Bad experience with Cod
MINI-Me replied to MINI-Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The puzzle is starting to reveal itself ... it may be a stomach bug. My husband is having some issues and my youngest son was sent home early from school with tummy issues. My stomach has been a bit upset today as well. I can't believe I'm hoping for a stomach bug!!! -
Bad experience with Cod
MINI-Me replied to MINI-Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmmm ... I must be honest and say that I've had a few french fries and no issues. I guess it could have been the deep fryer, but the fish didn't seem oily at all. Lesson learned - it will be a while before I try THAT again! -
Did anyone buy skinny clothes before they lost?
MINI-Me replied to Stacie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Did anyone buy skinny clothes before they lost?
MINI-Me replied to Stacie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have an outfit that I bought about 15 years ago when I was at my lowest adult weight. It's a slim 10. I have almost tossed it out several times over the past years, but never could bring myself to part with it. After reading this post, I think I'm going to iron it & hang it in a prominent place in my closet. That way I can look at it & remind myself that one day I will wear it again and maybe one day it will be too big. -
Is chewing gum a problem after sleeve?
MINI-Me replied to Grateful Heart's topic in Food and Nutrition
I haven't had any problems with gum chewing. -
Unjury Unflavored Protein
MINI-Me replied to excited2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had a terrible time finding Protein powder that I can get down. I hate the smell, taste, texture, etc. I have found that Any whey (I purchase mine from Amazon at [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Optimum-Nutrition-Instantized-Protein-2-7-Pound/dp/B000GIUQOG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1267113994&sr=8-1]Amazon.com: Optimum Nutrition 100% Any Whey Instantized Whey Protein, 2.7-Pound Tub: Health & Personal Care[/ame]) is good - especially mixed with Carbmaster's Yogurt. I mix 1/2 scoop to 1 container for 20 grams of protein. -
Bad experience with Cod
MINI-Me replied to MINI-Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was very odd ... I don't feel like I ate it any differently than anything else I have tried. Maybe I will just stay away from fish for a while and try again in a few week.s Ewwwwww is right! -
Bad experience with Cod
MINI-Me replied to MINI-Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was battered and deep fried. But I removed all the batter and just ate the flaky fish inside. -
I love it!!!!

I haven't had any issues except with eggs. I got nauseous and light headed when I first tried them. Otherwise, everything else seems to be doing well - just get very full very fast.

Had my pre-op appt. today...
MINI-Me replied to LyndaRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would talk to your doctor about the carbs - that seems very high to me. Just remember the difference between clear and full liquids isn't that huge. My surgeon had me on clears for only 2 days and full after that. Staying on clears may become a bit bland & I've found it hard to find Protein in "clear" that I could gag down. I'm sure others will have suggestions. But, when in doubt, I've learned to call & ask my surgeon. So exciting that you are so close!!!! -

Changing eating habits....
MINI-Me replied to SParkle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Another great trick is using "cocktail" utensils. They are very small and force you to eat a little slower since the fork tines and spoon size are smaller. Good luck! -
Welcome to the forum. Glad you introduced yourself. I'm still a newbie at 4 weeks out, but feel free to post any questions you may have.

pre op appt 03-02-10
MINI-Me replied to trippsmommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op was pretty quick. He did a review of my labs/history - asked me a few questions about conditions. Then, he did a physical exam - including checking my blood pressure and weight himself. We talked through any of my last minute questions. That was about it. I think it was about an hour total. Good luck! -
I was 68 pounds past my ideal weight. Like those above, I have yo-yo'd all my life. I come from a family of morbidly abese people. My father passed away last year from obesity related issues. While I still miss him every day, that was a wake-up call for me. While I was the "smallest" of my family members, I was still obese. I had the surgery 4 weeks ago and have already lost more than 21 lbs (30% of what I wanted to lose)!!!!! This surgery has surely saved my life and gave me many more years to live for my husband, kids, and future grandchildren. For me, it was THE answer.

Is my bougie size too big?
MINI-Me replied to HEARTONMYSLEEVE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 36 and my restriction is great 2 ounces of meat and a little room for a bite or two of vegetables. My surgeon thought the 36 was the best to avoid contriction issues. Another item people don't realize is that the boughie is just a guide. If the surgeon uses a 32, but doesn't staple up close, it may not as small as surgeons using a 34/36, but stapling up close. It's all about technique and surgeon preferences. I wouldn't stress too much about the boughie size. If you trust your surgeon and he has good results with his patients, you should do GREAT! -
Am I the only one wanting sweet liquids???
MINI-Me replied to MINI-Me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just started a Vitamin D regimen myself. One of the benefits of the pre-op testing. But, I love my sweet foods! -
I'm sorry to hear this. But, I agree with your daughter - it's good that your condition was learned before the surgery, not on the operating table. Best of luck getting the block resolved - hopefully it's a quick procedure and it only puts your surgery date out a few weeks.

I had a "pain ball" - it was a little ball with pain meds that were delivered via catheter. The ball was held in a little sling. (The doctor removed it a few days later - no pain at all with it coming out.) It did a good job on monitoring the pain except for at my larger incision site - but I had another pain medicine to take that helped with that. For me, the pain was more than I anticipated. But, that was because I didn't anticipate any. But looking back, the first was the worst & each day was a bit better. My surgery was on a Wednesday and by Saturday evening, I was feeling much more like myself.
