Hello all March Bandsters - I was banded on March 1, 2007. I am feeling great - I've been up walking and not hungry at all. I think this is going to work. If you are banded in March I would love to keep in touch since we will all be in the same boat. Welcome all March bandsters.

I would like to know also - is it the way it comes out - the sound or what?

Minipearl: Congrats - I hope it is - Bandland is great - well.....OK I cheated :faint: - my band must be open all the way :girl_hug: - I started out tight and thought "CREAMIES HERE I COME" I started out with my slimfast - then I drunk some water - I went to my dr appt and afterwards I was starving - I came home to get me some creamy soup. But before I knew it I had "tasted" a whole brownie, a homemade crescent pizza roll, 15 green olives, another brownie, and then 1/2 a bowl of cream of chicken soup. After all that I drunk a bottle of water - I thought I was going to be able to beat the cravings - funny thing is.......I made sure I chewed everything until it was like a paste in my mouth and I haven't had any problems - Am I going to need an appetite suppresant? My doctor asked me how I was doing - at that time it was good - but tonight I have been bad - there goes 4 of those 14 lbs I lost.:cry :cry :cry

Life ROCKS.....and so does my BAND. -
I have UHC Choice Plus - they paid 100%, I was banded for $40, so far. Free Seminar, $20 co-pay for consultation, $20 co-pay for pre-op. I went to an appointment today which was a follow-up from my surgery and didn't have to pay anything. I think you should be ok - you should be able to go online to myuhc.com and get information on your insurance policy. Can't wait until you guys are banded.

Yeah - something like BANDED AND LOVING IT. -
iwill look in to it - I've started reading labels on boxes and buying the Reduced Fat products not just for me but also for the family. I may be the only one with the tool but the whole family will start eating healthy because I have to. I stopped buying the regular noodles and buy the wheat noodles - THEY COULDN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE.

I was the same way sugarbear - my 10 year old read my dischage papers and they say -Do not stay in bed all day - so the next day she said - Momma get up - my 8 year old said leave her alone - she said she told her momma is suppose to be up read this - she read and then they both said momma get up. Needless to say - I wasn't able to stay in bed, they had me up and walking around, which is a good thing - I started washing clothes - making 3-4 trips just to fill the washer (not lifting anything heavy). Just think of it as consuming less calories and burning them up - I was thinking wow - I'm not hungry if I move around I can burn some fat up - and It worked 14 pounds down.
-
They just told me in the hospital to drink slow - when I went to the Dr's today he advised we should be drinking slowly - but as much as we can - not like we use to - gulping and what not. I was told to drink - swallow wait 20 seconds and repeat. I just drink - I haven't had any problems - I do try to get my 64 oz. a day in.

Looking for Dr. Spiegel patients

A co-worker was at Dr. Spiegels office also today - she was getting a fill - There is some type of a new policy about the fills - but I didn't get to read it - I know she said something about with a unfill - you have to let them know within the first 3 days. If it is after 3 days then they do a complete unfill - I don't know why -again didn't read the paper - I don't know if it a new strategy or what - I will know on the 29th when I go for my first fill. I will read the paper and post info - If someone goes in before then please post us on what it says. -
Looking for Dr. Spiegel patients

I am hearing bad experiences about Dr. Spiegel also, however; I went to Dr. Spiegel's seminar and was informed, had my consultation and had no questions, he did my surgery, and I went back today for a follow up - He advised those that could stay, to stay a little and he would answer any questions. I had to leave to beat traffic to be here when kids came home from school. I haven't had any bad experiences with Dr. Spiegel or his staff. Good luck with your search. -
Well went to Dr. today - just a follow up to see how I was feeling - answer any questions - advised me to start counting my calories - So I am going to now make me out a schedule and menu - I want to be prepared daily to have what I need so I don't have to look for it. I go back in 3 weeks for my first fill. 3 weeks from today would be 3/29.

Any new information from pending approval - That number pamla68 should help some of you - you will need your reference number from your doctor. I made 2 calls to them. I don't think I would be banded right now if I didn't call them - because they approved it but forgot to send the letter.

I just got on the scale - today is a week - I'm down 14 pounds -:whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo:

That was another reason I wanted to wait until after the holidays - now I have a whole year to conquer those demons. I know I can do it - I will make sure that I have what I need to be successful - this is a life change - spring break is a week. I look at long term. -
BGB glad to see you on the board - haven't talked to you since I got banded - I know you had a lot going on. Glad to see your restriction kicked in - I have a follow appt today, I start my "Thicker" liquids today. Although I did cheat last night - My kids made pizzas with crescent rolls, and I actually had some - had no problems eating it either. I don't know if that is good or bad.

My insurance company paid for my surgery. I wasn't a selfpay. Per the selfpayers Dr. Ortiz is highly recommended. Babygotback used him. I looked at some of the scars on the scar stages pages and I have only 5 incisions and a lot of people have a lot more. They said my surgery was about 20 minutes. So I would say he is good. I was around and about the next day. Not a lot of gas. But I think you would come on cheaper out of the states, if you can do it.

I just got banded by Spiegel. Of course it is to early fora fill for me, however; I hope I don't have the same problem , and I'm sorry you are. Do you know how much you had in there before he filled you? And how much you have in there now. Does "he" feel like you are not loosing weight quick enough. Do you have to share a food diary or anything. I'm not saying he's right by no means - but just trying to find out what's the logic behind making a patient unsatisfied.
-
Congrats Glogirl Sounds like your are doing great. You already on thicker liquids - I had to do thin liquids for 1 week, today is my thicker liquids. then next Thursday I start on mushies. I have a follow up today (not a fill appt). Keep up the good work.
-
Sugarbear: I can tell all is better - less typo's. I felt the same way when I got home - I was still a little out of it - but felt I had to post something. I knew someone that knew I was having surgery on that day would be on and looking to see how I was doing - I'm glad things are better for you. My doctor told me I could take my meds with my Water that I have to drink. Just cut my pills in half and swallow - I usually take 1, take a few sips and then take the other. Keep up the good work - I am 1 week today -

That is correct it is a rerun - these women have had the GB surgery and they no longer can eat to comfort themselves so they have changed to drinking and sex. I think her name is Carney Phillips (from Wilson & Phillips). She will be on there also, she started drinking also. They say that alchol hits you much faster once you've had WLS. I think (my opinion) it may hit GB people a lot quicker because they don't have the full stomach like we still have with the band. I am still out from surgery on 3/1 - so I will be watching it again.

I could never do it alone - My DH, His brother and family, his sister and family and a cousin and family - about 8 adults and 8 kids. We are staying in cabins (2 families each). We are going to the grocery store and I've already told them I can only have slimfast, and CREAMY soups, they were very supportive about getting my type of food. Although I wish I would have waited to be banded because there menu is to die for......maybe it's a good thing I am banded. I can do this. I will not cheat.I will not cheat. I will not cheat. I will not cheat. I will not cheat. I will not cheat. -
