  1. The surgeon definitely needs to know how his patients are being treated. If he doesn't seem concerned, find another doctor!
  2. Doing good here. Busy losing weight and planning our road trip. Would love to see you when you are up here this summer!

  3. I cannot wait to get this butt into an 8 (or 12, 10 even). GREAT WORK!!!!

    Today is THE day!

You are probably post-op by now. Let us know how things went for you.

    why am I hungry?

Snacks aren't "allowed" on my plan either, but my nutritionist mentioned that if I wanted something, to find a low-carb, high Protein item to try. I've been using string cheese to fit that bill (since I cannot tolerate another protein shake!!!) Not only does it keep me satisfied it helps to make sure I add more protein to my diet. From what I've heard, acid reflux doesn't feel the same post-op as it did pre-op. Many people complain of hunger just to find that they need an acid reducer or to increase their dosage. As others have noted above, check with your doctor - you shouldn't have to worry about all this stuff right now. You are too busy healing and enjoying your smaller selves.

    A little aggravated

Always feel free to vent ... we are all in this together.

    Pills

My pills were small so I was able to take them from day 1. I believe Tiffy's doctor said anything smaller than a regular M&M was fine. But since everyone is different, contact your doctor to be sure.

    Preop diet started today

There is a slight chance of open surgery for everyone. I had to sign a statement saying that I understood that risk, but my surgeon said it was highly unlikely and usually under high risk cases. Talk to your surgeon about your gallbladder surgery and what you might be able to expect.

    I've Been Sleeved!

I'm glad you are doing so well. Just remember not to push it - walk, sip, and REST!
  10. At 6 weeks I am at 26.8 pounds down since surgery. There are so many things that can contribute to loss (or little loss) - TOM, stress, how much you have to lose. Your doctor knows you, if he says you are on track, don't sweat it. 24 pounds is HUGE (excuse the pun) ... you are doing it!!!! Another thing - did you take pre-surgery measurements? I bet you would be surprised at how many inches you've lost in 30 days.

    Update my goal

You are doing AWESOME! Can't wait to hear how your 6-month appoitment goes.

    My Username says it all!

Kara - other than a sleeve, how many other WLS has he performed? The sleeve is often stage 1 of DS. So, if he has experience with that, he has more sleeve experience. Good luck - let us know how we can support you.

    Chicken

I have only tried chicken when it's been in lots of sauce & only a few times at that. I have heard the chicken cooked in the crockpot is a bit easier since it is much more moist that way. I'm concerned about trying nuts, chicken, steak, and raw veggies at this point - so I am putting them off at least another month or so. Hopefully some "experienced" sleevers can chime in.

    Plateau...

Can't really add more to what Tiff said. I think stalls are just part of the deal. Our bodies go "Whoa - what have you done to me?". I did want to say WOW about your weightloss to date. AWESOME job!

  17. Today's the day, today's the day!!! ... looking forward to hearing your experience.
  18. I am just about 6 weeks out ... I too was a grazer. I thought about food A LOT. In some ways, I still do on the losing phase. I think about how to get in my Protein, Water, etc. It really is hard to understand, but I don't crave food at all. When I do, a bite or two does the trick. I do incorporate a few Snacks in my diet. String cheese in the afternoon is great - low calorie and add protein. I agree working with a nutritionist or pysch is important. If those aren't available, use an on-line tool like myfitnesspal.com - put everything that crosses your lips into the tool. It REALLY helps.
