Im Getiing Cold Feet :(
MINI-Me replied to minnieme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If we are honest with ourselves, I think most of us had a panic attack somewhere in the process. Mine was after my nutritionist appt - all I kept hearing is " you'll never do x again". Well, I am almost 3 years out. There is nothing I CAN'T have, but there are things I choose to avoid and/or limit. Go to your appointment and really listen to your surgeon. Share your concerns and listen to their response. You will know if/when surgery is right for you. -

Looking To Hear From Folks Who Are Several Years Out From Having Vsg
MINI-Me replied to mysunflower621's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes ... If I follow the "rules" about 5 oz of Protein and a bite of veggies and carbs. Popcorn and other junk food, MUCH more. Still not per-surgery amounts, but A LOT! (think small movie popcorn) -

I don't actually remember ... Those first few days it seems like you will never enjoy food again. But, after a while you sort of find your rhythm. At 6 months out, I could eat one slice of thin pizza in about 30 minutes. Now, I can eat 1 to 1.5 slices. -

Globetrotter - I'm probably asking a "duh" question, but have you tried not being so stringent with dieting for a few weeks? When I was getting close to goal, I just couldn't get there. I allowed myself to slip into maintenance mode (tracking protein, but not being stringent with calories - probably between 1800 - 2000 calories a day). Amazingly, I started losing again. Don't know if it will work for you, but it worked for me. -
I haven't used it, but several friends are raving about FitBit.

Dr. Umbach was my surgeon. But this was my first WLS. If your appeal is denied, definitely contact him & see his pricing for revisions.

Totally agree at 2.5 years out. I have been unable to lose the weight I gained between Oct and January. I used to bounce 125 - 130. I am now 130 - 135. But it takes effort and focus not to gain more (snacking is my downfall - amazing how many calories you can put in if you aren't careful!) Would love to be back in the 120's again. -
I know you are early out & need to be very careful about portion size (that too full / uncomfortable feeling is the worst), but still a slave??? You ate less than one - celebrate you didn't and weren't able to eat the whole container!!!!! ;0)

Where Does The Surgeon Stats Information Come From?
MINI-Me posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My surgeon is Dr. Thomas Umbach. It says he has 2 years of experience and does not take out of town patients or do out patient surgery. Well, I am 2 years and 3 months post-op (and I was definitely not his first). I flew to see him from WA state (he is in Nevada) and he offered in/out patient and I chose out-patient so that I could actually rest the first night (hate being in hospitals and they wake you up to see how you are feeling!) Anyone else notice incorrect information about their surgeon? -
I actually do the Pepsi Max (no sugar) and have since 4 months out. No issues and no calories. You might want to rethink the Pepsi Next - not as much for the carbonation and caffeine, but the sugar. But, each person needs to decide their "crack" ... Mine is a small glass of wine several nights a week. YUM!!!!

I agree ... just hold on. The 23rd is so close. I know it's hard ... but it will be much easier once your stomach is smaller. And, you will have bacon and pizza again. Just not now. Good for you for having a good cry ... we don't allow ourselves do that enough!
