Post-Op: When did you have your first carbonated drink?
MINI-Me posted a topic in Food and Nutrition
So, Pepsi Max and I were best friends pre-surgery. I weaned myself off and have done fairly well without my friendship. However, now that I have added in all other foods, I'm obesessing about Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Max. I'd really like to try one, but don't want to hurt myself. (In fact, I'd like to try it and find that it isn't as good as I remember!) So ... my question is - when did you try your first one? -
Fantastic ... I remember crying when I realized I needed to shop Plus Size and I cried when I realized they were too big for me. (I guess I cry a lot! :001_tongue:)
-
Maybe I am doing the math wrong, but I think you mean 100 minutes so that would be 10 points. If you are really working towards 100 points, I am REALLY impressed! :001_tongue: You go girl!

You can always appeal after the fact - just be prepared to pay if they deny. In fact, your surgeon may require the cost of the sleeve upfront since you are currently denied, but who knows. It never hurts to ask ...

Just a little advice.

I am still taking mine, but this article just might make me re-think it ... I'll discuss with my doctor at the 6 month mark: Proton pump inhibitors can lead to higher risk of bone fractures, studies show - chicagotribune.com -
Question about first day home
MINI-Me replied to big_kahuna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree ... you can do it on your own, but having someone with you really helps. I would suggest keeping Water bottles and allowable foods within close reach so that you don't have to move more than you need to (remember - you still need to rest, sip, walk). If you have a recliner, it really does help with getting up and down. If you are going to be alone, but sure to have a writing pad by your medicines - you will need to keep close tabs on when you took your medicines. You don't want to over- or under-dose while you are resting/napping. -
Since everyone on here knows how much I love exercise (NOT!) and that I'm gradually working my way up, I will pledge 8 points for 80 minutes of exercise this week. It's a small start, but it's a start. Going for 20+ minutes tonight after work. (Meeting was scheduled during my lunch hour so unable to walk at lunch today.)

I don't know the weight, but my surgeon said it was like going from the size of a football to the size of a small/medium banana.

First of all, thanks for telling your story and posting. As for your surgery ... Any option for the doctor to submit charges for the removal of the lap band to the insurance and you pay for the sleeve portion? That should help some on the cost.

Need size 10/12 shorts, capris or t-shirts
MINI-Me posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
After seeing SammieTeacher's post, I thought I would post something similiar. I am heading back East in July to visit my Mom. Virginia summer's are notorius for hot humidity. I figure by then I will be in a size 10 or small 12. Anyone have any shorts, capris or t-shirts that they need to clear out of their closets? I would be glad to reimburse the shipping costs. Thanks! -
Due to another exercise thread, I am starting this thread for accountability. Sometimes just the act of writing something downs helps to make sure it gets done. I hope you will join me in this effort. Everyone's exercise plan is different, so don't feel pressure to go overboard or compare yourself to others. Feel free to jot down anything that will help you make your goals ... and post back regularly to tell yourself (and others) how you are doing.

Cool idea! I have been doing pretty well at keeping my goals. I love new motivation ideas! This week Monday - taking the day off Tuesday - Walk 20 minutes at lunch Wednesday - Walk 20 minutes at lunch Thursday - Walk 20 minutes at lunch Friday - Walk 20 minutes at lunch Saturday - A LOT of walking at the car show. (I love looking at classic cars & showing off mine!) Sunday - day of rest!!!!

I need size 16 clothes!
MINI-Me replied to SamieTeacher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have several pair of shorts in that size and a few summer tops. I also have some nice dress pants in size 14 ... you might be needing them soon. Send me a PM if you are interested. -
I wrote this earlier today. I guess I'm not doing as well as I was trying to sound. I'm having a horrible day. I have that "fat, bloated feeling" that I was so used to living before surgery. So, I came home, put on some huge pants and t-shirt. And, then I proceeded to eat M&Ms and Sour patch Kids. What the #^&@#@$$ is wrong with me???? I'm not sure what I'm asking for or if I'm asking for anything. But jeez! Is this how to spend the start of week 13??? I feel like curling into a ball and bawling my eyes out.

Thanks guys. It's crazy how tied we get to that scale ... but today is definitely a good day!!!!!

The stall broke ... Down today. 23 pounds to go. Yahoo!!!!

I went back to Vegas for a fun trip (as opposed to surgery) in late March. I checked with my surgeon and he was fine with a few glasses of wine while I was gone. I did push it a bit and had a couple of screwdrivers. It hit me fast and hard. From 0 to 60 almost immediately. But, it didn't last as long. For some reason, I can drink the mixed drinks (esp. with OJ) a lot faster. I have a glass of wine here and there since, but make sure to count it in my 800 calories per day so that I don't overdue it. Let us know how it goes for you.

Need a little nudge or motivation or encouragment ? ? ?
MINI-Me replied to Tiffykins's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I love it, love it, love it!!!! -
Well, you asked the golden question. The answer depends on who you ask. Many people count a carb as a carb. Some don't count the fiber because it's insoluble and passes right through you. Others don't count fiber or sugar alcohols. The last one is tricky because for some sugar alcohols cause a sugar spike like sugar and for others there is no spike - meaning no trigger for wanting more carbs. Personally, I delete the fiber and sugar alcohols. I did just have a stall, but since I have been doing this all along, I really don't think that caused the stall. Like everything else, I believe you just have to experiment and find what works for you.
-
The stall has finally broken!!! Took 14 days, but I finally dropped 2 pounds today. I am 3.8 pounds away from my first goal. 23.8 until that ticker shows that I made it to my lowest goal. Thanks for all the support. It was a TOUGH 14 days.

Hang in there ... you will turn a MAJOR corner in a day or two. I'll bet you will feel much more like yourself by the end of the weekend. :001_smile:

That is terrific - congratulations. You are going to be one hot woman on the beach this year! -
Congratulations and welcome to the site. I was sleeved in January and I read and re-read the forums December up until the date of my surgery. It really does help to talk with people who truely understand what you are going through. Feel free to post any questions (fears, anxiety) you may have.
