  1. Just hang in there ... it will come off! There is a lot of information on stalls out here & it sounds like you are the perfect timing for one of those (I think mine is coming soon since I'm slowing down a lot on the weightloss). But for every story of a stall, I see a success story of breaking it. We'll be here waiting for your hurrah!
  2. I'm on purees right now and still trying to find the right place to stop eating. It seems like I go from OK to Stuffed in one bite. I'm trying to eat slowly and thoughfully. Any advice?

    Yum!!

I went to an antique store and bought various china butter plates and finger tip bowls to use for meals. It makes my meals feel a little more "special" than just an everyday plate. I also picked up cocktail spoons and forks at World Market. They are great for helping you slow down and eat.

    Portion Size

Tiffy has a great point. I have a collapsable 1/4 measuring cup that I keep in my purse. It was a gift a friend (who had WLS) gave me the moment she heard I was scheduled. I use it when we are out, wrap in a napkin, and clean when I get home.

    Yum!!

Thanks ... heading out there to look now.

    New Here

Welcome to the group. We have quite a few people who have had surgery with Kaiser so I'm sure they will chime in soon. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Yes, but the dip I like with them unfortunately insn't approved. :laugh0:

    Me and water. Why?

You need to come with a warning label. I don't think falling on the floor laughing is good for a newly sleeved person. You crack me up! :laugh0:

    Portion Size

We are very close in surgery dates. I was told that at this point I should be between 1/4 and 1/2 cup. I can no way do 1/2 cup of refried Beans, but I did do 1/3 of a cup. I felt a bit too full afterwards, so I've cut back to pretty much 1/4 cup on anything substantial. (I do 1/3 to 1/2 cup of liquids though.) And, don't worry too much about the staple line - I am sure things are ok. Hope that helps.
  10. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone. The last few meals, I have measured out what I "should" be eating and then pulled back about a teaspoon or so. By doing this, I haven't had any of the shoulder blade pain that I described before. :laugh0: Doing my happy dance!

    Me and water. Why?

Unless you are doing something very detrimental to your health, I don't think any of us have the right to lecture one another on what they choose to do. Isn't that why we picked this surgery - the additional freedom of food choices, etc. Personally, if you need a sip here and there to help you eat, I say go for it. If you can avoid it, all the better. But, I would rather have anyone eating healthy Protein with a small sip than eating unhealthy slider foods that don't require Water. As Tiff says *Stepping off my soapbox now :laugh0:*

    VSG & Chest/Sinus cold/infections

Wow! So sorry to hear you are going through this. Never, in my wildest dreams would I have thought about drainage causing those issues. Take care & feel better soon.

    Monday Morning Weigh In

Sounds like you are having an awesome day. Yeh!
  14. Best of luck Sarah. Welcome to the Loser's Group!
  15. I agree with Tiff - don't give up. You can do this. I dropped a lot my first week & it has definitely slowed down for me. Not knowing your height, I can't tell your BMI or how much you need to lose. It could just be that your body is holding on to all it has as it works through the shock this surgery has done to you. You can and WILL succeed at this.

    Tell me this lasts!!!

Nice to hear from you Luck. It's good to have another vetrain out here - especially one with 3 years experience. Any and all advice is appreciated!

    Surgery Feb 17th !!!!!!

How exciting for you. I was sleeved 3 weeks ago & I know what you mean about being a little scared and excited all at the same time. Keep us updated on your progress. Don't forget to take it slow the first few days - sip, walk, and rest!

    Advice for Road Trip

We are making a giant loop from Seattle, to Grand Canyon, to Las Vegas, and back to Seattle. I think there are 10 cars in our group. In Vegas there are usually 500-600 MINI owners. We all drive down the strip on Friday night (3/26) & it is a blast!

    Advice for Road Trip

Thanks! Any recommendations for protein bars?
  20. I told my 8 year old that I was having tummy surgery. I told him that it was too big and they were going to fix it to make it like everybody elses. He was a bit concerned & didn't want me to leave (I had surgery out of state), but he did really well. I talked to him while I was gone and he wanted to know if my tummy was doing better yet. The funny part is that he someone thought that once my tummy was smaller that I would come home skinny. I was a big disappointed to him when I returned and looked the same.
  21. Congratulations on your date. Keep us posted.
  22. Just reading that made me hungry for the first time since surgery. I will have to try that in a few weeks. YUMMY!

    Sugar free ice cream

That is so awesome. You definitely have a keeper. That was very sweet, BUT but sugar free. (OK, I like to pretend that I am funny. But, I know I'm not! )

    I have a date!!!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your date. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. I'm still new so I may not have all the answers, but I'm sure the long-time-sleevers will be able to help.
  25. After seeing how little I could eat at our Valentine's dinner last night, my husband agreed that we should start sharing dinners. He does not need to lose weight, but agreed that he does not need the "extra large" portions either. Should be fun when we are in the mood for different things!
