    New and different case

Hmmm ... not sure what to say ...What is your BMI? If you aren't 30+, I would be surprised if any doctor would perform this surgery on you. I saw your other post about bogus surgery. While I was not sleeved in Mexico, I know a lot of people on here were. They definitely KNOW they had surgery & their restriction shows it. Sounds like you have a lot of questions - how much have you researched this surgery? It is MAJOR surgery and you need to know what you are getting into. I hope I don't come across as "preachy", but this is not a miracle cure - there is a lot of work and sacrifice that goes along with this tool. If we can help you in your research, just let us know.

    boughie

It is a tube they place down your throat & into your stomach to help guide the size of your stomach. Here is a great link for more information on size. http://verticalsleevetalk.com/general-sleeve-surgery-discussion/2947-boughie-size-comparison.html

    Less than one week

I am very excited for you. I did my surgery outpatient as well - I liked not having to sleep in a hospital bed & room for a night. You've been given some good advice above. Just keep repeating the mantra - "Sleep, Rest, Sip" and throw some medication in there when needed.

    It's a FAT day...

Thanks everyone. You guys are such a great help. I told anna that I talked to my husband last night. While he really doesn't understand why I want to eat when I'm sad/upset, he was really supportive. Have I mentioned that he's fit and trim no matter what he eats?!??!? It's great to have him and you guys (who can really relate to my emotions and reactions). THANK YOU!
  6. Thank you. So far, so good. Yesterday was really rough. I ended up talking to my husband last night & confessing my little eating spree. He was very sweet and supportive. Just can't let this stall (or future ones) get to me like it did yesterday.

    I really appreciate your support!

    Dreamfields?

No - I had about 1 oz the other night & was full the rest of the evening. Didn't even eat my planned snack. Hmmmm....
  8. Absolutely wonderful Tiffykins. You are an inspiration. I especially appreciated this today. Thank you!

    It's a FAT day...

Thanks ... I really appreciate your encouragement.
  10. Unfortunately, I had more pain than the people above. The good news is that it didn't last long. Here's a post I made a week after my surgery ... http://verticalsleevetalk.com/post-operation-vertical-sleeve-gastric-surgery-vsg-questions-answers/3493-surgery-recovery-sucks.html
  11. In the spirit of TMI  ... When my son was a newborn, he was constipated. The doctor had me mix in 2 teaspoons of Karo Corn Syrup into his bottle. Without getting too graphic, let's just say the next day his bowels "let go". Maybe that would help.
  12. Stacey - don't panic, you are probably retaining fluids from the surgery. You will see a large "whooosh" soon.

    14 Weeks out

AWESOME. Just look at the BMI ticker going down. You've dropped 9.2 BMI points. WOW!!!! :redface1:

    Drinks

Totally agree ... well, maybe not the exploding part! But, you do need to give your tummy time to heal. This past Sunday (2 days prior to 3 months) I had my first Pepsi Max. It took 4 hours to finish, but it was soooooo delicious. :redface1: Prior to that time, I had a few sips here & there, but it didn't taste that good to me. Just give it time.
  15. My weight loss has slowed as well. For the last 2 weeks, I've dropped only 2 pounds & I watch the scale go up and down every few days. My head knows that this too shall pass, but it's hard to feel motivated when you've been used to the scale going down week after week. Because I hate exercising, that little voice inside my head keeps saying - the weightloss stopped when you started exercising. Irrational, I know, but that little voice is terribly loud sometimes. I think I'm going to add 100 or so calories of Protein in for the next few days and see what that does. Good luck everyone - this new tummy takes some getting used to!

What are you doing to get moving today?

Tiff - Life can really get in the way sometimes, can't it? wannalise/lee - great attitude and plans. Good going! As for me - I've done cardio Monday and Tuesday. Will probably do the weights for arms and thighs tonight and cardio tomorrow night. I might actually get my whole plan in this week. Wouldn't that be amazing???

    New to chat forums

Hello and welcome. Sounds like you are on the right time schedule with nerves setting in. We've all been there. Where are you having surgery? Are you on a pre-op eating plan? Pointers: 1) Take it one day at a time. Allow yourself time to heal & time to focus on you. 2) Have allowed foods and beverages purchased and ready for when you come home 3) Realize that this is major surgery - You may wake up with no pain or more pain that you expected. Take it in stride and ask for help when/if you need it. 4) sleep, sip, walk. Then repeat. 5) Be ready for a brand new life and a brand new you. We are saving a spot on the Loser's bench for you!!!

    COLD water?

I think everyone is a little different. I found warm beverages (like decaf tea) were the best right after surgrey. 3 months out, I can do cold or warm.
  23. Approximately how much salsa for x pounds of meat? I'm always looking for new ways to make the most of my Protein. Thanks!
  24. I am also allowed popcorn, but not sure how much I will allow myself due to the carbs. Darn those carbs!
