    I'm here!!!

Congratulations. Just remember, it's sorta like having a baby - you will forget the pain when you see that scale dropping the pounds!!!!

    Run Away !!!!!

Sorry that you are having so many issues. Are these complications from your VSG surgery or something else entirely?

    Vacation

Driver - how far out are you? I've had 2 small vacations since having surgery & would be glad to give you some tips. Can you give a bit more information?
  4. I did not go to Mexico, but I don't think everyone on here is fake. In fact, I think there have been a lot of people with tremendous experiences down there. My husband was also supportive of the surgery, but completely nixed the idea of going out of the country. I live just a bit north of you in Lake Stevens. I did my surgery in Las Vegas with Dr. Umbach and paid comparable to Mexico prices. I also believe there some doctors in Texas that have comporable prices. Would having the surgery self-pay in the States be an option for you?

    Yeah, ouch! first day post-op

Sorry to hear about your pain. I also had a lot more pain than I was expecting. But, the good news is that it does get better each day. If you find you need more medication, don't be afraid to call your surgeon and ask for it. Hopefully, you don't need it as much today.

Finally, after so many years ....

Thanks for sharing and best of luck as your family finds healing. You are in our thoughts.

    Alli, anyone?

AMEN!!!!! My traditional definition of diet has finally left the building. Now, I focus on healthy eating and watching the scale go down. I've gone from a size 18 to 10/12 in 15 weeks. I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER could have done that on a diet. You WILL succeed if you follow your nutritional guidelines.

    is something wrong with me?

I think many of us see that same person in the mirror. It's going to take time to "re-see" ourselvs.

Period during my surgery date, bad?

Was not a problem for my friend who had surgery. Call your surgeon and see what they advise.
  11. Great news. I'm assuming you meant 5/28? Not much time to go at all!!!!
  12. I did mine outpatient, but most people stay ~1 night.

    Wendy's chili

As long as you are following your surgeon's dietary guidelines, you shouldn't be worried. Especially such a short time out. Focus on your Protein, Water, and walking & you will be fine.

    Gaining weight

I have a bit different approach. I have been tracking my weight daily on my scale - same time of day & always without clothes. I keep this on a spreadsheet & monitor stuff like TOM, exercise, and alcohol intake. The graph I get from this data shows my ebbs and flows throughout the month & gives me peace of mind if I see something unusual. What I mean is that it isn't usually UNusual - it's just the way my body works. Now, the stall I had 2 weeks prior was not part of my normal routine since having surgery, but now I have it documented. It will be interesting to see if it follows a similiar pattern in the future. Of course, this is what works for me - you need to find out what works for you.
  15. Very cool ... Now, I need details Classic or New? Cooper, Clubman, Convertible. I love them all. We are so crazy that we own 3: 1 '80 Classic (in the Avitar, a '06 Coop, and a '08 Clubman).

    surgery date!

How exciting for you. I must admit, I went a little crazy with my "Last Suppers", but got down to business on the pre-op. This is the beginning of a whole new you!
  17. Myfitnesspal only has an iPhone App. It does not have one for the Blackberry. I can get directly to their site to see what I have planned for the day, but unable to add new foods to it. I'll have to check out the other site. Having it on my phone would be grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! (said like Tony the Tiger!)
  18. You will get support from lots of us - whether you have surgery or not. I find that this board just "keeps me going" if you know what I mean.

9-15 May - Pledge your Points!

LOL - that's what Sleeve Buddies are for! Update on me - I exercised on Tuesday, but totally skipped it on Wednesday. Just in a blah mood & couldn't find the motivation. Oh well, as they say "Rome was not built in a day".

    Question Regarding Size (Xpost)

I think a stricture (bend in the stomach) is the more common concern with a smaller size. I had a 36 with a close suture. Someone with a 32 could have a bigger stomach depending on how close they suture/cut to the bougie. If your surgeon is willing to go smaller, I would discuss it with him as well as his technique for suturing/cutting away the stomach. Best of luck!
