    User CP

I know what you mean ... I can't find mine either.
  6. Carrie, Please don't take this as negative, but I am confused. Didn't you say that you asked not to have the surgery, but were put under anyway? Why would you recommend them if they "forced" you into a surgery you didn't want?

    What is WRONG WITH ME???

You are very NORMAL ... I think many of us go through this. For me personally, the "high" of having surgery was over. food didn't taste as good, and the real "work" was kicking in. There was a mourning for "real" food and "normal" portions. But, it will pass. I'm a little over 8 months today. I'm eating anything I want (in smaller portions of course) ... if it weren't for the restriction, I could easily forget that I had surgery. It's hard to imagine right now ... but this too shall pass. We are all cheering for you!

    3 days post-op

I was right there with you ... Good news is that it does get better. I'm glad I captured this, because it's kinda like having a baby - you forget. http://verticalsleevetalk.com/post-operation-vertical-sleeve-gastric-surgery-vsg-questions-answers/3493-surgery-recovery-sucks.html Keep your chin up ... the light is just around the corner!

    Pain Pills

How is your pain level now? Were you able to get any medicine?
  10. I do think families react like this out of concern. Isn't it strange how terrible we will treat someone we love when we wouldn't talk to a stranger like that??? Also - it sounds like your brother may be reacting to his diagnosis by focusing his anger/emotions on you. I'm sure he is worried about death and leaving his family alone as well. Do what you need to do for yourself first. Then, you can focus on providing support for your brother and his family. Best of luck ... and don't forget - we are here to support you.

    Biggest Loser last night

We were flipping channels & I saw part of it. Honestly, that show just makes me mad. Did you hear him say to her "This is bigger than a one day surgery?" Yes, it's hard to believe someone would do a bypass on a 14-year old girl. BUT, we don't know the story behind that. He kept telling her it was hard work and they would show her the way. HELLO!!!! It seems like a majority of the contestants gain back the weight after the show. At least with surgery and effort, we have a chance of keeping it off. I think that's the last time I turn that show on. It's a shame, because that show had a chance to show all the options, show the struggles and help many people make a difference. They just got caught up in the "Reality TV" game and made it all about emotions & chaos.

    Just a little encouragement

Soooo needed this today. I just can't seem to get to that 135 and I really want to be below it. It can be so discouraging to watch the scale jump up and down the same 2 pounds for 3 weeks. Ugh! I tried on the jeans I wore when I went to surgery. I think 2 of me could have fit in there. Yeah!
  13. That is great news!!!! You are going to rock it fro mhere on out!

    A special gift

What about a journal? I found it very helpful to keep pictures, catalog my weight, make notes of thoughts/feelings/ideas - especially in the early days. It's been great to go back and review when I have those days where I feel like the progress is slow. If he's not the "journal" type ... what about simply setting up a special place for him to hang out as he recovers? I know for me, my husband set up a tv tray, the laptop, phone, heating pad, tv remote, etc right beside the Lazy Boy Recliner. It was so nice to get up, get dressed, and sit down in "luxury".
  17. Just wanted to check on you and see how you are doing. Haven't heard from you since your surgery date.

    Anti-depressant

I have been taking all small pills (think M&M or smaller) since the day after surgery. Vitamins are normally larger, so I did chewables for the 1st month. Absolutely no problems for me.

    Hello Everyone!!!

Lesli - So glad that you found us. I don't know much about doctors in the Dominican, but I know I love that country. I did some Work and Witness trips in the 80's and I fell in love with the people there. I keep telling my husband that I want to go back & I know we will one day. What kind of questions do you have? You sure sound excited and energetic. I remember those feelings well.

Top 10 reasons to have VSG surgery

    1) Having my husband look at me the loving way he always has, but now feeling like I am worthy of that look. 2) Wearing designer jeans 3) Being able to ask - "Do you have this blouse in a smaller size?" 4) Having my 8 year old put his arms around me and say "Mommy - you are so small. I can put my arms all the way around you." OK - #4 is like a MasterCard moment - PRICELESS!
  22. I am 5'6" and started out at 203 pounds. BMI of 32.8 so was considered a lightweight. However, my surgeon agreed that with my family history and failure to maintain weightloss, I was an ideal candidate for VSG. Was recovery easy? For me, no. I had a lot of pain from gas and the incisions. The good news is that it only lasted a few days. Much easier week 2. After week 2, I was pretty much like my old self. http://verticalsleevetalk.com/post-operation-vertical-sleeve-gastric-surgery-vsg-questions-answers/3493-surgery-recovery-sucks.html Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY!!!! I feel so much healthier, younger, and I'll just say it "Cuter". I love going to stores & not feeling like they are thinking "there is no way she can fit in our clothes". My lab results are great and my energy level is higher than I remember it being before. I can go to the store, shop, load it in the car, bring it in, put it away & not feel like I need a nap. Yahoo! Good luck with your own journey.
