind me of appointment. They also advised no co-pay needed. I haven't had any major questions - most are answered on this website. -
Was Dr. Spiegel your surgeon? Was this your first fill from him. Have you tried calling back and speaking to someone else? I ask these qestoins because I was just banded by Dr. Spiegel on 3/1 and I would like to know if I really need to be caution of my fills and about asking questions before. "If I feel I'm to tight can I get a partial unfill?"

Are you guys eating fried chicken or baked chicken?

My DH cut his ciggs in half so he smoked less, now he's cigg free.:clap2:

:girl_hug: Ok I had surgery on 3/1 and today is 3/7......so that would make me.....6 or 7 days post op - do I count the day of surgery or the day after surgery since the day I had surgery was my surgery day and the day after is post - but post starts after surgery so it could also be considered the same day of surgery . Anyway, I had surgery on a Thursday so I plan to start all my next stages on that day - I will be on THICKER Liquids on Tomorrow. Can't wait - Liquids are starting to get BORING!! My kids field trip was short - We went to the Houston Livestock show and rodeo. I could never be a teacher. I don't have the patience. I have a dr's appt on tomorrow so I will be able to see how I'm doing. I will weigh weekly, I am wriiting down my food - I want to know what is working - I feel like if I write down what I eat then I can look back and say ok this week I ate this and lost 2 lbs or so, but this week I ate this and didn't loose anything. Time to eat what worked to loose. I am responsible for my weight loss. Not my husband, my kids, the fast food restaurants, me. I have the tool and it is in me, I have to use it. Good Luck to All March Bandsters

Checking in: I am 6 days post-op (surgery on 3/1/07). I am not hungry doing my liquid diet; however, I cooked for the kids yesterday and had to taste the food for flavor - I was like Clinton, "I chewed but didn't swallow". I was able to get the jest of the flavoring from chewing and make the adjustments. I don't know if this is cheating or not. I am getting ready to go to the Houston Livestock and Rodeo with my twins for there field trip. I don't think I will be able to drink to much before I go, Don't want to have to use the bathroom alot, being on only liquids. Well I will check in later.

The night before my surgery I went to the website with all the pictures - that was my motivation. Good Luck Gail

Do you think they are getting so many that they are overwhelmed with the claims. I'm glad they got your information. You will be moving to bandland real soon.
-
Court4short: Are there any other doctors in your area. I'm not sure what state you are in - but there are several doctors in my state (TX), some in network others out - I of course went with a doctor in network. I also choose him because all he does is lapband (no GB surgeries)

We will be opening the door for you @ 6am for you to come over to BANDLAND - Can't wait!!!

AM Check In: I am 5 days post-op. I am still tossing between slimfast shake, sugar free popsicles, water and broth. Want to make it a little less liquid - pour some of your water into a wine glass and drink it like white wine. Place your broth in a bowl and on top of a plate (like the restaurants do). Sit down with your broth and water and eat like you are at the finest restaurant in town. Also read on another thread that you cut your food up like you are feeding a toddler. If it is precut then you don't have to worry about if the size is to large.
-
I bought some Viactiv Multi-Vitamin flavor Glides Easy to Swallow (Berry Breeze flavor) 50 count. I have to cut them in 1/2 just to make sure - don't want nothing to get stuck and not taking any chances!!!
-
Karyn: I see you are 11 lbs from goal - that's great. I am going to plan to be at the meeting on 3/20. I don't know if Dr. Spiegel filled me during surgery. I guess I'll find out when I go to my appointment on Thursday. We are planning our camping trip, They are having weenie roast, breakfast tacos, fish fry, hamburgers. I told them that I will be able to only drink slimfast and creamy soups. I can't wait to go camping - to bad not 3rd week - could have had some baked fish, mashed potatoes, etc. Oh well, I will make sure I have my creamy soups, plenty of water, and my sugar free popsicles!!!! I will write down all my foods to keep track of my calories. Don't want to consume to many.

Since being on the liquid phase - slimfast have been helping me to feel full longer - maybe you can grab a few and you can grab one of those for breakfast. Good Luck with you weight loss challenge - Remember we are here for you!

supergenius: I'm so sorry you had a bad experience. Hope you feel better. Maybe a slimfast would have gone down a little better and gave you than "FULL" Feeling. I am so glad you shared this with me. I have to learn. You will be a goal in no time with those type of workouts. Good luck.

When I left the hospital they gave me a little tablet - It has Breakfast - lunch - dinner - excercise - other. I use it to write down all my food and activities. Maybe you can do that so that you can keep track on what works for you from week to week. If you see a weight loss one week but not the next, you can look back and see if you ate more or something different. You will know what foods you had a good weight loss on.

Momlambert: :welcomeB: , glad to have you. I just got banded on 3/1 so I'm still a newbie. But so far I'm doing great. I appreciate my band and want to do right by it so that I can achieve weight loss. Feel free to post with us anytime. You are right this thread was a life saver for me.

Tulips: I would submit to insurance anyway, only because you wouldn't have lost anything if they say no. I was so motivated to loose weight at the beggining of the year - walked 2 miles and haven't walked since. Bought a whole bunch of healthy food and over indulged myself in them (the healthy stuff) When I totalled up the calories I ate healthy - they were just as bad as the thick fattening foods. I am tho' glad that you are motivated to loose. I don't want to discourage you from doing it without the band. We will support you either way. But keep in mind that we are here for you....NO MATTER WHAT. We are going to hold you accountable. So to do this I am going to ask that you post every night. I want to know what you ate/amount/cal and what execercise you did. Knowing that you have to do this every day may keep you on track. I would like to request this of all our members to this thread. If I know that I have to post what I ate (good or bad) I will be a little more cautions on my selections. Yeah I could lie about it, but who will it hurt, you or ME!!

Good luck BandSTAR...This is going to be the best thing for your health.

Thank you so much - I am so glad I did this - I now can't wait to get in the gym so I can really see a different. I know We've all started the diet and lost weight and was working out and really saw a difference. Well now I can change my thoughts. I am not on a diet - I am changing my eating habits. My kids want cookies, fine - we will go out get a cookie or two and come home - that way the cookies are not in the home - I'm really thinking this stuff through this time - I refuse to be the devils template!!!

Hello March Bandsters: I was banded on March 1st. I am still on my liquid stage. I find that doing a lot of walking helps with the gas. My mom was down for the weekend, and I had to take my oldest daughter shopping. I walked so much. I didn't have to take but 2 gas x pills yesterday. I'm still struggling to get all my liquids in. My doctor request we drink 1-2 slimfast and drink 64 oz. of water. I'm not hungry. I'm considered to be a low BMI'er. I only have about 75 pounds to loose. Glad I can share my journey with other March bandsters.

Good Morning All: I thought I was going to go crazy during this stage (liquids only), but I'm doing ok. My DH came home last night with a burger from Burger King and I was ok. I didn't want it, especially when I smelt the onions on it. I tried to feed it to the dogs. I am now 4 days post op - I'm starting to prepare for my next week - Thicker liquids.

I'm doing great November Lily, Thanks for asking - I don't want to get gas so I've been walking around the house - doing minimal house work. My mom is here - so that helps a lot. I had a slimfast for breakfast, better than bouillon broth for lunch and I'll have a slimfast for dinner. My mother took the kids to mcdonalds and to the donut shop - When they came home I looked at it and felt nothing. I felt nothing - before the band I would have been all over those donuts. But I walked right by them like they weren't even there. I'm so proud of myself. Hope the feel last. I took my bandages off - still have my sterilstrips - I took a nice shower and washed my hair - It felt so good. My kids are very supportive also, they are always asking me if I need anything. But things are going good. Glad I did it!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
