I see the train has came by and picked you up - glad you had a safe trip to bandland. Now there's a lot to get to know on this side so take it easy and soak it all in. We are so glad you are here. We've been waiting on you. Did you get any pictures of your surgery (barium swallow or placement of band)?

Reading these threads are what got me through my surgery and even now after being banded. You really seem to know what you want and you are on the right track to achieve it. Once you are in bandland you will be able to loose those 60+ pounds. You'll have more energy and you will feel better, for YOU!! Good Luck and we will send good vibes your way. Post when you are able to.

Hey Sue that's great, 18 lbs. down. If you don't mind me asking what was your weight at surgery, don't see you have a ticker.

I bought my slimfast and my daughter (10) asked to have one - I told her to put it in the freezer for about an hour and it would be just like a frozen milk shake. She really liked it. I'm going to try to pour it out of the can into a bowl with a top and freeze it and eat it like ice cream. I bought a new blender and your receipe sounds pretty good, think I'll give it a try!

I had trouble sleeping the first few days - but it does get better. Keep moving during the day and it will help with you sleeping at night - the muscles get worked during the day and the gas moves around or out and allows you to sleep at night. I'm now able to sleep on my sides. Good Luck.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I went to the b/a thread and saw Lisa -she looks good. She is on the next to the last page right now. I can't wait to loose. They say the Dr. that I used to have my surgery isn't a good aftercare Dr. I'm really not to worried about it. For some reason a lot of the patients are saying they are not feeling the restriction until later and then they need a slight unfill. I am so ready to be thin or at least back to my 11/12, that I can't wait. After the weight started going up I didn't really buy me to many clothes - I really didn't want to be this size and knew I would be successful with the band. I'm PMSing right now so that is hopefully contributing to it also. I will weigh in again on Thursday. I'm on mushies but I'm trying to keep them in moderations.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

OK, you guys have been busy on this thread. I got back yesterday but spent most of the day catching up on my march bandsters website, now I'm on this one - missed my internet connection. I'm doing great - gained 3 lbs, but starting mushie foods- 1st fill isn't until the 27th of March. Will post more later. Hope all are doing well.

    March 2007 Bandsters

Hello Everyone: This group is very large now. I was gone for 3 days and it took me so long to read and catch up - Glad everyone is doing fine. Today is the 1st day of my mushie stage. Next Thursday I'm on Solids. I called and made my appointment for my 1st fill (3-27-07). I drink up until I eat then 1 hour after. I ate at 10am yesterday and didn't eat again until 10:30pm. I wasn't hungry. I did drink and clean up. I was kindof glad I had no appetite yesterday. I weigh in today and I gained 4 lbs. That is ok. I know the reason I lost more weight was because I was on liquids only, as you add food - Thicker, solids - that is more calories. I plan to start an exercise plan to counteract the calories I'm intaking. Good Luck all you March Bandsters, I wouldn't change anything. My family & my husband family knows that I had the surgery. They are so use to me eating a lot of food, but when we went to dinner the other night I only had a very small piece of fish (started before mushie stage). They were like your full, I told them yes - they had several pieces of fish, fries, chicken, salad. Later that night my SIL asked me - so how does the band work - I explained - I think she called my MIL because she called me later and asked me about it also. I tried to explain - I'm not a big person now - 5'1, 195 @ surgery, I'm small framed - If you saw me you wouldn't think I needed it, but 3 months ago I weighed around 140 lbs. I eat when no one is around. I would stop and get something to eat on the way home and then eat when I got home also. I was on my way up and I wanted to prevent the weight gain before I started having real problems, (no offense) but I didn't want to wait until I was 250-300 lbs before the surgery. I am so glad I did this!!!

My doctor doesn't even fill the band until after swelling has gone down. I'm sorry you had that problem - without a fill I felt restriction. Maybe she shouldn't have filled you until some of your swelling went down to begin with. Glad you are doing better.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Hello everyone: I've gotten better with my eating - I'm still on my creamy liquids stage. I had some potatoe soup w/ garlic and herb sauce. It was very tasty - I only ate the small pieces of potatoes. The larger ones I spit out and gave to the dog. I read the reason why we shouldn't eat food during this stage and I also read that the damaged doesn't show up right away. I'm not to scared because I made sure that I chewed the food I ate very well and I was drinking when I was eating it. The reason they don't want us to eat and drink is because the food is so mushy that if you drink also it washes it straight through the stoma in to the stomach and you don't get the full feel. I did just that ate a little bit then, drunk some water, ate some more then more water. I can't afford to be without this band. I have gone back to creamy soups - I am trying to do right.

    March 2007 Bandsters

I will be out of the loop for a little (3 days)- not sure if I will have internet access. I will be taking my laptop with me. Some of you know, but for those who don't...WE ARE GOING CAMPING. Some of you may know the Yogi Bear Park, there is one in Waller, TX and we are taking the kids for Spring Break. The Weather is suppose to be bad though, 80% chance of rain Monday, 70% on Tuesday, and 50% on Wednesday. So we are bringing the board games. For all the bandsters on Monday (12th), Tuesday (13th) and Wednesday (14th)...GOOD LUCK! I hope I can post. My family knows that I'm banded so that helps out - they made sure that I had what I can eat...But I already have it all. I'm glad to see all are doing well.

    March 2007 Bandsters

This thread moves quick on the weekends - I left to go to the store with a post pending - came back and you guys are already on another page.
  17. My band was sutured to my stomach - they take a small piece from each side and suture it around the band (in a small area)- this keeps it from slipping - it is pretty standard - you can't tell that it is done. you don't feel it!

Tammyj: I some how feel like this is my journal (posting). I could write it all down and show it to only me, or I could post so all can see. For we all have failed, but I am willing to admit it to all and then start over instead of repeating myself. Not only that - others have expressed there failure as well - we are not "cured" with the band - we are "epuipped" with the band. I hope the binge I went on yesterday will be considered and others will be able to learn from my mistake - I did great the first week. But food is our friend and because I didn't pb or slim, I thought it was ok, but it wasn't - I have to count my calories and stay on the correct stages.

Supergenius818 Ive been using the sparkpeople.com to keep track of my calories - this is pretty neat. I'm doing good in all areas. I'm still shy on some water, so I'm going to try to focus on that now. Glad I'm back on track.

I have been very good today (could have had more water by now), however; I will get it in...I had a slimfast, sugar free popsicle, and a can of cream of mushroom soup. I am very full now - Think I'll take a nap before the kids get home from school.

    March 2007 Bandsters

Hello Everyone: Doing much better to day - had a slim fast for breakfast and a sugar free popsicle - 1 bottle of water (so far) and now reading and eating/sipping cream of mushroom soup. I know I should be eating and only eating, but the I got the soup really hot so I have to blow - wait a few (read) then get another bite. I should be ok.
  22. Again - when my co worker got there they gave her some papers. I wish now I would have read them before I left - but Barbara465 you should get the same papers. Just post what they say so we will know before. There is also so information on fills so that you can be prepared before going on another site - like eating, drinking, beint TOM, etc. They say these all play factors in your fill - Some have reported of not feeling any restriction for 2 weeks. I don't know. I picked Dr. Spiegel because of his surgery skills and not his aftercare. I felt like I could deal with those later. I can be rude right back if I have to (hopefully it won't get that way!!).

    March 2007 Bandsters

Good Morning All: I didn't have a good day yesterday - I was bad - I posted on another thread and you can find it and read if you like - however - I don't want to re-post because I don't want ANYONE to think "Well if she can do it I can to" NO, what I did was wrong and that is the reason I got the band - I hope I didnt sabbatoge my weight loss. I have put yesterday in my past and will focus on my creamy liquid stage.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Today is a new day - and I will follow my banding rules - I plan to stay out of the kitchen as much as possible - I have my soup on the counter that I will eat - my water and slim fast are in the fridge. I will be ok today - I have 3 1/2 days before we leave for camping (leaving Monday @ 1pm). I think it flowed right thru because I chewed it very well and I was drinking while eating. Supergenius818 thanks for the information and the words of encouragement.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

This has to be normal - maybe we are just brave enough to post it. I plan to be good tomorrow. I hope I can do it - I have 3 weeks before a fill - I may call the office and tell them - but I didn't get this band to have to still pop pills - I may use all my OTC appetite suppresants that I have to get rid of them - maybe they will work since I have a smaller pouch. I have these pills called Accelis that you are suppose to take at night and they are suppose to help burn fat while you sleep. We'll see!!!:notagree :notagree
