  1. Boy! Did I notice a change. Would be glad to participate.
  2. I don't think it is bad ... lots of room for liquids to go down.
  3. Sounds like you have a good plan in place. Enjoy exploring the city.

My Protein Shake Brings All The Boys To The Yard..lol!

I hated EVERY single protein shake I tried. I spent so much money & felt miserable. I finally found UNJURY Chicken Soup which appealed to my salty cravings and added Any Whey Protein (I ordered mine through Amazon) to Carbmaster Yogurt. But a shake, kill me now!!!!!! I know it's hard, but the liquid protein is a very short period - soon you will be getting your protein from real foods & never have to have another protein supplement unless you truly find one you enjoy.

    Im Feeling So Disappointed...

If you can lose the scale, GREAT! However, I know the best advice is to lose the scale, but I just never could. I had to remind myself that the scale fluctuates because my body holds fluids some days and other days I have a good poop! Somedays I believed the self-talk and other days I wanted to throw the scale out the window!!!! But, you are definitely doing great & your body is adjusting a lot in weeks 2 and 3. As another poster said, you are going to look back and go "wow, it really came off quick". It's just hard to believe it when the scale doesn't move.
  6. I would think the ground beef (just a little), cheese and refried Beans (maybe add a little sour cream to help it go down) would be ok for Mexican at one month out. But, what does your plan say you should be eating at this point? Everyone is so different with what works for them at certain points and surgeons are all over the board with what they will allow. At 5 weeks, I was able to eat some meat, but mostly Soups and very smooth fruits and veggies. Have fun!

    The Basics Boot Camp

I'm sorry, I'm just not following this statement. Is there really a woman (or man) that can avoid wanting/eating MORE chocolate? :blush5:

    Any Low Bmi Folks Here?

My BMI was just below 33. If you look at my profile, you can see my loss per month. Sometimes it felt slow, but looking back, I lost an incredible % in a relatively short amount of time. I really don't know if BMI is a factor in speed, I think bodies just react differently. (<-- So frustrating not to have a one size, fits all package!)
  10. Mine was outpatient. I was in the surgery center for about 6 hours after being wheeled out of the operating room. Loved not having to stay the night in a hospital.
  11. Congrats on your surgery. Another option for sleeping is a recliner. If you have one, have someone help you get in and lay it back. Position pillows to get you comfortable. Made a world of difference for me!

    Tummy Tuck...have You Had One?

You might be surprised to find that what you think is fat is really just a lot of loose skin. I checked into just liposuction and they laughed at me. They told that what I thought was fat was just a lot of skin! Definitely helped my ego. But, made me want a TT even more! Just have to come up with the funds & about 2 weeks of vacation time. Of course, the little one was a much better choice right now. Can't believe I've had him for 3 months now. Love being a thin mom with the energy he needs and deserves.

    Tummy Tuck...have You Had One?

sorry guys ... I lost track of this thread & never gave information. Here is the surgeon I talked with. I REALLY liked him - felt comfortable from the very first moment we talked. http://www.drwindle.com/
  15. Definitely do not go with a surgeon that will not listen to you. Of course, he can explain his reasons and refuse a certain surgery based on his medical background and experiences. But, don't let anyone force you into a surgery you don't want. My surgeon said that based on my BMI, I was an ideal candidate for a band. When I explained my reasons for not having a band, and wanting VSG, he listened and agreed that the sleeve was the best option for me. Just be willing to have a frank discussion and feel free to move on if you and the doctor do not see "band to sleeve".
  16. 3 pounds gone ... 7 to go. Wahoo!!!!!

    Using Straws

My Nutritionist said no, but I was given them in the hospital. The nurses said the theory of getting in more air was ridiculous. My doctor wasn't overly concerned one way or another as long as I drank and was comfortable. I have used straws literally since the first hour and it's almost been 2 years for me.

    Affordable Surgery In U.s.

I paid just over $10K with Medical Tourism and Dr. Thomas Umbach in Las Vegas. Of course, that was 2 years ago, but it's worth a look.
  19. This seems in line to me. The cottage cheese is probably allowing for some "slide". Same for the potatos and corn. If you are within your calorie range, still feel resriction, and losing weight, don't worry about it.

    So Very Full

You sound about right to me. If you aren't feeling pain and not throwing up or foaming, you are doing well. Just be sure to measure beforehand and measure what's left afterwards to keep track of what you are actually consuming. Also - be sure to chew, chew, chew. How big are your spoonfuls? Are we talking baby spoons or regular kitchen spoons. If kitchen, you are doing very well for just a few weeks out.
  21. I hated almost all the Protein shakes & was so happy when I got to solids and could get protein from "real food". What got me through was unjury chicken Soup and Any whey unflavored protein (I got it from Amazon). I added the unflavored to Swiss Miss Diet Cocoa and it got me through. Just make sure that when you use Protein Powder that your Water does not get too hot. Otherwise the protein powder curdles and it is DISGUSTING!!!!! Best of luck to you.

    Sweets

I think it's up to interpretation and how far out you are from surgery. I definitely overdid the sweets this holiday season & need to work off a few pounds. BUT, if you are careful and limit the intake (easier said than done, I know!) ... you can still indulge every now and then. That was the one reason this surgery appealed to me so much. After healing and weight loss, you can eat like a thin person - they indulge occaisionally. Up until the past holiday, I incorporated sweets into my meal plans - and it worked. Just keep note of the meal "plan" and don't let sweets come in for unplanned snacking. Good luck!

    Soda

You really should follow your doctor's instruction. But, I decided that for me, I wanted to try it. I have been drinking diet soda since 3 months out & not having any problems. I use it to give me a sweet treat & an alternative to snacking. It doesn't cause any apparent issues with my sleeve and does not cause me to crave more sweets. I'm very luck in that since I hate coffee & need my caffeine fix in some form.
  24. I am just shy of 2 years. If it's Protein, about 4 ounces of meat and a few bites of a side dish. I can eat about 1.5 slices of pizza. I found that it seems to go through faster than right after surgery. I used to eat about every three hours. Now, I'm not really hungry, but I find myself wanting to snack 1.5 hours later. Need to keep busy to keep the head hunger at bay. If it's popcorn, well, that goes down WAY TOO EASY ... I can eat about a movie small - so bring someone with you to help eat it before you eat it all! Hope that helps.
