Needing an excellent VSG surgeon in Los Angeles
MINI-Me replied to LikeIUse2be's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you had surgery yet? My question is asked to see if you are seeking a surgeon or follow-up care. I know Vegas is close to LA (about 3 hours). I used Dr. Umbach through Medical Tourism and found him to be fantastic. -
We are all human & we all make poor choices sometimes - especially when we are stressed. My husband has no weight issues & he overindulges sometimes too. Best thing to do? Think about why you did it ... Really explore how it made you feel ... How did you feel before, during, and after. If you can honestly say it helped, then don't beat yourself up. If it made you feel worse, don't beat yourself up. Learn from it, get back on track and move forward. Your next meal is still your next meal - make better choices then. And for the record, your binge was pretty sensible considering what you could have done.

Ok ... funny story to tell ... (Sleeve4me made me remember this!) Like I said, my son is 20. We did a road trip for college & I got us a hotel room. I had asked for 2 beds, but there was a mix up & there was only 1. So, being 20, I knew he wouldn't want to share with his mom. Called the front desk - they were booked on 2 beds, but offered me a discount on the room & a hide-a-bed. You should have seen the guy who brought in the bed. I think he thought my son was hooking up with an older woman & for the life of him couldn't figure out why we wanted 2 beds. I finally put him out of his misery and explained that I was his mom & not a 20-30 year old "cougar" (as my son calls it). It was HILARIOUS!!!!

Mother's Day (And it being Sun - Tues)is going to be a killer for me as well. I totally understand booked schedules though. Sorry. I hope you all have fun!

Going under the knife Monday morning

See you on the Loser's Bench!!!!!!! -
I think losing the weight really helps with age. I'm also in my 40's. The other day, I was telling someone that I had a son who just turned 20. They were sure it was a step-son and not a "natural" son. When I asked why, they told me that they thought I was in my late 20's or early 30's. Made me smile all day! OK, I'm smiling right now just thinking about it!

What's going on with my stomach??
MINI-Me replied to faithstar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really does sound like stomach acid ... a different PPI should help. -
THAT IS SOOOOOOOO AWESOME. Congratulations!
-
It really depends on their policy ... If you need a 40 BMI after the 3 months, then that's the policy ... If it's before, make sure they realize what your BMI was before the 3 months - maybe there was a mix-up in the notes or who read them. Do they allow 35 BMI with co-morbidities? If so, do you have any?
-
I started with a BMI of 32.8 ... I made it to goal in ~9 months & then decided to go down 10 more pounds which took 2 additional months. This is serious stuff & major surgery. But, for me, I knew I needed a drastic change and CHANCE at sustainable weightloss. I was a career dieter, but never a successful maintaner.

Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread
MINI-Me replied to Oregondaisy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Is it just me or do others get secretly excited when they see the scale move down even though we are supposed to be maintaining??? Saturday and today, the scale read 123.6. As you can see from below, I'm supposed to be maintaining between 125-128. I promised my hubby no lower than 125. I can honestly say I didn't try to lose, but I admit, I was happy when I saw it go down. Hmmm ... not sure what to think about that. -

Good luck with the trainer. Please share anything you learn! (Of course, for it to help me, I would have to actually do some exercise!!!) -
Welcome to the board and congratulations on your surgery. Keep us posted on your progress.

I've been waiting to say this...
MINI-Me replied to coops's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For some reason my reply didn't show up ... take 2 AWESOME. You look amazing! I mean this in the kindest way possible - but you look 10 years younger than your before picture. I bet your family can hardly keep up with you. You decide what to do about your goal. No matter what ... keep up the good work. You are doing great. We are really proud of you! -
With your comment on Bob's Burger and Brew, I just had to see where you lived. Yep! We are neighbors. I am in Lake Stevens. Howdy Neighbor!

What an awesome way to give back! Congrats you two! -
I'll do better than that ... fingers and toes are crossed for you. Can't wait to see some pictures. I bet you look awesome!

I don't mean this to sound harsh ... but, what does your plan say? You really need to follow it to the letter the first few weeks (especially) ... Your little tummy has been through a lot an needs TLC.
-
Isn't it more like onwards and downwards?!?!?!?!?! LOL I have complete faith that you are going to make your goal. You have such a great attitude and spirit about the process. By the way ... did I miss a post on your hair? What did you decide to do?

What does NSV mean?
MINI-Me replied to Middlesister57's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A Non-scale Victory ... It can be anything ... like fitting into a smaller pair of pants ... or even a booth at a restuarant instead of needing a chair. My favorite is when people don't recognize me until I talk. -
I also have thick hair ... it is scary to watch the handfuls come out, but there really isn't a way to stop it. I couldn't believe I still had enough hair to cover me up, but no one really noticed. Well except for me when I had to clean out the shower drain in the mornings. Congratulations on your progress thus far!
