    Goal REACHED today!

Do you ever take them out of the closet & your brain automatically says "no way will I fit into these" ... but you do?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I love that feeling!

    Goal REACHED today!

I'm not really comfortable with the idea of maintenance during the holidays. I'm going to see if I can hit 125 in the next 2 months. If not, that is ok. But if I can, GREAT! I may be too slim at that point - wish there was a way to just take it off my tummy area! I think the idea of staying in "diet mode" will help me resist temptation during the holidays. Not that I won't allow some treats (just as I have done all along), but it will help keep me mindful of what I am eating and accountable to not go crazy during the holidays. No matter where I end up January 1, I will start into maintenance. For me, that is the most "scary" part ... I've never mastered maintenance and I know I'm going to need some help figuring my way through this. Hopefully we can be a support for one another. Again ... great job on making your goal. It's a terrific feeling - isn't it?
  3. You do realize that you are up 8 pounds due to the massive amounts of fluids given during surgery? Right???? Give it some time, you will lose that in no time. Glad to hear the pain is manageable. Horray for being on the Loser Bench!

    Goal REACHED today!

That is so AWESOME. You should feel very proud of yourself. YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. If you went on the charts, I needed to lose 48 pounds to get to a "normal" BMI of 24.9 or 155 pounds at 5'6". At 65%, that would have only lost 31.2 pounds in a year. Well, I lost 70.8 pounds in less than 9 months. Seems like a lot of us on here have met our goal or are very close to it in 1 year or less. I wonder if this is a stat for all WLS as a whole? I know there are some who struggle with losing the weight on VSG, but it seems to be a small percentage. And, I don't mean that to sound as trite as it probably does in writing. I so feel for anyone struggling with any weightloss - VSG, RYN, DS, Band, calorie counting etc. We've all been there and know the scars of those battles. As far as getting to where I am ... I wish I could say it was all me and my strict compliance, but I haven't done very well at all on the exercise and haven't been such a stickler on the carbohydrate counting either. Having said that, I know that more exercise will help tone me up more & get off the last 7 I want to have gone by Christmas. All of that is to say, I don't know why your nut told you this. It does sound a bit defeating, doesn't it? Maybe use it as a way to motivate yourself to "beat the numbers". Show them that your sleeve will take you to your goal!

    Stepped on the scale

    Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I did not use them, but attend their monthly support groups. Puget Sound Surgical Center has some excellent surgeons. Two friends had VSG there with GREAT results and f/u care. http://pugetsoundsurgicalcenter.com/sleeve-gastrectomy.html
  8. Candy goes down way too easy. I have been eating so much junk for the last 3 days. Sleeve family please help. I am eating Reese's like they are going out of business (just a note - I love them so much. In fact, my husband proposed many years ago with an insant winner coupon in a Reese Bar). I am also downing Twizzlers and at this moment, drinking a glass of wine. This is my public CONFESSION!!! Please Sleeve Family ... give it to me. Don't be easy on me. I need your "wrath" to help keep me accountable and get me back on track.
  9. I think talking to your surgeon is the first step. You may be right in the acid issue which may be causing "false hunger" pangs. When you say you can eat 6-8oz of food, what kind of foods are you talking about? Can you give us an idea of a typical daily eating regime? I am so sorry for your emotions right now. The emotional strain after surgery is bad enough without worrying if the surgery "worked" for you. Are you weighing/measuring yourself at home? Or, have you stayed away from the scale and "just feel like you aren't losing"? Keep in touch and let us know how things go with your surgeon. You are in my thoughts?

    Holiday Strategies

This is a cross-post from the one I did on not controlling my sweet tooth over Halloween Weekend. Hopefully it will inspire others and keep me accountable!!!! OK ... I posted this on OH and I'm going to post it here too. This is my Holiday Challenge. Who's with me? I would like to see 125 by Christmas. That will force me to make good choices over the holidays and provide a "bounce back" period when I move fully into maintenance. Not sure if I can take off 7 pounds in that time period. The loss has been really slow as I have approached goal. But, I'm gonna try!

    nervous mother

Is he located in Ohio? Is that why you are leaning for surgery there? Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with dotors in either Ohio or New Orleans. Hopefuly others on here will. If he has truly tried everything, I doubt eating only 4 oz every 2 hours is going to do the trick. He needs the help of the sleeve "tool" to modify his hunger and provide that full sensation that he does not appear to be having. As far as the beer, have you talked to him about this? Alcohol is not a no-no forever, but he will probably find he does not enjoy beer post-surgery. The bubbles make many people (including me) uncomfortable and over-full. I appreciate your motherly concern. I would suggest doing more research on your own by putting Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy in your search engine. Read everything you can so you can have an educated discussion with your son. Has he gone to a seminar? If so, maybe he can go again and take you with him. If not, I would highly suggest that he find a local surgeon (even if he is not interested in using him) who gives seminars and listen to what the surgeon has to say. We are also here to provide information and our own personal experiences. Best of luck with your research. Edit - I did have the surgery outpatient. I know that scares a lot of people, but for me, it was a great option. Sometimes surgeon's say outpatient, when it really means 23 hours or less (which means a bed for the night). Your son can talk to his surgeon to find the exact definition.
  13. Thanks and LOL ... I'm putting the emphasis on do not NEED. Yes, they are good. Yes, I like them. But, do I need them to be healthy? NOPE. Can I have "ONE" occaisionally. OF COURSE! Can I have a few (ok, more like 7) in a day? NOPE!!!!! I appreciate the accountability. Exactly what I needed. I told my husband so he can be on Reese alert for me. I really don't want them out of the house. While no one needs them, it is a nice treat for my kids. (Who, by the way, ate a few pieces and left the bowl alone.) I can be stronger than the Reese Cups!

    New to Forum

The pain you are feeling is most likely trapped gas from the surgery. Walking and using a heating pad seemed to help me the most. Glad to have you on the forum.

    Inner Thighs

That's exactly what I thought of when I bought it. It really does seem to help. And, my husband never minded watching me work out with it - haha!
  16. OK ... Today is a new day. Not really sure what was going on over the weekend. But, putting it out here & publicly admitting my "out of controlness" helped. Repeating to myself ... "You do not need that Reese Cup ... You do not need that Reese Cup".

Yahoo! Our party is tonight. Same feelings as you. Couldn't believe it when there was actually soom room in the outfit and had to tie it a little tighter. Woohoo for all the Sexy Sleevers!!!!!
  22. Sorry to hear that? How big are the pills? I was allowed to take small pills (think smaler than M&M) the day after surgery. I had 0 problems. I also suffer from cold sore during my cycle so I can definitely relate.

    Wine

My surgeon ok'd wine at 2 months (I asked since I was headed back to Vegas for a vacation with friends.). I drink a couple of glasses of white wine and don't have any problems other than it taking a while and hitting me fast (can you say cheap date???). Beer is another story ... Lots of bubbles. Can't drink much before I feel uncomfortable. Be careful with shots. They are small, so go down easy ... But they hit hard and fast!!!

    Outpatient??

You will definitely need someone to drive you home. Even if you feel up to it, remember your body is full of medications and probably narcotics. DUI is not something you want to mess with.
