14 days out and I feel...

So glad to hear it. It's amazing how quickly you go from "what have I done" to "ow!" to "Wow! I feel like myself again". Looking forward to "watching" your journey.

    Down 70lbs post-op!

Somehow I missed this the other day. Just had to say congratulations. What an awesome job you have done. Don't you feel wonderful???

    New here :)

Welcome ... didn't haved the doctor, but had VSG. Can't say enough good things about the surgery. I was obese since birth. Really! I was 10 pounds 10 ounces at birth so I've always been a big girl. BUT NO LONGER!!! As of this morning, I am 3 pounds from goal!
  6. I was the exact opposite on lemonade ... loved it before surgery ... stocked up on it ... and can barely stand the taste. It's a bit better after 7 months, but those first few months it was so repulsive that it's something I will drink only if there are no other options.
  7. My nut instructions said no straw ... woke up in recovery and a straw was placed in my mouth. Go figure! I found the straw to be a lifesaver in getting in my liquids early out. I've had no issues with gas build-up & my restriction is great at 7+ months. But, that is my experience. Everyone should talk with their surgeon and follow that advice.
  8. I just passed the 7 month mark. I had 68 pounds to lose and at 7 months, I was down 64.2 pounds. Just 3 pounds to go to "official" goal as of this morning!!!!!
  9. Can you get some of the Isopure Protein drinks? They sell them at GNC. I didn't like them, but many people do. They qualify as Clear liquids. At this point, I wouldn't worry so much about the protein, etc. Focus on the Water and hydration. Of course, the more protein you can get in, the better.
  10. OH ... I so want to give you a big hug. I remember the frustration, the worry, the fears, the "what if I'm the only one who fails at this". I was so sure it wasn't going to work for me, but it has!!!!!! You ARE GOING to be SUCCESSFUL. I promise! You will be in my prayers.

    Hobbies...

I love to knit while I watch tv at night (I even do it with company over - I just knit and enjoy the conversation. Just don't do a hard pattern with people over - you may be surprised at what it looks like!) Knitting definitely keeps the hands busy. And, you don't want to ruin your projects by dropping food on them.

    had scary problem today

So glad that you were able to get into the doctor and they were able to take care of the problem. (Now, I've heard of people being desperate to get rid of a drainage tube, but maybe you took it too far! ) Great job on the weightloss!
  13. Congrats. Prayers have been said and waiting to hear from you once you are an official "LOSER"!!!

    got the munchies

That head hunger is such a buggar, isn't it??? It's is by chance time for your cycle? I have that issue every month and it is so hard to ignore. Just keep those good foods close by & do your best to stay on plan. If you fall off, just remember that you have control of the next bite. It's no longer all-or-nothing like it was pre-surgery. You can do this!
  15. Awesome post Anna ... this is the reality of our life. I too insist on enjoying what I eat. If I don't like it, I don't eat it. Life is too short to fill up on the "crap". I eat like a gourmet now - and the portions are what you get at a 4/5 Star Restuarant (and pay mega $ for )

    August 30 Sleeving

AWESOME news ... full liquids will be wonderful and purees will seem heavenly. Great progress.
  17. I just wanted to say GOOD FOR YOU! You should be very proud of yourself. You've done your research and decided to take control and increase your chances of a healthy, long life. It's a hard personal decision. As a lightweight myself, I understand the only "60 pound" thought ... but I know that in a year, it would have been 75, then 80, then 100+. I had to take control while I was still heathy enough and little bone/joint damage not to mention heart and diabetes issues.
  18. Thanks everyone ... Update on the ribs - they are doing a lot better. Still have some pain when I turn or breathe really deep, but I'm out of the rib brace now. I've been jumping up and down from 138.8 to 141 the past two weeks. Didn't change anything, but today I was 138.4. I'll take going down 0.4 any day over a jump up. Glad to hear that this is helping the newbies and those "semi-pros" ... I know I had a lot of encouragement when I was starting out. Nice to know that I am playing it forward a little bit.
  19. And yes, that .2 is very important! I cannot believe that it has been 7 months already. In some ways, it is a blur and then I recall the struggles, the doubts, the what-ifs. I am so glad that I had this done. I finally found a way to manage my weight and feel proud of myself. I am sitting here wearing size 8 Tommy Hilfiger jeans and a tight little purple sweater. ME!!!!! Hard to believe. I'm 3.8 pounds from my initial goal of 135. Still trying to decide if that is the "right" weight or if I am going to revise it a little and strive for 125. I'm 5'6", but a very small frame/bone structure. Still waiting for the ribs to heal so that I can start back on the treadmill. Once I get to a routine, that should help me with my final weight goal figuring in muscle tone vs the fat that is still left. For everyone on the fence or feeling like you are going to be the one to fail ... I am doing it and you can to. I had so many doubts going into this and even in the first few months being sure I would be the one to fail at VSG. But, I am winning the battle of the bulge for the first time in my life. I am sooooooo excited! :laugh0: :lol0:
  20. I think I had lost close to 15 pounds in the first 2 weeks. But, I was outpatient so I didn't have a lot of IV fluids and such in the hospital. Were you on IV's? If so, that takes a lot of time to get out of your system. Please don't be discouraged - everyone heals differently and at a varied pace. Try to remember ... you've lost 8 pounds in 12 days. Has that ever happened to you before???

  21. I've been lurking a lot on Obesityhelp.com. It seems like I've been reading several posts out there lately about people being 2+ years out and gaining weight. Tonight, I read another about a woman who's gained back a lot of her weight and basically starting over again. Where were these kind of posts when I was doing my research? Why amI freaking out now when I am so close to goal? Did I see these posts before & just ignore because "I will be different"? I need someone to talk me down. I am so close to goal. I NEVER want to be that fat girl again. Am I going to gain again just like I have after EVERY diet before? Please ... I need some reassurance - I feel like crying.

    Bad Feeling

I am so happy for you. Please keep us updated on your date and progress on your list! We are here for you!
  23. We are 1 pound apart on starting weight and exactly 7 months apart on surgery date. I would say that size 8 is just around the corner for you!!!!

    Ideas about candy?

I like Russell Stover Sugar Free Peanut Butter Brittle. It lasts a while & tastes quite good.

    Stretching

Nancy - don't overfret about stretching ... but try to eat a little slower. You'll find that point a little easier if you slow down a bit. Try putting your utensil down between bites, etc. I know it's hard, but you'll figure it out soon. Best of luck!
